VALUE GRADE TURNAROUND TIME
aardvark88 replied to Frankielo's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Sounds accurate. I am in Canada and it took a speedy 8.5 months since I dropped the comics off well BEFORE busy comicon summer season. -
The cLink Mask Comics #2 Cgc 1.8 closed at $5,707 compared to another 'classic' horror/torture cover on Mister Mystery #6 Cgc 5.0 CVA Exceptional that closed at $3,067.
-
After Cyber Monday and before X-mas, coverless early Harvey 'Speed Comics' #1 and 2 is all I can afford.
-
Anyone know if Flanagan drew any interiors for GA DC comics?

From the $1 bin, got some nice Dark Horse and Eclipse Wolverton reprints for reading pleasure: Rain of atomic fire from 'The end of the Earth:' -
Up to 200 8' vendor's tables full of comics, graphic novels, pop culture, and sports cards at Harbour Convention Centre (ex-Edgewater Casino) in downtown 760 Pacific Ave, Vancouver, BC, Canada on Sunday Feb. 9, 2020. The promoter is trying to confirm Vancouver Canuck superstar Elias Pettersson (the 'Swedish Gretzky') as one of the top sports signing guests of honor. I was told each vendor table is $125. If a vendor consigns 5 lots to their internet and live comic/sports card auction, table rate reduced to $100 plus GST tax. Corporate sponsors include Upper Deck Sports Cards, Canuck Auctions (online), and Tazmanian Comics. Website is in preliminary stages and still being updated with guests, auction, and vendor info. New comic and sports collectibles downtown Vancouver, BC event Event date is about 1 week before Fan Expo Vancouver. A wide variety of comics and other collectibles will be available:

I sold the original Byrne pencil finished drawing of 'Dark Phoenix and Black Queen' on eBay about 20 years ago. It was originally commissioned in Vancouver, BC circa Jan, 1980 or 1981 when Byrne was signing at a local 2.5 day con. Later, a blue line was created that Scott Williams inked, thus Byrne never touched this bristol board.

I have seen the results of this conservation process in hand. A silver age comic with moderate yellowing even on a darker colored cover will become much cleaner and crisper in appearance. I don't really recommend a square bound comic, as that would be a bigger challenge (but not impossible) since this first sample is a 'freebie.'

Was the run-up in the 1990s all in my head?

Yes, syncopation for GA in early 1990s: -
The beauty of the L.B. Cole Mask run is that there are only 2 issues collect. Those that have either issue 'have' to buy the other to easily complete the set/pair, as long as one has enough US $$ greenback$.

+1. Shocking to me that Mask #2 CGC 1.8 on ComicLink already over $5,600 with 9 more days to go. L.B. Cole masterpiece Mask #2

The coverless Hulk #181 is a bit strange in that it is missing the 2 staples plus has a coupon (perhaps the Marvel Value Stamp?) cut out. Sunday should have a young crowd. Tim Horton's minor league hockey players will be there plus it is FREE admission for all as it is their Family Day promo.

Comicsam reported seeing a coverless Hulk #181 asking $400 (better check for the MVS as the Rodie was trying to sell it). Saw House of Secrets #92 raw asking $2,200. Part of my table with new selection of 7-11 Marvel plastic cups circa 1976 at far right:

This is about 1/2 of the large hall during dealer set up Friday. Brighter lighting than PNE Forum con: I believe Jason was the main announcer doing interviews with Upper Deck Sportscards rep and controlling line up for hockey /sports guests.
