This was one of my favorites - Kooba Cola, the drink that never was.... Vincent Fox put the advert in many of his titles in the 40s in the hopes that it would create enough buzz that a manufacturer would actually produce and he would just license the name to them.. Never happened...

If the clock started on December 9th when payment was made, then that constitutes 30 days from the time of the original post. There is an argument that this is valid. Not really as the buyer failed to adhere to the PL nomination rules requiring him to notify the seller of the PL nomination, and sit though the waiting period before bringing it to the boards, these have been in place for years. but I think we can all put him on our block list and simply move on Amen

Everyone's entitled to thier opinion but think most peoples minds are made up about what went on here. For arguments sake let's say the clock starts ticking as soon as payment is made, did the buyer send the seller a PM stating he was going to be nominated and give the proper waiting period as stipulated by the rules? I don't care to hear the excuse that well, I didn't do that because he didn't reply to previous PMs anyway... The rules exist for a reason here. We all get to decide who we choose to do business with and this guy is a red flag at least for me. It's unclear whether there was an actual PM asking the question for delayed shipping, I just saw a note in PP that was a statement. Honestly if a buyer sent me payment and said don't ship until x date, I wouldn't reply to the paypal message either unless it was formed as a question, like hey just let me know if that's ok? The omission of relevant info by the buyer from the onset along with the book sitting in a pile of unopened boxes at his house while he took his rant to the boards make him lose all credibility...

I didn't read the whole thread, but feel bad for the buyer who thinks this is a mint book.... I counted several defects on just on the FC where I'd have a hard time giving this a 9.0 let alone a 9.8. I think the best advice to the buyer would be to only buy graded books until they come up to speed on grading.

OP it's all about the rules..... None of which you followed... Also based on your posting history you should read the buying and selling rules as well, since in your short time here you appeared to have gotten into another dust up previously with a boardie on his selling thread. You omitted pertinent info from your nomination (which was premature by about 3 weeks) and continue to fail to own up to what YOU did once called out. Take solace in knowing you are not the first, and certainly won't be the last, whose "PL Nomination" turned around to bite them in the backside...

I agree there is a lot of useless banter in some threads and not all the sellers fault to be fair. I see this more as useless bumping but it is not directly challenging the seller. As for the buyer beware I stand by this, the flip side is seller beware too. GPA is only as good as the data it receives and we know much is not reported. I wonder how people would feel if someone posted in a sellers thread where GPA is quoted that sales on another platform that does not report to GPA were higher than GPA, I have seen this many times. There are just so many variables like PQ, centering, color strike etc. that can come into play. Many threads with raw books don’t even denote PQ some don’t even provide a back cover scan. I’m guilty of this myself as I scan the front and bc from PC then it become a PIA to open the book take a pic with iPhone and post that up as well. I just don’t agree with what was being proposed that if a piece of GPA was quoted by a seller then it can become a free for all for others to post additional GPA data points or specifics about a book to justify a higher/lower price point in the sellers thread. That just becomes a slippery slope IMO. Bottom line I just think both parties should have equal responsibility. I do respect everyone’s opinion on this though.

I don't like thread crapping. Much rather someone PM the seller if they truly misrepresent something, or if you must, report the thread and let a mod decide. I think it's also subjective, I've seen GPA used to quote a clear outlier last sale on the high side without denoting an average, or a higher graded copy selling for less on GPA than the lower graded one up for sale. I don't particularly like it, but as far as I'm concerned it's really up to the person making the purchase to do thier due diligence and/or ask questions before pulling the trigger unless it's something so egregious like selling a reprint as an original which folks have called out. Regarding the one that was brought up re: page quality, I don't think it's appropriate to derail someones sales thread pointing out OW GPA sales vs. CR/OW sales. Where does it end? Maybe something sold high because the book had perfect centering, should this be brought up as well? We're all entitled to our opinions however if we start going down this path of "chiming in" on peoples sales threads you'll just get more and more people that will avoid using the boards as a selling platform.
