Saw another Archie cover circa 1955 that has Jughead asking Archie why Reggie is always so happy. Response: He's surrounded by (Betty & Veronica's) ample "tomatoes".

Archie is supposed to be a wholesome comic. How did this cover ever get by the Comics Code? This is why Archie is still single after 60 years.

Capt Flag's cape makes everyone of his covers patriotic. Unfortunately, the writing in most Fawcett's is not very memorable. Cover so nice, I am going to post it twice.

Back in 1972 or 73 when that Action #1 sold for a record price, there were no deemed pedigrees yet. I don't think any of Howard Rogofsky's "tape is not resto" early golden age would be considered a pedigree. He was 1 of the earliest mail order dealers advertising in Marvel comics.

Marvel Tales Ann #1, other Marvel title annuals & Secret Origins (DC) series from the 60s have collector value due to the vintage & the fact that they were squarebound reprints. Similiar to DC 100 pg Super-spectaculars. Reprints but squarebound collectors love them.

For golden age pages or coverless comics, Cgc slab is good for preservative qualities: deacidification paper. Force a spine rolled comic into a slab to try to offset the spine roll.

I leave feedback after the buyer confirms receiving the goods & is satisfied. This usually means leaving feedback right after the seller leaves it first for me. Too many potential problems with my eBay transactions that cross the border (98%), if I leave feedback right after the client paid.

U are correct. It is hard to justify an increase in Overstreet if there are no copies of a comic turning over locally or via internet auctions (cgc at Heritage) the last 5 years.

Seems like a lot of collectors have overlooked Gil Kane b/c he was 1 of the pillars of the comic book industry for so many decades for both National/DC, Marvel & independents. Seems like he drew 1/2 of the 1974-75 Marvel bronze covers.

Some of the hi-lights or low lights from 2002 forum include: 1. greggy being put in the penalty box at the same time as rickdogg, hammer/meth 2. butter pedigree 3. chicken little. Crash? What crash? 4. Heritage inside staff bidding against u above the hidden reserve price. 5. JP smashes all comic & comic art buying & sales records in the same year.

Since Tim Vigil was able to get Faust filmed straight to video & dvd, perhaps he could do the same with EO. 1 nasty R rated book. Several years ago, I saw a tv movie that I thought was Dr. Strange. Think it was called Dr Mordred. Also saw it once at the local chain video store for rental.

After Marvel/Sony does a FF 48-50 Galactus/Surfer/Watcher adaptation film they should do Surfer vs Thor. How about DC characters? All they have on the immediate horizon appears to be Catwoman w/ Ashley Judd. Don't forget to list the villians u would like to see on film. e.g. Green Lantern vs Sinestro, FF vs the megalomaniac Dr Doom.

I started using backing boards in 1987 after my comics were bent in 1986 at my 1st local comicon. Boards were being used at some of the local comicshops to protect their hi-grade moderns that CVM said was worth big $$. Even today, some comic retailers will not display their silver or gold in mylars or mylites. They want the collector to buy the raw bk, then buy their mylars & acid free boards fr the retailer to generate more retail sales. Switched to mylars & mylites when I was able to buy case lot at a time at San Diego comicon around 1988.

Let's see, what was a better investment in 1975? 1 copy Action #1 or 1,000 copies of Howard Duck #1? Howard rules.

Direct distribution to comicshops started around 1975. That is 1 of the reasons there is lots of backstock on Marvel #1s from that more common bronze period (e.g. Giant Size squarebounds & Annuals). Also, I don't think acidic backing boards were readily distributed/used until around 1985 or 1986.

IMHO if the cgc census spikes up 150% next yr for 9.4 up Hulk 181 or Gt Sz X-men 1, ppl will get nervous & bid prices will DROP. Key bronze mkt crash/correction in Dec. 2003?
