  1. First. "Bait and switch" implies some negative intent. There was none. When you start a poll you also have to give a title to the thread and have to put content in the first post. I didn't copy and paste. Second. Sorry that you didn't read the question before responding to the poll. Third. I no longer buy CGC books so I honestly don't care one way or another. I feel bad for the inevitable buyers who are going to get ripped off by unscrupulous sellers because CGC decided it was better to keep material information hidden from its label. Fourth.
  2. The original title never changed. But I will change it to match the poll question. I'm sorry if people did not read the poll question before selecting a response.
  3. Do what you want to do. And if you don't know what you want to do then don't do anything until you know what you want to do.
  4. @CGC Mike please share the results of this poll with management. As it stands, 9% are indifferent towards the change; 1% like the change; 47% say they will no longer purchase newly graded books; and 43% say they will still buy books but don't like the change. In other words, 1% view the change favorably; 9% are indifferent; and 90% view the change negatively.
  5. This is clearly an unpopular decision. But just wait until less than a year from now when some unsuspecting buyer purchases a low grade golden age book and finds out it has pieces missing and a detached centerfold when he cracks it out. Now just wait until the unsuspecting buyer is a YouTuber and it goes viral that CGC intentionally hid key information. I want to personally congratulate the leadership team at CGC. It would have been difficult to make a worse decision. Kudos.
  6. In light of the changes to the information displayed on the CGC label, will you buy more CGC books, the same amount, or less?
  7. If a seller on here was selling a raw book, gave it a grade of 4.0, and then had a small notation at the bottom of his listing saying "see my website for more info" where additional defects were listed, I would be nominating that seller for the HOS for intentionally failing to disclose information. Here, CGC isn't even putting the small notation of "see CGC website for additional information" on the slab.
  8. What CGC is doing by moving some of the notes from the label to the paid website is charging for its opinion twice: first CGC is charging the submitter for CGC's opinion, of which only part is public; second CGC is charging the potential buyer, who only has access to part of CGC's opinion on the label, in order to view the remainder of CGC's opinion behind the paywall. The more you think about what CGC is doing the more despicable is becomes.
  9. The grader notes are not available unless you pay for a membership. My biggest issue is the change in practice. The customer expects to see certain notations on a label after years of seeing those notations on the label. Removing those notations now creates confusion with the customer. They expect to see incomplete on the label; so if a book does not have incomplete on the label they expect, based on past practice, that the book is complete. CGC is creating mass confusion and making it significantly easier for unscrupulous sellers to scam people.
  10. It always amazes me when companies make objectively awful decisions that no one stood up during the process and said "Maybe we should not destroy our product and alienate the consumers"
  11. You can see the graded date when you look up the cert number Is that the only way? So now you have to type in the cert number to even find out if the book has the new deceptive label or not.
  12. How can you tell which books were graded before 2022? I will not be buying any book graded in 2022 or the future since I don't want to be accused of selling a book that is failing to disclose significant defects.
  13. I have seen plenty of scammers list a book for sale and intentionally make the photo of the label blurry or too small to read so the buyer cannot see the notes. Now they won't have to do that at all! They can just show the label which will be missing relevant material information.
  14. Congrats to CGC on bringing everyone on the forum together. There is 100% agreement from CGC’s customers that CGC is making a massive mistake.
  15. @CGC Mike I would like CGC to explain how ANYONE other than someone intending to scam and defraud a buyer benefits from CGC no longer writing the single but extremely important word “incomplete” on the label. Who benefits from removing the notation “centerfold detached”? It takes no additional work to have “incomplete” on the label. Removing the word “incomplete” from the label serves ONE purpose—it makes an incomplete book appear like a complete book. Removing “detached centerfold” from the label makes a detached book appear to be a structurally sound book. It puts uneducated buyers, and even sophisticated buyers who may not be aware of the policy change, at higher risk of being defrauded. This is not a new goofy custom label or a font change; this is a direct assault on the primary purpose of a CGC book, transparency to facilitate transactions. As a buyer I can no longer rely on the CGC label. CGC is no longer in the authentication and grading business. It is only in the expensive plastic case business. A truly shockingly stupid decision.
  16. Every label needs to say “See Grader’s Notes” otherwise this looks like intentional and willful deception. This looks like bad faith.
  17. I wish we could put eBay in the HOS for blatantly allowing this BS!
  18. Enough! @mdean2437 you either have the book and attempted to defraud @TC33 by claiming the book was not as described despite the fact that you made ridiculous claims in your ebay listing about the book being even higher grade then the description that was sold to you OR you acted unethically on ebay by arranging multiple shill purchases of the same book. What it looks like is you did BOTH bad acts! This is clear cut HOS. Get out of here with this nonsense. @CGC Mike I would argue this is a situation where @mdean2437 should also be banned from these boards. These threads have been out of control.
  19. He should absolutely be put in the HOS. Happy the OP was able to fight back against the theft attempt, but that doesn't change what occurred. And other board members need to be warned about this guy as they might not be as lucky as the OP.
  20. The condition of the book is 100% irrelevant. According to your ebay you sold the book and the buyer left you positive feedback. Therefore there is no book to return. Everything else is noise. End of story. You opened a paypal claim on a book that you had already sold to a third party.
  21. Don’t do anything until you get confirmation from PayPal that the case has been cancelled. You should probably also confirm with PayPal that he cannot open a new case for the same transaction.
  22. Do you not have any photos of the McFarlane signed book before sending it in?
