Are higher grade common books really worth picking up?   I travel around many parts of Canada and always hit the bins of whatever shops are close by and I've always been able to find some mixed in with the runs.  I still never bother to grab them.  Maybe I should?  And I'm still trying to figure what my higher grade Blip 1 CPV would fetch should I decide to sell.

What grade do you think is your Blip 1 CPV?

    Agreed.

Still the folks that collect  1970's Marvel  Price Variants for example are only a small faction of the hobby and that's been a "thing" for 4 decades.  It will be curious to see...

    Very true !

Speaking of Canadian Price Variants, ComicLink has some incredible keys in the present auction (May).  I'm looking at a few myself to bid on.

There is not much nostalgia up here for CPVs either since they are still relatively common in Canada. I am selling CPVs steadily, and all but a couple have been to US collectors. We tend to look at them from a take the money and run perspective.

It's been my experience over the last number of years that Key CPV's in higher grades are VERY sought out by a strong and growing number of collectors in both Canada and the USA. The problem is finding these keys in higher grades at reasonable prices.  Most CPV books I see across the country are not keys in really high grades. Many collectors are still not aware of them, hence interest will grow with awareness.

I've managed to secure these three books.  I'm completely elated, three stunning Frank Miller Daredevil books, in top grade, and the fact that they're CPV's is icing on the cake!

They're coming to a very appreciative owner (thumbsu      #notcanada :shy:

Thanks , they have really added a lot of images since I last went on their site - my list of missing images is now down to 23  and it looks like I can help them out with some  of their missing images - assuming they are up to standard - I have 43 they don't have up but some won't be good enough or are watermarked. - maybe 20-30 good enough to use   - so the list now looks like this:

Angel Love 1-8 (all issues - Is this just so low demand no-one is bothering with it or as it was an unusual title for DC was the US newsstand run too low to justify a CNS?)

    Captain atom 16

Heroes Against Hunger (Marvels' Heroes For Hope CNS is common - why is this one so hard to find?)

New Talent Showcase 7-13? (the title had a partial US Newsstand run - same questions as with Angel Love as none found to date as CNS)

    Phantom Stranger 2

    Son Of Ambush Bug 3

    Teen titans Spotlight 10,19

Weird, The 4 (the US newsstands for this run become progressively hard to find  - it looks like sales declined very quickly on this mini series)

    Zatanna Special 1

Reach out to Ben, he's looking for the missing images from Canadian Price Variant collectors and many have already helped out willingly. Yes, the guide is constantly expanding with books, images, articles, etc...

In my attempt to assemble images of all DC CNS I'm just short of 99% complete now - I just checked when I created the folders and coincidentally it was 4 years ago yesterday that I started searching for these , happy to post a few images of issues people want to check up on of course , although MCS and GCD have a lot of issues up now there are still hundreds of gaps in what you can find permanently online

this is the list of the last Issues I have yet to see

Angel Love 1-8 (all issues - Is this just so low demand no-one is bothering with it or as it was an unusual title for DC was the US newsstand run too low to justify a CNS?)

    Captain atom 16

Heroes Against Hunger (Marvels' Heroes For Hope CNS is common - why is this one so hard to find?)

New Talent Showcase 7-13? (the title had a partial US Newsstand run - same questions as with Angel Love as none found to date as CNS)

    Night Force 13

    Phantom Stranger 2

    Sgt. Rock 413

Son Of Ambush Bug 1,2,3,5 (low demand it seems keeps this one obscure)

    Teen titans Spotlight 10,19,21

    Warlord 124

Weird, The 4 (the US newsstands for this one become progressively hard to find  - it looks like sales declined very quickly on this mini series)

    Who's Who Update 1987 5

    Zatanna Special 1

I would love to see pictures if anyone has any of the above

Hi David, the images for a few of the books on your list can be found on www.cpvpriceguide.com

so In my attempt to confirm all of the DC CNS issues by getting cover images I am now down to double figures for missing ones - I have found cover pictures for 2021 issues with 99 more to go by my reckoning - but there is still 1 one shot and two series that have proven to be completely elusive - has anyone ever seen a CNS issue out of the following?  - I'd be grateful to know it's not a wild goose chase on these titles.

    Heroes Against Hunger

    Angel Love 1 to 8

New Talent Showcase 7 to 13 (I don't think the brief newsstand run extended beyond issue 13 but it might)

You should reach out to Ben at www.rarecomics.wordpress.com , he's putting together images for all the Marvel and DC Canadian Price Variants. You guys could share images and help one another. What are you planning on doing with the images?

It’s a tough book I’m in an area that was a hub in Ontario , Canada for comics . There are lots of 75 cent filler books but the big keys are very htf now . This was a huge one for my Canadian run. I have a felling based on information out there in Type 1A variants that this may be the biggest of the 1980s along with Batman 357 95 cent first Jason Todd

Subby1938: Definitely agree that key books are hard to find, particularly in high grades.

    *(Batman 357 is a 75c Price Variant)
