  1. Remember comics are for reading otherwise how would you know Batman 1 is a Joker classic? Decent page quality too:
  2. OK, here is another Tec 27 missing front cover only: Batman 1 is more affordable though: Aaahhh, I can smell the pages of this low grade trash:
  3. Bill Everett's origin of Amaz-Man #5 came out around Aug/39 before Marvel #1: Burgos, Everett Marvel Comics 1 (1939):
  4. Lots of nerds collect chess covers (e.g. JLA #1). Guess marionette or joker collectors may key in on the GL #1.
  5. I would equate the Show #22 in 5.0 closer to JIM 83, as it is an earlier and scarcer comic compared to Avengers 1, X-men 1. ToS 39 has an unpopular light green/grey cover comparable to the SA Green Lantern 1 (joker puppet cover). gator Rick's Show #22 retail prices are soooooo July 26/09.
  6. roy, The splash page looks like this in glorious b/w:
  7. fyi, Alter Ego mag #85 May/09 has a 20 pg. article on Centaurs plus scans of GA comics and OA signed by L. Renee (Planets). Nice b/w pics of Bill Everett circa 1939 too! For mainstream marketing, it has a Buckler DC treasury cover of Superman vs Shazam.
  8. True to life, the greggy9k will fall down in Greek Town or in the presence of Greeks!
  9. Is that Mile High Church coding on the National #25?
  10. I like the pose on Superman #1 better than Action #1 even though the latter begat all the other spandex clad cape wearing superheroes many irradiated.
  11. I am glad Theo kept his pants on for this photo opportunity thanks to Diamond's Scoop: http://scoop.diamondgalleries.com/public/default.asp?t=1&m=1&c=34&s=266&ai=77764
  12. Big kudos to dem1138 for breaking my previous all-time sales record on 1 paper collectible item by 10%! Fast payments, item shipped and rec'd by David via int'l fed ex.
  13. I wholesaled a decent condition (no long tears) back cover only for a Detect #29 to a forumite for $100. Not sure what % of Ostreet good that was.
  14. I sold this to a forumite who I believe wanted it for Frazetta Signature Series: An underrated Frazetta sci-fi cover:
  15. Checked the Jerry Weist price guide for OA, fanzines and pulps. There are 2 different ERB John Carter of Mars compilations. Mine is the earlier 1 at 1930; next volume 2 circa 1936. Similiar to an annual by comic book standards.
  16. What do you mean? Did someone remove the four ERB stories from the individual issues and put them together in one? Just curious. I don't know enough about these ERB pulps. Almost looks like 4 remaindered pulps may have been rebound into a John Carter annual of sorts. The 1st chapter says, "April, 1930" with corresponding front cover. The 1st 4 pulp covers from this link are all included in my 1 volume. http://www.erbzine.com/mag2/0227.html
  17. This is an unusual all ERB pulp loaded with 4 different John Carter, Warlord of Mars type covers:
  18. Is this person different from Larry Ivey of Florida. Google him and you will find he has a LONG history in comic fandom setting up arguably the 2nd comic book shop in USA circa 1967, and the 1st original comic book art convention. (thumbs u
  19. carolinaComix, Pretty sure Brad Savage is still selling comic related items on eBay. greggy used to know his handle. Brad used to send out quarterly for sale lists to his mail order clients and was willing to trade for his Annette Funiciello wants.
  20. Brad Savage invested heavily in multiple copies of FF 48 and Avengers 4. He was not afraid to pay full retail for the best nm raw copies he could find. Brad was collecting Annette Funicello (Beach Party surfing movies) items. Did not know he was also focussed on Marilyn. Did not realized the J Maybruck interview was over 2 hrs long. Twice could not stay to listen to the end of the Comic Zone on the weekend because it was dinner time or nap time. No option to toggle to the last 30 mins of the interview either.
  21. $2k should be petty cash to a comic book dealer/flipper. Now Greg Jortner will lose 10 times the revenue in future comic/eBay sales and good will. Hopefully, we won't see fisticuffs at NYC comic-con this Friday April 18/08 in front of the Silver Age Comics booth due to the allegations.
  22. IMO, the Philippine artists who worked on Warren mag covers like Creepy, Eerie, Vampirella are overlooked. e.g. Sanjulian and Esteban Maroto. Fans remember other mag painters more like Frazetta on Epic, Creepy, Eerie, or Boris on Savage Sword of Conan.
  23. Top row has some Centaurs to entertain 1 of our newest members: Mr. Danker.
  24. This is a re-post as Mr. Danker is new to our midst. Some Centaurs and other GA from my low grade collection:
  25. Is the tantric union chapter illustrated by anyone infamous?
