  1. Stunning copy! I know I already said it - but such an amazing cover!
  2. Top 10 is hard - but I think Batman 232 is easily the most important as it is a true first appearance of a top 5 Batman villain. Also would have to have Batman 251, 244, 227, 234 and Tec 400 on the list. I would also throw Swamp Thing 7 on - just for the amazing cover
  3. because, it was decided when CGC opened it's doors many years ago, they would use Overstreet price guide notations, so really, it's Overstreet who has had it wrong these many years. I actually looked into getting the error corrected in Overstreet, over 10 years ago. . I believe they wanted photo color copies for proof. It seemed more work than it was worth. If I had a copy of either book I would undertake to get this fixed! I feel like it is such an obvious error especially if the inside confirms that it is Lois on the cover of Action 27. At the time, I owned 3 Actions. #27, #28 and #29 Well I stand by my statement - if someone gets me colour photocopies/pictures of Action 27 proving it is Lois on the Front Cover (I would assume she is referenced on the interior of the book) then I will endeavor to get this travesty corrected

  5. So CGC has the label wrong and AC27 is the first cover appearance? How does CGC not correct this it seems fairly obvious?
  6. Overstreet and CGC list the first Lois Lane cover as Action Comics 29 and while I am not disagreeing the woman on the cover of Action Comics 27 looks almost identical to "Lois Lane" on the cover of Action 29. Is this just a similarity or is it possible the first cover is Action 27?
  7. Interesting stance. There was another board member who was a critic that saw things the very same way (dgarthwaite). Unless you met his movie high standards, then your standards were questionable. There are quite a few folks that appreciated this film more than you did. And that's okay either way. HaHaHa a poll done on a comic book forum. You are getting the opinions of people who love comics on a comic film of course the numbers are skewed in your favor. That is like asking fans of Metallica to rate their new album. The point here is you are getting mad at anybody who comes in this thread and gives legitimate reasons why this film is not good in many ways, with your only excuse being this is an appreciation thread or there are a lot of people who disagree with you. Man of Steel is a film that gets worse with each DC Universe film that comes out that is bad tarnishing this film even more. The only redeeming things about this film are Snyder's unique cinematography and the music score. Just because I don't want to read 17 pages of argument - why is Man of Steel so bad (i.e., what specific issues does the movie have that make it so terrible (and by specific I am hoping we can get actual criticisms as opposed to broad sweeping generalities))? My main issue with it was the Johnathan Kent death scene was stupid and unrealistic. But that doesn't ruin the movie for me - just my main gripe.
  8. This was going to be my answer. Same for me OR it may be the newsstand cover for Superman 75
  9. well Snyder wasn't capbale of putting 2.5 superheroes in the same movie without it being a muddled mess. Fitting in five or six in a natural way into one movie...I'd say a lot of us don't have faith. Though Geoff Johns will probably be able to help out a fair bit. I'm excited about Wonder Woman, have little faith in Justice League, have some interest in Flash, a little bit more in Aquaman, and ZERO interest in Cyborg. I'd actually be fine if they scrapped this set of DCEU after JL bombs. Just give us a wonder woman sequel and move the whole DCEU to space with a bunch of Green Lantern movies (that ideally don't suck or involve blake lively). Movie 1: Hal Jordan Reboot Movie 2: Hal Jordan vs Sinestro Movie 3: Hal Jordan vs the GL Corps and Guardians after the destruction of coast city. Install Kyle Rayner Movie 4: Kyle Rayner and John Stewart Movie 5: Green Lantern Corps: Sinestro Corps War Do a random Guy Gardner prequel one-off movie at some point. I still have high hopes for Justice League. BUT would definitely watch that GL movie road map you laid out
  10. Very very nice - I was planning to put that "mini-run" and a Green Lantern showcase "mini-run" together .... then I decided to buy a house (so the SC4 and SC22 became part of the downpayment ).
  11. Nice, old label goodness.. Awesome copy!
  12. I really really want back in this club!!! I need to track down a low grade copy (CGC 1.0 - 3.0) ... but they seem tough to find (especially for us Canucks).
  13. I would choose Showcase 30 - because it is a great cover, first solo book/story, and most importantly the Showcase title is amazing (IMO)
  14. I love 139 - one of my favorite villains and covers period. BUT I still think Flash 123 is much more important - and like others have said I think it is an undervalued book.
  15. Interesting opinions thus far. I am bit surprised there has been no love for Flash 110 - but perhaps I just overvalue it (while I don't think it should be the #2 book (or number one in this group) I am surprised that it doesn't have some backers ..... I guess no Wally fans).
  16. My reasoning as well. I think the multiverse idea is one of the most important (non-first appearance) events in the DC universe. I am actually shocked Flash 123 is not more highly regarded than it is. But I also understand the significance of Flash 105 and the scarcity and importance of SC8. So it is a tough call still. But to me Flash 123 is important not only for the Flash, but also the Flash's role in the DC universe.
  17. Having sold my SC4 and with prices sky-rocketing like they are, I doubt I will be able to replace it/I doubt I will be able to stomach trying to replace it So I was trying to think what a suitable substitute for it may be, which caused me to wonder what the second most important silver age flash book is. To me the contenders would be: - Showcase 8 - Showcase 13 - Showcase 14 - Flash 105 - Flash 110 - Flash 123 - Flash 139 In terms of being second most important - I personally think it comes down to Showcase 8, Flash 105 or Flash 123. I would give the edge to Flash 123 - but wanted to hear other opinions.
  18. Yep, some people are saying this is better than the Force Awakens, and in their top three all-time Star Wars films. I am going to see it next week-end! I sure hope it is better then the Force Awakens (which was not that good IMO) ..... but I will say Rogue One looks great thus far.
  19. Recently sold the majority of my collection to help fund a house purchase ..... but managed to hold onto this beauty, and I realized that I hadn't posted a pic:
  20. Very very NICE! After liquidating most of my collection (including my beloved SC22) - I am back on the hunt for a low grade copy myself.
  21. While I agree that getting a book signed by Stan Lee that he wrote is great (and preferable) I also think getting a book from a series that means a lot to you that Stan Lee helped create is also great - i.e., getting Stan Lee to sign a Spider-Man or X-Men book for example that he didn't necessarily write but means a lot to you (after all neither of those characters/teams would be what they are without Stan Lee). I personally went this route and got Stan Lee to sign my copies of X-Men 141 and 142 - not because he wrote them, but because of the role he played in the creation of the X-Men and the personal importance of both of those books to me (they were my first big comic book purchase when I was a kid in the 90's and I remember having to save for them and seeing them on the shelf of my LCS). So I guess what I am trying to say is having an ASM 300 signed by Stan Lee is not a bad idea as he was instrumental in the creation of Spider-Man and it is a big key Spider-Man book.
  22. I don't mean this as an insult (rather just my excitement for the WW movie), but one of my favorite things about Suicide Squad was seeing the extended WW preview on the big screen
