  1. I've ordered many, many times and always got my books in great condition. However, I must also say that I've never graded any of my books (but I do identify when there are folds, spine indentations or other minor details with the books). For this Gamora cover I've heard that there are some complaints in how the books are being shipped now, so maybe you can also complain directly to their site. I still have not received my copies, but will let you know how it goes. As I'm outside the US, maybe it'll take a month or so. =/ I got my Gamora's last week with the same results. I concur, that it was not a shipping problem. The books were packaged nicely and the box was not damaged. I don't think they guarantee 9.8 . IMO, it's just the way it is. The books were similar to an LCS comic that was on the rack for a few hours. Just light handling flaws. Mine came in fine. Probably in the 9.6-9.8 range. But sometimes things happen. By the sound of it, your books are intact & they don't guarantee perfect books. That's the risk. My X-Men 92 Psylocke color variant had a couple very very minor spine tics on it when I got it that probably would make it a 9.2-9.4, but the other dozen or 3 books that I've bought from them have been in the 9.6-9.8 range. Sometimes you just gotta accept that not every book, even pulled immediately out of the box & bagged/boarded, is going to be near-perfect. sorry to hear about your luck. But this is something that could happen anywhere.
  2. I know that particular challenge! I'm about 50 short of my 1-544 (including price variants, variants and reprints) goal now but 1 & 4 are the 2 big books left on my list. Best of luck, good sir!
  3. Oh, I know. Once I finally saw the iron fist dragon (apparently I was just looking too closely & not taking in the image as a whole at first), all of it clicked for me. That's why I thought I was missing something. I didn't realize that the folds made the dragon logo at first. It was like one of those hidden picture things for me apparently. I totally missed it. Now that I SEE it, I love it & totally get it. Awesome.
  4. I sold a red variant X-23 #1 a few months ago for about $40, so I don't think it's really moved much. Seems like there's more fluctuation recently, actually. I think sale range when I sold mine was in the $30-45 range for anything in the previous month. Now it's all over the place by a cursory glance.
  5. Oh derp... I just saw what art that folded page shows... it's the Iron Fist dragon logo. I'm a maroon... don't mind me. Now I get it. I thought it was just a cool design at first... sorry guys. I'm apparently lacking caffeine or something.
  6. That looks really cool, but can I ask what the point of a folded page book is? I mean, I've never seen that before that I'm aware of so am I missing the point of it? Is there something special about it beyond being super cool looking? Sorry, I just feel like I'm totally missing something here.
  7. You youngins have no idea how hard it is to yell in all-caps via smoke signals.
  8. It's all-things-comics. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.
  9. Added these to my office because my nerd room is virtually out of wall space & I didn't have a great spot in the house for them... so I took them into the office. They fit great right above my desk. My sister-in-law gave them to me for my birthday.
  10. No remark for me either but I got my ABC set & they look awesome. Definite 9.8 candidates. Love this set even though I don't read this title.
  11. Just bought some silver age X-Men off B & they came super fast & exactly as described at a great price.
  12. Picked up a few lots of ASM from G-man recently & they came packaged excellently & super freaking fast. Would definitely do business again!
  13. I won't pay more than retail, so I'm waiting for them to become more plentiful at the stores. I contemplated just going the RetroPie route with the old-school controllers (or waiting for someone to release an NES-looking Raspberry Pi case rather than the typical case. I just like the idea of seeing this NES-looking box sitting next to the TV.
  14. Yup Prices on ebay bounce around on that one. I remember getting a $65 store credit for issues 1 - 4 of that back in the day. Is anything being done with Gen 13? I thought I heard Fairchild was part of the DC universe now. What about the rest? I always thought the original Gen 13, not the later creators interpretations, but the first run, up through when Ed Benes illustrated the book, were really fun good reads with interesting well developed characters. Warren Ellis is currently re-launching & "curating" the Wildstorm universe characters as a separate imprint at DC (like the Young Animal imprint) and I'm going to bet that they will eventually be part of that project. It's starting with just a single title The Wild Storm and going to branch out from there after a few months.
  15. I wouldn't be interested in one with a missing wrap, personally
  16. Got my shipping notification yesterday early morning as well. Looking forward to seeing these books.
  17. I hate discussing it too as it's a very gray and unsettling topic. If Chip is not mentally well that will come out. If I'm wrong that will come out too. The point is not to be right or wrong, though. It's to do the best we can. After all these pages, this post made my day. I know it was asked earlier in the thread, and don't remember a reply, but does Chip still hold any of your inventory? Good question. If he does Vintage should denote that on any books in future sales threads. Folks should know that buying from Vintage might mean getting a book shipped(or not) by Chip. The only books Chip shipped for me were the ones he auctioned on eBay for me. The only 1 single exception was the one book that was returned and shipped to sacentaur. Other than that, Chip doesn't ship for me. I actually resent that sort of talk as except for a few books that were shipped slowly by me over the last 13 years because real life gets in the way and the 1 incident with Chip nobody has ever had an issue with me. As much as I've disagreed with you on this particular issue, I think the bolded item above is out of line/over the top. I'm not so sure. If people demand full disclosure about the pressing of a book, then surely they would want full disclosure about a dealer having ties/association with a proven fraudster? Who wouldn't want to know that before throwing big bucks at something? If a person is going to throw support behind someone like this Chip character, then they have to expect some flak, not act all affronted like their character is being questioned. You bathe in mud, you're gonna get dirty. I think that's absurd . That's getting into witch hunt territory. I mean... what...because Chip's hands touched them they're now tainted books? Do they have cooties? That's kind of the implication with comparing it to pressing, since pressing is something that has been done to a book, then Chip having them in his possession is something "done to a book" as well. If books for sale were still in Chip's possession, then MAYBE I could see that being something that should be disclosed since the buyer should be aware that someone with a history of not shipping books in a timely manner is the one responsible for shipping the books they're buying. But that's not the case. So it's a moot point
  18. I only had 1 dealing with Chip & it went smoothly. So I'm saddened to see how poorly everyone else's transactions recently have gone, and the history of his poor service at other points in the past. So I'm regretfully going to have to vote yes here, regardless of potentially extraneous circumstances, because a history of bad service is a history of bad service, and that is what the HoS is for.
  19. I've got a stack of like 30 JSC books that I really want to submit & probably will over the next year or 3.
  20. Broke down & bought a UXM 19 variant 9.6 on eBay. It came in today. Love it. Still don't know why the 1:50 colors run twice what the b&w 1:100's run, but whatever.
  21. Mine were sitting in my mailbox when I came home from work yesterday. I really love that cover. Great condition too.
  22. Got my signed red/B&W set of the Champions the other day. Looked great. Surprised I haven't gotten a shipping notification on the Gamora set yet though. That was released a week ago, wasn't it?
  23. I made 2 bid retractions a while back on a seller who I found to be slightly unreasonable so I wonder if those "policy violations" expire eventually? (Full disclosure: this was a few years ago; I had already won 2 auctions with this seller, communicated with him that he had 2 or 3 more that were closing about 12 hours outside of his payment window that I had bids on and was intending on winning, and asked if he would allow me to wait until they were done to pay or if I paid now, would he could combine the shipping in the event that I won any or all of the others. He refused & said he wouldn't make any exceptions, and that he wouldn't combine the shipping after the fact & hold the first 2 wins, so I retracted the bids, paid what I'd already won & moved on. Never realized they were "policy violations" though)
  24. Lots of tripping hazards & a strong breeze will eliminate the small amount of coverage that's there.
