  1. For F@k sakes, I knew it. Always comes down to money. Budget budget budget. Ugh. Even super secret super-human manufacturing facilities like Department whatever or Weapons Plus or Weapon X run short on money. Especially when a certain someone is promising to slash budgets of government programs. I heard there's a new rule that you have to eliminate two ultra secret black ops hidden spy agencies for every new one you create now. That's gotta play havoc with the budgets... Certainly, but it's all about the vertical integration & reducing redundancy, right?

  3. Take this story, add in asking Magneto to help a brother out Fatal Attractions-style, and you got your OG wolverine back without much problem. Or Mags finds the "wolverine statue" & strips the adamantium off him in order for them to give him a proper burial to someone he respected & a rival and we discover an emaciated Wolverine that's still alive inside because the shear damage of the molten Adamantium hitting him in the first place jump-started his previously removed healing factor (full disclosure: I don't remember how they made him killable in the first place. I didn't read that volume of Wolverine cause I got tired of all the relaunches)
  4. I've picked up a few copies of the newsstand Wildcats 2 for my personal collection. It doesn't pop up in the wild often, but I've found it 3 times. It was one of the harder books to come by to finish my Complete Wildstorm Universe (start to finish) collection.
  5. NHL 94 is classic, many battles against my friends on that one. Best. Game. Ever. for real. Which year was the one they played in Swingers? where they made gretzky bleed ? Not sure, but I remember the scene There's one in Mall Rats too. NHL 92 & 93. EA was pressured into removing the fighting & blood starting with NHL 94. They also changed the fighting after NHL 92 so that some players were more or less likely to fight. Then in 94, they got rid of it altogether.
  6. Aren't all the covers for every issue of that series "venomized"? What would be fun for that title would be a Spider-ized version or whatever would be directly opposite a "venomized" theme. Make it sort of the contrarian variant.
  7. That 6th printing of Spider-Man/Deadpool is the one that I think is gonna end up being REALLY tough in-grade because of that solid black cover. I know the shop I picked mine up at had about 6-8 copies on the shelf & the one I picked was the only 9.8 candidate available.
  8. The issue I see is if in fact as USA Today review says Archie is established to be 16 in the series, it's not just a plot twist but a criminal plot twist. Does Grundy get locked up? How do they deal with this aspect of it? Desperate Housewives had a similar plot and nobody seemed to care. I think most viewers will just go TV audiences are generally more willing to accept a teenage boy & hot teacher relationship than they are a teenage girl & hot teacher relationship without the general audience flipping out & accusing the show/network/producers/fans/EVERYONE of some sort of promotion of pedophilia or something. But that's because we seem to still view that teenage boy & hot teacher relationship as the adolescent boy's fantasy deal, while the teenage girl & hot teacher relationship is viewed as molestation. I mean hell... Van Halen made a hit single about being hot for teacher. Social double standards & whatnot.
  9. Marvel has generally been doing a reprint of the regular cover but with a re-colored logo (blue instead of red, etc) like they sometimes did in the 90's for their 2nd prints in the ANAD or whatever they're calling the era now. They just seem to do it with inexplicable issue numbers. Like it's really random.
  10. On the back of the frames, I have screwed in a small plastic wire/cable retainer. It clips over the "bar" of the gridwall section. I had tried several ways of attaching to the angled ceiling but this has worked out the best...but the gridwall is not cheap. I have found some deals on it, and I think it adds to the look. Did you see the figures at the FYE store? I saw a Batman and a Deadpool there. They were of a foam-ish construction and about $1000(?) I think. Very detailed. I can't remember where I saw it. One of the local malls. But I don't recall which store. They had a Deadpool & a Harley Quinn. I think the Harley was around $1K and the Deadpool was $7-800 (I don't remember.) Thanks for the heads up on the grid wall though. I might do that for hanging art on the one slanted wall in my bedroom (I already have a TV mounted on the slanted wall opposite it) because I'm running out of places to hang art in my house.
  11. Brent was awesome. First transaction & it literally couldn't have been better without being free. Excellent prices, spot on grading, amazing packaging, and faster shipping than I could have imagined.
  12. That's a KILLER setup. And I love the art on the angled wall. How are they anchored onto the cage to keep them flat? Still... that's like how my house is slowly becoming. One nerd room has bled out into nerd decor all over the first floor too, on top of the art in the stairwell & basement. One of the stores in a local mall had a life size Deadpool that I had to seriously force myself keep my wallet in my pocket when I saw it.
  13. In the photos of him that were posted on different sites last year, he was looking a LOT better than he had been about 2 years ago when he appeared to be doing a Crypt Keeper cosplay. So whatever was going on with him a few years ago, he's no longer looking NEARLY as frail as he had been. He's still obviously aged from being 50-ish to ancient in the span of only like 8 years, but he looks only 80-ish instead of 110-ish now.
  14. He asked for that many as part of his contract to do the cover. That's what I was thinking. I just didn't know if Marvel did that sorta thing with ANY artist. On a side note (and I'll whisper this in case you-know-who wanna show up to argue about it some more), this does kill the whole notion of estimating variant print runs based on total sales & ratio. Actually, it doesn't. Creator courtesy copies as well as remaindered case packs have always been factored into the conversation. -J. SHHHHHHH!!!!!
  15. One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of these books inevitably end up absorbed into personal collections over time and the availability of them on the market starts drying up a little bit, and this can sustain some prices just by the supply dropping commensurate with the demand. But, I might be totally wrong too.

