  1. Jon Davis-Hunt You can google to get an idea of what the art looks like. It's pretty solid art.
  2. Lee is only doing variants for the first few issues, as of now. Maybe he keeps doing variants? only the first few issues have been solicited so far & they all have a Lee variant.
  3. I have it coming via DCBS but I might still make a trip to the LCS this week and grab another copy just because I want to support this book so much.
  4. If they were still available, then it was because a few people cancelled orders. Because even the signed 3-book set was sold out in under 3 hours on Saturday.
  5. I don't think that having 3 of almost every character is really ideal. There's 2 wasps, 4 or 5 spider-men, like 4 spider-women, 2 Wolverines, Captain Marvel pulling a Wolverine impression circa 2004 where she's on every team, about as many Hulks as usual, 2 thors, 3 Iron people and more. Not to mention that it prevents ANY of these newer characters from stepping out of the shadow of the character that popularized the names in the first place & becoming their own thing with their own following.
  6. discount code was definitely good on any version of the book. Signed or unsigned. 1, 2 or 3 packs. I used it on the 3-pack unsigned. And at 10:59am eastern (8:59 mountain, 7:59 pacific... since he is based out of denver), the page wasn't even available. It was a 404 page error that cleared itself up at exactly 11:00am eastern. 9 mountain.
  7. The thing is, 15 years ago, 12k was about 10k below the cancellation point on even big-2 imprint books. Not even main universe titles. Wildcats Version 3.0 got cancelled with 23k per month sales.
  8. I think their best bet might be a time reset back to the pre-AvX continuity. Wipe out the Marvel NOW!, All-New Marvel NOW!, All-New All Different Marvel, and All New All Different Marvel NOW! phases and have someone go back, prevent AvX from happening & wipe out all of the legacy garbage that's happened since, including Civil War II, Secret War, etc. Essentially wipe out the past 5-7 years of stories & keep going with the old, legacy-character-free continuity.
  9. Are you sure? I thought #10 or something was the final issue? It was on my pull list & I haven't seen it in a few months.
  10. I think X-Men 92 is over though. I read it. It was OK. Too intentionally cheesy & obviously didn't take itself even slightly seriously, which kinda made it feel a little dumb.
  11. The 3-book set (un-signed) is sold out already. But the signed set is still available.
  12. No. It was Mountain Time. Not Pacific. So 11am eastern. 8 pacific.
  13. Ordered the 3-issue set of the Elektra. It just dawned on me though... the new Netflix-inspired Elektra costume is almost identical to Silk's costume without the webs in the front. Like they both bought the same basic costume & threw different emblems on the chest. Like a minor league hockey team.
  14. And to repeat it for the 4 billionth time, get Brevvort back to just being the company continuity cop. Stop letting the guy have say over things involved in publishing. He's the one that had the brilliant idea of books having "seasons" like it was a tv show. And go back to legacy numbering. I'm tired of buying freaking divider cards every time X-Men or ASM or whatever decides it needs to relaunch into volume 37 or whatever it is these days. For 45 years, nobody was "scared" to jump onto a book just because it was issue 368. They just had a learning curve to catch up on & if the writers had any talent at all (and this was before "recap pages" existed), they could use a panel or 3 to pretty much cover all the relevant info on the characters in the book for anyone who was picking up their first issue. It might seem a little like useless exposition to longtime readers, but nobody ever got that upset over it. And within 2 or 3 issues, they were totally following 99% of what was going on.
  15. Hence the need for cultivating a new crop of competent writers & not just a bunch of hacks that happen to have a bunch of tumblr fans. A good writer can do that. Most of the current writing staff at Marvel aren't good enough to do it.
  16. I think there's a line between having a political bent to the stories with analogous storylines that aren't bordering on a "ripped from the headlines" Law & Order SVU level ham-fisted brow beating of their politics. Basic morality lessons & more vague & subtle analogies to current events is one thing. Turning anyone that disagrees with the writers politics into a villain is just ham-fisted schlock.
