  1. bump, as the Kelowna Expo is 2 weeks away so I am bagging and boarding some decent vintage back issues:
  2. My 2nd fave LoSH issue ever: Revenge against the cosmic-Moby D ick! Heroes don't take revenge?
  3. Any other LCS offering a 'free' FF rectangular pin incentive that has Romita Sr's front cover from Marvel Treasury Edition #2 (FF) with purchase of relaunched FF #1? Else pay $1.25 US for pin itself.
  4. My LCS said I could grab as many copies of FF #1 reboot as I wanted since they ordered lots of the variant covers and pre-orders not that strong. Unlike the reorder that came through on Teen Titans #20 which basically were max 2 per customer. That is the issue that introduced a 2,000 year old Teen Titan.
  5. Scary gathering of geeks that do not use chopsticks at a Chinese Denny's in Calgary.
  6. EC 'craft' OA examples would include Ghastly Graham Ingles cross-hatching on most of his horror art. Feldstein's railway or subway layouts from EC Impact #1 later 'borrowed' by Frank Miller on DD origin retold issue. Any Will Eisner Spirit section for trendsetting splash page layout especially on title page blending in the word "Spirit."
  7. By 'craft,' I think it is being defined as technical drawing and inking skills of say EC illustrators (e.g. cross-hatching, above average layouts: Spirit) vs nostalgia OA from period when we grew up say 1970s up depending on one's age bracket.
  8. bump for Bill Everett GA Sub-mariner #1. Mighty fine reading:
  9. Since FF #4 is starting to heat up, time to post my GA Sub-mariner #1 that contains 2 ads for Capt America Comics #2:
  10. Absolutely brilliant. One can have a coffee, sell/trade some funny books, bag and board all the while doing my laundry. Most efficient use of a Sunday. Congrats.
  11. Get a partner and set up your own comic-centric local show out of a community center or church hall.
  12. There are long boxes full of first print X-force #1's. I see bagged copies locally marked up to an aggressive $5 or unbagged, opened copies for $1 without the card.
  13. I am actively looking for a coverless GA Sub-mariner Comics #1 on my want list. Let me know if 1 is available please.
  14. Seems to be spotty distribution in the LAX to Glendale, CA region, as most Wal-marts or supercenters either moved or closed.
  15. Just join a meet and greet with Overstreet, get your group photo published in Overstreet Pr Guide, then have your pic in back of Overstreet as an advisor like greggy.
  16. I will be selling at an end cap as 'Comic Adventures' booths A-1 which is immediately across from Kelowna comic-con Expo's center entry gate. If one turns left, they will be walking down the aisle of artist alley or if they turn towards the left wall, that is where the media and sci-fi guests will be signing. Admission for the Sat. is $20 or reduced to $15 for Sunday. Hours open to the public are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
  17. Just saw Shin Godzilla on dvd. Should have stayed on Japanese language mode with English subtitles, as the English voices were wooden like the weak live actors. Spcl fx on the 4 or 5 mutations of Gojira better than I expected once you got over laughing at the low budget first incarnation of turtle Gojira.
  18. There is also much to enjoy around the city of San Diego like the pier, tour of the sailship or Battleship, Little Italy, over 17 museums at Balboa Park and Zoo, Coronado Island, Gaslamp district restaurants and pubs plus temperate weather. A few more SDCC pics from Diamond's Scoop: Click to enlarge 2018 SDCC pics
  19. Is this Meet Up event being held at a community center room in Portland, OR? Sounds like a great idea but I recommend you add an hour to stretch out to a 3 hr meet and greet. Let us know if you decide to do this bi-monthly or whatever schedule please.
  20. How much is the asking price for Struzan's Superman pin-up painting that seems to be based on a Steranko layout from anniversary issue of Superman #400?
  21. My group of 4 visible minority Asians in 1 car attempted to cross the border for Seattle's Emerald City comic-con. We were detained on USA side of border for 3 hours while they went through the trunk and all our suspicious knapsacks. We were turned back at USA border, as we did not have official Border Brokerage documents to bring over $2,500 US worth of comics into the USA. USA border patrol recommended we drive back to Canada side, line up for Canadian Border Brokerage and pay the document fee, then line up again to attempt to cross into WA, USA. I was mistaken in that I thought each of us could bring up to $10,000 US of value into USA, as the USA Border Patrol usually asks "Are you carrying over $10,000?" that must be declared.
  22. Saw the advance preview yesterday in a full theater. Better than part 5. Surprised they reshot the jumping off the plane stunt about 40 times. Tremendous helicopter stunts plus 2 femme fatales. Better background sound effects than I expected. Soundtrack not as good as Atomic Blonde. Recommended 8.5 out of 10.
  23. Let me know if you are interested in an untrimmed SA cover sheet from Marvel Tales #1 with untrimmed back cover. Cover that shows JIM 83 Thor, AF 15, ToS 39, TTA #35(?), Hulk #1, Sgt Fury #1 reprints.