  17. I know exactly what you mean. I bought my IH181 a year ago & it's basically gone up by 20% since then. And AF15 is going up just as fast. Dammit... now you convince me... Save & buy an AF15.
  18. This isn't a retailer or store variant though. This is a ratio variant that Marvel & Diamond distribute. I have NO idea how JSC's store got his hands on that many of that ratio variant though. My quick google search showed that this was a 1:100 variant. And I don't see him buying up 9000 regular covers to get that many of the variant.
  19. Those are all 0.5's that I'd be proud to have in my collection though!
  20. Out of all the "replacement" characters (or as Marvel is trying to convince us, "legacy" characters), she's the only one whose book is really holding its own & not basically propped up by corporate mandate & the Marvel diversity police. And it's one of the VERY few that's accepted by new and old readers alike. Time will tell, I wouldn't be upset to be wrong. I'd be very surprised though - people can say what they like about the character and her uniqueness, but she's literally a clone of Wolverine. Literally. In power set & whatnot? Of course. In personality? Not at all, IMO. Yes, there's some little homages to old-school Logan (his proclivity for having teenager girl sidekicks or the risk of berserker rage), but her overall personality is vastly different IMO.
  21. What's next for you after? You mean after I finish my Uncanny run? Hmmm... Damn good question. I'm probably back to finishing my modern runs. I'm almost done with X-Men (Vol 1-3), X-Factor (Vol 1-2), X-Force (Vol 1-3), New Mutants (Vol 1-3) and Generation X. And by that, I mean every issue, every variant, every reprint, every price variant (except pence or newsstand) But in silver age? Probably upgrading some of my UXM run or going after big keys or maybe taking a crack at an ASM Vol 1 run (already done with Vol 2-4). I haven't really given it much thought. Though the "go after big keys exclusively" idea seems fun. Just don't know if I can sit & hoard the cash long enough without buying anything to do that.

  23. My guess is they would just make a Wolverine movie. I mean... why dilute the Wolverine brand among the non-comic public? Pure speculation all around of course. You mean Laura Kinney Wolverine? I mean this Logan Wolverine character, that my comic book illiterate mother knows. She recognizes Professor X, Wolverine, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Spider-man. I expect a Laura Kinney movie around the same time we get a Batgirl stand alone. Because Hugh Jackman is done playing the character. The only option for Wolverine going forward is to re-cast the Logan/Wolverine character, or move onto the Laura Kinney Wolverine