  17. Marvel had a period in the early 00's where they found a lot of up-and-coming writers from Image and Wildstorm that weren't really being given a legit shot at DC & said "here, go wild". That's what turned Brubaker into the guy that did Gotham Central with Rucka into Ed Brubaker. And he's not coming back. He's said repeatedly that he's done with Superhero comics. Fraction isn't coming back anytime soon either. He's having too much fun writing a fictionalized version of he & Kelly Sue's sex life at Image. Ellis is going to be busy running the Wildstorm re-launch at DC. Hickman just really really wanted to go & do nothing even related to the Marvel universe for a while after essentially directing it for 3 years. And Millar is busy taking Fox's money for coming up with a new comic & optioning it to them 6 months before the first issue even hits stands. So they need to go find & curate a new crop of young writers. And I stress writers & not just their buddies or people whose politics they agree with. 3 years ago, the most political thing anyone knew or cared about from Quesada or Bendis or Brevvort was that Quesada's dad died of cancer so he banned smoking by heroes in his comics. They might want to get back to us not knowing or caring what their philosophical bent was outside of "make good comics". (And yes, they can have a political bent without being ham-fisted schlock)
  18. I'm going to be buying that Elektra 3-variant set. I kinda dig all 3. The new-Netflix-inspired costume, the classic & the sketch are all killer.
  19. Basically, the idea that the molten adamantium jump-started his healing factor would be essentially the ending of the story that Claremont proposed with the Dark Wolverine Saga way back in the day. Except instead of Deathstrike ripping out his heart to jump-start it & then him getting turned into the Hand's assassin ala Enemy of the State, Mags ripping the adamantium shell off of him would just skip all the rest of that stuff. You gotta figure, pretty much all of the bones of all of the reset of Claremont's unused Wolverine plans have been picked clean by other writers, so why not use this little morsel of tissue left on those bones?
  20. So off topic & not really heating up on eBay so much as just absurdly price pre-orders... The X-Men Blue & Gold #1 variants So I'm looking at the pre-order for DBCS this month & it's showing a number of variants for the X-Men re-launch but one really sticks out Both the X-Men Blue #1 and the X-Men Gold #1 have a variant that's pre-order price is at $2,100. Jesus. Does anyone know what the hell the ratio for that variant is? Because that's absurd. Even the All-New Wolverine 19 Venomized B&W variant is "only" priced at $850 and that's a lower tier book and a 1:500 or so. Is this a 1:1,000? 1:2,000?
  21. I recently picked up an identical spinner rack too. However, It's been spray painted neon green! I found a local place that can repaint it the original color though. I'll be doing that soon. You can do it yourself with 1-2 cans of matte black spray paint. Cost you about $12 + the soap & water to get a clean surface.
  22. damn... super lucky pickup. It's still on my list of missing books from my complete UXM run.
  23. The guy sells also...so I looked at something he had for $17.99 with free shipping...another guy on Ebay had it for $11 after shipping..same condition...I asked him if I bought his and found it somewhere else (not 7 weeks later) would he send me a refund for the difference? I told him to look at it from my perspective. That was asking too much. Now i'm the worst dealer on Ebay. Whatever...blocked I'm not saying what he did was right. But and thos is for you too buzetta. You pre-order something off amazon. It's 200 USD. That's what you'll pay. The price drops to 50 before the item is launched. It's still pre order. Do you cancel your order or take a 150 USD hit? Answer honestly. I agree with your point to a degree, but eBay isnt' amazon & Amazon generally doesn't carry limited collectibles for pre-order. 99% of the time, you're pre-ordering a mass-produced item that doesn't have a production limit. Most items available for pre-order are books or games or movies. These don't have some limited production run. But at the end of the day, eBay and Amazon are 2 wholly different marketplaces. Probably 90% of sales on Amazon are fulfilled by Amazon or an affiliate retailer. Probably 90% of eBay sales are fulfilled by mom & pop type retailers. Amazon also gets their prices down by having tiered unit prices in their contracts with distributors prior to release based on their pre-order sales numbers. The higher the pre-order number, the lower the price-per-unit. eBay retailers don't have that luxury. Especially in the collectibles realm.
