I thought they said August for this auction,  I have not heard anything other than the promo video>>>? what is going on?

It's August 26 I believe.   All consignments have to be in by the 10th  They are not doing a good job of promoting this auction IMO.especially to comic book people.   No way those books don't have a some sort of deal attached to them for them to use them (especially their big 3) .  They are trying to do too much now IMO.  Comics. Video games. Entertainment memorabilia. Stay in your lane or roll it out well

Goldin could become another Mound City ,  but I guess the first auction would have to be a success though..

Whatever happened to Mound City--I forgot about them !  We'll know soon enough if it's a success.  Ay idea how long their auctions run ?  I'm not sure it's worth the extra commission you have to pay as a seller (at least at this point)  Still cheaper than their card rates to sell

I had heard there was a supposed issue as to whether CBCS would continue to operate without their purchase, so I suppose they did keep it in existence. Now whether the current owners has as much skill as Blackstone in asset management and  for sure not as much resources either there is no contest, I see CCG growing and evolving into even greater market share. Blackstone's purchase is CBCS worst nightmare. They could never beat them before, but now they really no chance resource wise.

Watch Beckett to either be purchased or for them to spin off CBCS....the only buyer I think would be CC or possibly CL..that would be the only way they really could compete. Having a major auction house  offer " free" grading from their in house company might add market share to that auction house.  I know at some point Ha or the owner's of Ha had some ownership interest in CGC as well as possibly CC. So, if they still do, they would be out as for purchase or merger. I think the best possibly would be a direct sale to CGC to consolidate market share.

    Interesting. Thanks

You know, at the time I didn't hate those two (original) FF movies.  After all, we can't judge them by today's standards, in terms of either the available visual effects or the lack of "universe-building" that the MCU is now known for.  I think they were reasonably well-received at the time, at least the first one.  Even the second one wasn't completely awful.

I never saw the Miles Teller version because I heard such terrible things.

The first half of the Miles Teller version I thought was excellent.  It's like a different movie after that.  I think the movie got a bad rap overall

This $900M investment must have been pretty newsworthy as I saw it featured on the CNBC Business News along with stories about it on some of the other networks and streaming news.  hm

Unless I missed it, I certainly didn't see the same media hype when Blackstone did their $500M investment to take over CCG. (shrug)

Renee Witherspoon > Funny Books.  Been doing some research on Stephen Schwarzman.  Not a guy I would even say "hi" to at Temple.

  6. I guess I get the price for the turtle book when I start to look at Pokemon cards and rookie cards on some players who have only been in the league just a few years.  Not to mention Brady who is still playing. Prices being driven by a younger generation than old school collectors.  This is their nostalgia. for the record the TMNT's are fake superheroes

I noted in the Promise thread that there was a new 8.5 Tec 27 back on June 9th.

But the pedigree copies you mention make sense as yes, both are owned by the same long-time collector (last interaction I had with him was around 2004 when he bought a 9.4 Journey 83 from Keith and me).

Who does this long time collector prefer in terms of auction houses ?  Is Arnie Sawyer the owner as previously mentioned ?
