  1. CGC has been notified. These were literally little old ladies but they are working on figuring it out. The collection has been viewed more than once and over a fairly long period of time so it may not be easy to figure out.
  2. I don't think it's a bad result. It's at the lower end of the 7.0 price range but it does have a few things that might reduce the size of the bidding pool including COW pages and a miswrap. I think it's an decent to a strong result.
  3. Gang, I was partly involved with the acquisition of a collection recently. After the books were received we noticed that the Amazing Spider-man #1 was a 1966 GRR reprint and not the original one from 1963 of which pictures that were originally provided. It looks like someone who viewed the collection at some point switched out the ASM #1 for the GRR copy with the owners not being the wiser. I genuinely believe that the owners were not aware of what had happened and were not trying to mislead. They are older and are now genuinely concerned about it. Little old ladies were literally duped. The books come from Northern California area of San Francisco / San Jose / Oakland but literally could be anywhere now. If you see this book anywhere, it has some distinctive markings and your help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  4. There are actual reputable sellers doing business on Instagram. Ive never been burned on Instagram and have made many transactions. Burned once here and ive only bought a few books from the boards. There are crappy sellers both on Instagram and on here who dont know how to be a good seller. Has nothing to do with 'lazy millenials' and is a poor excuse to not give the medium a shot. At the risk of being labeled a lazy baby boomer, I finally googled what "Instagram" was/is. Now I know. Sort of. It's like Facetwit or Booker So..., same as Tinder? Pretty much. Tinder for hairy, sweaty nerds who never want to have sex and read comics instead.
  5. Incredible Hulk #181 CGC 9.0 OWW - gorgeous copy. I submitted this copy thinking it was going to grade a CGC 9.2. Scan of book pre-certification posted below Asking $5500
  6. Paypal had a problem a few months ago where they didn't issue emails for transactions. They said it was a glitch.
  7. Actually, it looks like an indentation from the printing process. Paper would 'stop and go' through the presses at great speeds and this could create indentations on the paper. There are various defects on Silver Age books that are very common (and allowed) in higher grades. This may or may not be one of those flaws (hard to tell without the book in hand) but it does look like it.
  8. Vincent, those recordings were missing a year ago when I checked. When did you guys do the migration?
  9. Yes. Newton rings have nothing to do with the book inside the slab and everything to do with the slab itself.
  10. If there is slightly more room between the outer clam shells than the old cases (resulting in slightly less pressure on the inner well and book) this might be the problem. Another thought is if there is more space around the book than there used to be (meaning the welds are further apart) and therefore less pressure on the book. 3rd thought is if the material that the inner well is now made of is not as strong as the older Barex then it may not apply the same tension on the book that the Barex did.
  11. Those are the usual, old - school 'modern' wells that CGC has always used. Although it looks like several books are moving in the wells. I had one that I delivered to someone and realized that the book was sitting on the bottom of the inner well. Thankfully there wasn't any damage but this is something CGC should look into.
  12. @Brittany M. Here is concrete proof of fraud. I'm sure there are many other concrete examples.
  13. GPA would have a record of any serial numbers that have transacted on major sites.
  14. I disagree. Legal representation would pose a far greater threat than a bunch of comic nerds messaging through eBay. All they will do is go underground and pop up again in some other form. With a legal paper trail, recourse gets easier.
  15. Just saw this post on Rick's New Force Comics FB page: Quick update since I seem to have some cell service. Store complex sustained a lot of damage. We are hopeful to have some sort of ability to serve our customers by early November (doubtful sooner but stay tuned ) Right now I have limited to no cell so if I don’t respond it’s cuz I can’t. Stay tuned will update as able.
  16. I got a text from Rick this morning asking me to share this with everyone he knows: This is a post from his Facebook page that I copied as per his request: It was posted at 3:48 AM this morning (EST) Another quick update. First cell service I’ve had in days and only at 230am..ugh We are working on moving forward. I Take so much for granted. But when you have to sleep in a storm ridden, powerless house with temperature and humidity making it feel like 95 degrees at night, it’s a truly humbling experience. Heck, go 6 days without a shower after working 16-20 hours in this heat trying to save property and business. It’s truly unbelievable. But I’m so thankful to all the family and friends that have reached out. Appreciated more than you can know. We will be fine long term, but the “now” is challenging at best. If I don’t respond to folks it’s cuz I have no ability too until Verizon gets there towers back up. Nails in tires, gas shortages , this ridiculous /relenting oct heat and humidity...I wouldn’t wish this situation on anyone. God bless!
  17. He told me that he had a lot of messages but limited capability to reply the last time we messaged. I'm sure he'll touch base when he can.
  18. When he was able to, he texted back. I'd assume that he either currently has no cell signal or battery power as I haven't heard back from him today.
