  1. You don't know how big money works. Paypal lost a large amount of my money Even after they admitted it was their mistake they still took a week to get it back into my account. That was after it had been missing for nearly two weeks. Big money profits from not giving you your money and they hope and bank on the fact that those who ahve lost will tire of chasing it and just cut their losses. Welcome to customer service in the internet age.
  2. It happened some time during 1967-68 when Marvel switched publishers. There is some great info in the link MustEatBrains provided. Once you look at a few books side by side, it's easy to tell the differences between the books that were printed the old way vs the new way in 1968.
  3. There was a guy from the Atlanta area doing something similar a few years ago. The never ending conflict of "too good to be true" vs. "should I take the shot"
  4. There is less of a major dealer presence each year (and the small guys are all but stamped out) but there are still a lot of comics in San Diego. But the rest of the room outside of the Gold and Silver pavilions is not very comic related. The real problem that I think most dealers have with San Diego is twofold. Prices are high. When you incorporate flights, expensive hotels and expensive booths (not to mention just the cost and effort of getting your product into the show) it can be very off-putting. You're talking a ballpark minimum of $5000 in expenses for a one booth space with two people in a booth and a hotel room for 5 days. Double your booth space and you are looking for $7500-10,000 (more employees, etc) You need to bring lots of product to make that trip profitable. Now many dealers still have a terrific San Diego every year but they are generally the dealers who have lots of high end inventory and work hard at maintaining a solid presence. One of the bigger problems IMO is that the show has become so busy and tickets sell out so quickly that most customers that used to want to make the show can't get in. Thinking about sharing tickets? If you get caught, SD has in the past threatened to lock you out of the show. This is the bigger problem IMO. Comics always sell but if your customers are not getting into the door it's a wasted effort. For these reasons I've heard many dealers have pulled back from doing the show or downsized their booth areas. But if you can make the show, there are still lots of comics there and the show is an experience unlike any other I've been to. It's just a pricey one.
  5. I'm going to be listing a Walking Dead #1 CGC 9.8 and an Amazing Spider-man #149 CGC 9.8 (Gwen Stacey Clone saga) in the next 24 hours. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you are interested.
  6. Basketball Four Roses Pub is booked (same complex as last time, different venue) I have yet to learn a song. Mat''s already learned all of his. Apparently it's full on. Maybe we can play basketball after the show?
  7. And Triumph, Rush, April Wine and The Kings!
  8. I was born into a country without being asked if I had a preference. For some people that is a very unfortunate thing. Thankfully, i was born into a country where they strive to make education cheaper every year, health care is free for all and racism has been all but stamped out. I live in a country where people freely apologize when they make a mistake and I'm OK with being the butt of the world's jokes for it. I live in a country that has more natural resources than any other country in the world and yet a fraction of the population. I live in a country where the great out doors may actually be the greatest outdoors in the world, ,bar none. Mountains, beaches, forests, plains. Big cities or small towns, we have it all for you to choose from. I live in a country where all 4 seasons can be enjoyed. It's never boring. I live in a country that is sometimes known as the world's peace keepers. I would have it no other way. I live in Canada and I would have it no other way. When someone who doesn't live in Canada tells me that they live in the best country in the world I just think about how special this country is and wish everyone else experienced it. Oh, and sorry.
  9. I'm not sure if it was a black label or a white label copy. Ask would vary based on which version it is.
  10. Sorry guys, I got caught on a phone call. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to close the selling thread. I thought I had scans of this book but I don't have any saved on my computer and I'm not with the book so I'll have to reopen once I have scans. Apologies.
  11. Who wins: Time stamp seals the deal as to who wins regardless of the form of communication (including PM, in the thread, text or phone conversation). A negotiation is not a deal until both sides have agreed on terms. If there is an unconditional posted (or communicated) it will trump all negotiations unless we have already both agreed to terms before the was posted. In that case, the will have been in vain. Except that it will give you street cred and look cool to passers by. No House Of Shame or Probationary members or any others of ill repute. Returns: For Raw books I am considered a very good grader among my peers ( Here is a link to my kudos thread ) but since even CGC is inconsistent I will not guarantee a CGC grade. I will guarantee to be within one grade increment in either direction - so if I am calling the book a 9.4 it could go 9.2 or 9.6. If it falls outside of those parameters (and it does happen that they go in both directions), I will offer a refund. But I don't expect anyone to complain if I undergraded it. I will accept returns if item is otherwise not as described. Consider all books pressed. Shipping: Prices include shipping within North America for CGC graded books. Payment: Paypal, bank wire, check or MO.
  12. From what they told me, it sounds like people who have a PO Box attached as their main address is causing the problem. So I'm guessing if you don't use a PO Box you won't have the issue. What has changed I have no idea. I haven't made any changes to my Paypal account in nearly two years.
  13. Has it? Then why did an Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 9.4 sell for below exactions a year ago? New flash: Amazing Fantasy prices have been escalating for 56 years now.
  14. Actually, GAtor said it. I can't remember who else did. Are you trying to say that because you stated an already known market pattern has happened that this somehow adds weight to your points? Everybody knows when higher grade copies sell strong that lower grade copies trickle upwards. Yeah, you said it. I was one of the first that said that the trickle down would happen and prices would adjust if the market accepted those CC record prices as the new norm. But your personal insult about me being "overly mesmerized by their own preconceptions and opinions" is not accurate. I know my stuff well and I'm putting my highly educated and respected opinion out there and I've been making the same salient points from the beginning. Where I get my back up is where you pump the market with half truths, grey statements and shifting arguments (like misquoting people). It's makes you look like the value of your AF #15 is worth more than your integrity. That's another Jaydogrules fabrication. just so you know, October and I go back over a decade both on here and in person. He didn't disagree with me, actually. He said MAYBE the book could go to a 5.5 (which means he agrees that it could upgrade) AND I added above that it is possible that on this particular copy that a bidder thought it was upgradeable but also that someone was just shelling out huge dough because it looked spectacular (see my @peewee22 comment above). It's only absurd to you because it conflicts with your grand scheme of pumping the markets. My opinion is that the books selling for record numbers either looked spectacular for the grade and / or had a shot at upgrade. I don't know what is absurd about that. The markets have been that way since day one. People have always paid stronger prices for exceptional copies. The only thing that has changed is how much more they are willing to pay and what makes them exceptional. Another Jaydogrules fabrication. I have from the beginning admitted that the 5.0 copy may not be upgradeable. My larger point is not based on that one copy, although October himself (also a solid graded) said he could "MAYBE see 5.5" But the upgrade game is not a science. You don't always know what grade you are going to get. You also don't know what the market is going to be when it comes time to sell. It's anonymous people bidding against other anonsymous people. so if there was someone who wanted that book for their personal collection and they were bidding against someone who thought the book had potential that would explain the price point. That's more realistic to me than just two people wanting to pay double market value for a CGC 5.0 copy, which is entirely possibly but unlikely to me.
  15. Bob, I'm not heated. I just hate lies and carnival barkers.
  16. I never said 'massively' upgradeable. I simply said they looked upgradeable. Since yo won't find the word massively (or any synonym) in the context of this discussion used by me I'll wait for your apology. This is you again moving goal posts, now by misquoting people to try to make your subtly shifted point more effective and by doing so you undermine your own position because it proves that you openly lie to argue a point. Also, most people who know the market well have chimed in on the topic (reasonable, long time board members who are not looking to pump their stocks) and they agree with me and disagree with you that the new surge happened after the CC auctions a few months ago. I'll remind you that a year ago an AF #15 CGC 9.4 sold for $450,000 on Heritage. That $450,000 price was what Metro was offering to buy copies for - so don't paint it like the price was a surprise. Keep talking. Everyone is watching and listening closely.
  17. I know that you're friends with Gary who brought the book to market. I figured you would have seen it. I would believe that if it was just the 5.0 that set a record, like when @peewee22 bought his white covered FF #1 a few years ago at double market price. But the 9.0 was definitely upgradeable as I was going to buy it for that reason. And the 4.5 looked upgradeable to me as well. And so IMO it was a combination of several upgradeable copies and a frenzy that I believe set those record prices.
  18. You do realize that this is Pedigree and not Comiclink or Heritage you're talking about.
  19. Yup. It does. Well it did until recently for me. I've never waited more than 3-4 days and lately it was down to next day most of the time. The reason I asked the question is because I have had trouble in the last few weeks and apparently Paypal has said that they have had other clients have difficulty with transfers to bank accounts as well. I made transfers June 17 and Jun 20 and they have not arrived yet. I had to wait minimum 5 days before initiating a trace. I initiated a trace on June 26 and they still don't have an answer as to where the funds are. Only that they are not in my Paypal account and they have apparently found a glitch causing it. So here I sit with my funds in limbo. Just wanted to know if anyone else experienced this.
