  1. I really enjoyed MOS. I also thought the end with him killing Zod was a shocking surprise - movies (especially superhero movies) are very predictable, it was a very good curve ball IMO. Fans need to realize that directors can take creative liberties with characters and it doesn't always ruin the character - superhero movies do not need to be 100% loyal to the comic book material. I appreciate the darker tone DC is taking with their movies and wish that Avengers AOU had a darker tone to it (then it might have been good).
  2. Great books and presentation. -J. Is that frame a custom piece? Would you mind providing more details on it (either here or via PM).
  3. Agreed - but a tough book to part with for people who have them due to its scarcity. If you sell a Hulk 1 you know you can find another copy if you regret it, much harder with SC4.
  4. ..... fandom wasn't as organized in the early 70s and JO134 kind of snuck under the radar.... so it would be more scarce, relatively. The Kirby D.C. #1's were hoarded.... but not by today's standards. Personally, I like both of them. The covers on each are favorites of mine but are too different to really choose one over the other...... but FP 1 really seems to be growing on me..... and Darkseid really is a citizen of Fourth World proper. Finding a bone white cover on FP 1 that is not miscut isn't an easy proposition . If you dig Darkseid then you should really get both. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u ..... raw copies of each can still be snagged reasonably . What he said I love the cover on JO134 (one of my favorites) but also love the fact that FP1 was a Kirby - both cool books. I somewhat regret selling my FP1 - but it was used to buy other books I wanted more
  5. Eric purchased a book from me and paid quickly - very easy transaction!
  6. Here is my ticket - happy to finally own this book and it goes nicely with the Hulk 181 CGC 8.5 I have, now I just need an X-Men 94 CGC 8.5 to go with it
  7. I think I am skipping Fan Expo ... but may go Thursday.
  8. hmmm $3K per point for a blue label - what does a purple sell at per point???
  9. So if at the end of BB54 Robin had turned to Kid Flash and Aqualad and said hey this team-up worked well, we should form a team and call it the "Teen Titans" this would have been enough (in the mind of the BB60 supporters) to form the Teen Titans?
  10. So what in your opinion would have made BB54 the definitive first appearance of the Teen Titans?
  11. I just don't get how this is a debate at all: - The last panel of BB54 declares them to be a new team - The heroes undeniably teamed up to solve a problem/battle some evil - DC claims this to be their first appearance - They were missing a "key" member (as many other teams have been - i.e., Avengers) - Even if it was accepted that BB was a "team-up" issue what does this change? So this team-up proved to be successful so they decided to keep it going, how does that change that the first appearance of the team was BB54? - They didn't have their official name yet? How does this change whether they appeared or not - if in Action Comics 1 Superman appeared and did everything he did in that issue, but wasn't called Superman until Action Comics 2 - would that mean you wouldn't consider Superman's first appearance to be Action Comics 1? The first appearance is clearly BB54 - in my opinion. (by the way I don't own either book - but want a BB54, so someone who thinks it isn't the first appearance of the TT please sell me one at a steep discount (thumbs u )
  12. Keep in mind I have not read this entire thread (who has time for that) - but doesn't the last page posted of BB54 proclaim "Once again a startling new team of DC heroes has triumphed!" Doesn't this satisfy the need for a formal proclamation of a team? COmbined that with DC stating this was the first TT and isn't that enough? Furthermore, with regards to Wonder Girl not joining the team until BB60 - why does that even matter if one core member is not present? So do the Avengers not form until issue #4 when Captain America joins (who is arguably the most important member of the Avengers?)
  13. It's Doomsday. It's actually an entire page...just like ASM #298. It's a classic cameo. Whether a full body shot is included or not isn't relevant. We know it's Doomsday from the context. People knew it was Doomsday's first appearance long before CGC, and we didn't need CGC to tell us it was "First Doomsday Cameo" to care, because it certainly had value long before CGC. It is quite incorrect to say it would have "little to no value" without the notation. The entire hobby doesn't hinge on label notations, after all. (Man, how could would it have been to be reading ASM when #298 came out, and wondering who the hell was wearing Spidey's symbiote...?) I take your point - but I see a difference between ASM 298 (seeing Venom in shadows but seeing his torso up and his face and some dialogue) versus MOS17 (seeing only an arm and a fist 3 times). My value comment was also directed at MOS17 being worth almost double MOS18 - which is obviously also based on scarcity (if you can use that term for either MOS17 and 18). While I do think MOS17 deserves a slight bump over the other books in the DOS arc, it shouldn't be nearly as expensive as it is IMO. You're saying you believe in the fist bump? What it's worth is what someone is willing to pay for it. I guess what you're saying is that you value it less on average than other collectors? I always said it was "a very very weak cameo" and I stand by that. Some may disagree and think that is what a cameo is or there are no distinctions in cameo appearances (I don't). I see a distinct difference between seeing a character's face and having them interact with other characters/have dialogue and a fist hitting a wall three times - but to each their own I guess.

  15. MOS17 is a very very weak cameo - a fist hitting a wall is not a cameo IMO. WIthout CGC noting First Doomsday Cameo it would have little to no value. Again, I think the relative popularity and high census numbers of MOS18 pushed Doomsday collectors to look for something more unique (not that MOS17 is all that unique). With that being said - someone sell me an MOS 18 4th and 5th print in CGC 9.8 I will also take a 9.9 first print (thumbs u
  16. With the high census numbers in 9.8 I cannot see it becoming a very expensive book/taking a huge leap - but who knows maybe it will become a $200-$250 book?
  17. I have several nice 8.5 gsx I am going to hold off for now - too hard bringing books into Canada with import fees and taxes etc.
  18. Nice book So Hulk 180 CGC 8.5 to match or an X-Men 94 CGC 8.5 ... need help deciding As a Wolverine collector, I'd want 180 next, then GSXM1, then 94. As an Xmen collector, I'd want GSXM1 next, then 94. Getting a 180 would depend on how much I like Wolverine. This is my dilemma I collect both and want all 3 of those books hahahaha just no good leads on a GSXM1 right now.
  19. Nice book So Hulk 180 CGC 8.5 to match or an X-Men 94 CGC 8.5 ... need help deciding
  20. My ticket - and still one of my favorite books that I own If it wasn't for that piece out of the front cover it would likely be a 4.0. One day I shall upgrade ..... maybe
  21. My ticket Now the question is do I pick up a Hulk 180 CGC 8.5 to match or an X-Men 94 CGC 8.5 hahahaha
  22. Looking for these two pages: - Superman 74 Page 20 - Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey #1 Page 40 Both sold within the last year - any idea who has them?
  23. Thanks everyone - happy to be a member and happy DC Silver Age keys are getting some love finally
  24. Thought I would post this - still missing the 4th and 5th printing (let me know if you know where I can get them)
