  1. This may be the 2nd pre-Code comic I ever read. Violent slapping, bullets and blood:
  2. I actually saw higher asking prices on hot books like Batman: Damned #1 at the small Bellingham comicon about 14 days ago. Taking into consideration the exchange rate, it is sometimes better to buy in Canada. Pics of the Show with a fancy fish-eye lens posted Van Comic Show Oct, 2018
  3. I love early Mike Mignola art from his "Comic Reader" art style period.
  4. Avengers #4 now on hold for a collector, not a dealer.
  5. Everyone loves $1 and $2 bins. Have to admit that it sure helps to have Voldemort Grading at the Show. Seems to bring in some higher end collectors dropping off their vintage comics for pressing and/or slabbing, and then doing some comic shopping. An All-Star Comics #8 was submitted.
  6. @Black_Adam Very nice to meet you and your buddy. Thanks so much for the purchases. I love those Kirby Thor (Galactus origin related) issues too. Had another vendor look closely at my Avengers #4 twice. He said he had to sell his FF #49 and #50 first to come up with the loot. He was able to sell the pair to another wheeler dealer by the end of the show but the vendors all started packing up slowly by 4:30 p.m., as some were worried about the rain on our long boxes as we shuffled them into our mini-vans or SUVs. @Fan Boy . Nice to see your face light up viewing that unique Quebec published English Archie mag.
  7. I would estimate that attendance was lower than the previous Father's Day Van Comic Show. Some vendors said their retail sales were lower this time compared to June, 2018 but it may have been because they were also vending 2 weeks ago at Fan Expo Vancouver? Seemed like most SA, BA and CA sellers did great. My 1st sale during dealer set up was FF #48 fn+ , FF #49 vgfn, #30 vf but coupon clipped so a reader, # 58 Inhumans fn-. Sold Flash #139 Prof. Zoom vg+ due to sub-crease, FF Annual #6 fn- baby Franklin Richards, Strange Adventures #11, etc. so my 2nd best $$ Show in Vancouver ever.
  8. bump. I will be bringing FF #48 fn+, #49 vg/fn and #50 fn range, raw.
  9. Omac #1 for $40 US. I did not know that comic was 'hot.' When is the Omac movie or cartoon series?
  10. OK got a room with 2 queen beds. First time to Yorba Linda even though I did visit Orange County and Disneyland 20 years ago.
  11. Coverless keys are good for getting signed by I think Stan Lee recently stopped signing. Good for taking centerfold out if you find an Avengers #1 missing centerfold. fyi, I just bought a coverless Daredevil #2 as a $5 reader but it was missing centerfold. Think coverless Daredevil #1 is about $100 for comparison.
  12. BLI con was better this time for buying than last year due to the gentleman that brought out ex-store stock from 17 years ago that was warehoused. Bit surprised that there were so many round tables set up in the side room next to the cafe for folks to eat and chat. Half of that space could have been used for wall table vendors.
  13. Happy birthday Fan Boy. Time for us to start bagging and boarding for next week's Van Comic Show:
  14. 5. FF illogical reboot 4. Catwoman Halle Berry 3. Spirit 2. most Transformers movies 1. Jonah Hex
  15. After the 16 hour drive from Edm to Vancouver, thehumantorch would 'enjoy' the bonus of face-time with his family member. 2 side by side FEV booths for Clobberin' Time would only be about $2k for attendance that is 25,000 on a good weekend. We would love to have attendance hit 35k+ like Edm Expo in your lifetime.
  16. In terms of square footage, it looks like FEV could fit in the Big 4 Building plus 2 medium size size rooms for artist or media guest panels. Corporate sponsors like London Drugs get a good size display. Comic vendors along 1.5 lanes at FEV. Remember the 8' x 8' booth is 36% smaller than AB Expo's 'standard' 10' x 10' booth. The booth cost per square foot at FEV is MORE expensive than at Calgary Expo not even counting the vast difference in attendance at the gate, as Calgary Expo and Edm Expo each crush FEV.
  17. With your varied vintage to modern inventory, realistically you could do $5k sales each on the Friday and Sat, but your sales on Sunday may flatline to $500. Even Harley displayed 19 longs of 67c comics. Race to the bottom $.
  18. Clobberin' Time is welcome to roll the dice at the FEV show. We have an 8' x 8' non-wall booth ready for your team for $970 plus $33/day parking unless booth rates go up for March, 2019 plus your gas, time away from family or day job, plus hotel, plus meals, wear and tear on your van or SUV. Good news is you don't have to worry about being downwind of greggy, as he has retired from FEV.
  19. At least FEV got the tower of t-shirts vendor back this time after they had abandoned Vancouver for at least 1 or 2 Expos. Taxes (property, fuel, transit levy, anti-pollution, maintenance fees, etc.) LEAPING up every year. So happy price of regular gas dropped down to as low as $1.619/litre on Sunday. Now I can afford a Costco hotdog. We hope to reach Edm Expo's attendance in 6 more years.
  20. I might consign 10 aggressively priced comics there but not planning to attend Calgary expo, as not retired from day job yet. So 2 collectors from Vancouver post about FEV out of the 5 forumites that attended, as greggy and Flatliner1313 are out?
  21. So the bottom line is you were able to buy the Jim Lee original pencils to this cover or the blue-line inked by Scott Williams? There are quite a few competent inkers inking blue lines of Jim Lee's scanned OA pencils. Example:
