I'm just reading this thread chronologically, so, I don't know if this has been answered already, but, Seth Abrahamson is a NYT contributor who also has his own audience on Substackm Twitter, etc. and he has been all over this scandal of late - I'm sure that's who he was referring to.

Just catching up. Yes, when I think of Seth I think of NYT.  Sorry, that's where my head went.....thanks for connecting the dots for me.......

It's actually blown up, so it's pretty hard to hide now.    Multiple places and people are all over this issue now.   If they try to hide it, it's only going to get worse because the spotlight is already on them.

Everyone had a good thing going. Why be greedy and ruin it along with everyone's reputation.  Can that hobby be saved ? Other names will come out I would assume....

Hilarious; I feel for you bro.

Questions for Jim Halperin that will never* be answered:

    • Would you provide publicly the complete list of items you and close family/friend relations have bought through/from Heritage?
    • Would you identify and publicly disclose any and all Terms and Conditions differences as a purchaser you and close family/friend relations have had that are not Heritage public boilerplate?
    • Would you provide publicly the complete list of items you and close family/friend relations have consigned to/through Heritage?
    • Would you identify and publicly disclose any and all Terms and Conditions differences as a consignor you and close family/friend relations have had that are not Heritage public boilerplate?

Are there more than I've listed above? Probably. Feel free to add them to this thread :)

*Prove me wrong Jim...I am waiting, but not holding my breath.

what does this mean? what is looking worse and worse?

There are so many new articles on it. I don't want to misrepresent it.  Google WATA Scandal. Looks like the NYT is involved now. It doesn't look good for anyone associated with the grading and purchasing of the big ticket video items.  I'm worried that this would lead to losing trust with our 2 third party grading companies  from the community

That's what I was thinking. Either no fee or darn near no fee for the reason you said. I still believe the owner of the book is taking a risk. It's at 660,00 with 14 days left and that seems pretty solid but at the end of the day I gotta think it will sell for at least 10% more on HA or CC.  But I'm sure the owner has their reasons to choose Goldin and youre right it will get its price either way I suppose. Its an 8.0 Bat 1 for crying out loud.

As we know the last Bat 1 8.0 sold for just over 1 million on CC in April. I use gocollect and they have no listing of this current 8.0 selling for 850,000 in February. I don't know how they could have missed that.

I hate using the phrase "if I had the money" but if I had the money this would be the Bat 1 I would go after. Love those Larsons and this one looks real nice.

Another thread here talks about the owner of the Larson book getting guaranteed payout by Goldin as a minimum.   That makes perfect sense to me.  No other reason to go with a new entity in terms of comics

Bob Storms was the one who did the amazing job. Over the last 18 months or so, I've been paying a lot of attention as to how he positions the enormous variety of high quality comics he has consigned to him. I think just storing that many High Value books would give  me the willies. When he told me what he was going to ask for my AF 15, I nearly went through the floor in disbelief.  When we got the collection out to sell after it sat for close to 50 years, I actually thought that it might be worth $3K.  We certainly had offers to take all that stress off of our hands early on but persistent reaching out and listening led me ultimately to Storms.  God what an education I got from sitting with him for those two days going through this pile.  Maybe someday the JIM and such will have value but not as long as Loki falls for cardboard cutouts.

If Bob Storms is so smart why can't he grow hair ?

I kinda get the feeling many of the Bitcoins (assuming they are grabbing these huge books) know who Gwen Stacey is (was). Hmmm, maybe they do. I still cry when I read 121 & 122. I recall racing to the grocery and sitting quietly outside the store in March '73 and reading 121. I double checked to make sure no buddies were around to see me

That story freaked me out. I still remember reading at my grandmothers and could not believe what I was seeing/reading

  8. ... There will probably come a day when the Allentown Detective 27 will supplant the Church Action 1, much in the same way that AF 15 has permanently supplanted both FF 1 and Showcase 4 .... popularity DOES matter 2c GOD BLESS...

I believe this to be true.  Tec 27 will ultimately be the king of the hobby

Only 23 comics included in this first offering; they're good comics, but this is...underwhelming to say the least.

And there are minimum bids on every big book (possibly all 23 ?)  How is that supposed to differentiate yourself from the competition ?  Maybe because it's their first auction
