nothing I want to point out that there wasn't one of those stupid stickers on the back of this book. Anyone else notice an absence of stickers? -

I'll check once it's in hand. -
I mainly collect lower grade comics. If I get a comic that's higher grade, it just looks too out of place.

CGC Shipping Kits! For those who need instructions!

I remember when my sister-in-law was really into Tetris. My brother came home from work one day and he asked what was for dinner. She glanced up from the game and said she'd get started in a little while. He casually walked out to the garage, grabbed his hammer, walked back inside, and proceeded to smash the game to bits. My brother became my new hero. :) -

<--- guilty as charged I will say in my defense, however, that removing what tape I use is never a problem. I'll use a few small pieces of Scotch to secure the bubble-wrap. Other than that, I use plain ordinary masking tape to make the brick - and ALWAYS with both ends (on every piece) folded over for easy removal. The recipient never has to use a knife - well, maybe to open those damn priority boxes (I"ll use packing tape to secure the ends - that seal that they use is close to useless). I know exactly what you're talking about though, having had to open a few myself (swearing under my breath the whole time. The ideal, which I'm trying to achieve, is to keep the same level of protection, but make it easy-open. -
I guess my question is more in the vein of why are their tiers in the first place. If I try real hard, I can kinda sorta agree with cutoffs based on FMV, but, no matter how hard I squint, I can't figure out why there are cutoffs based on dates. Honestly, why the separation between Value and Modern? And I can't get behind any reasons about types of paper.

a couple of days later... . If I were a gambling man I would definitely bet that something shady is going here.
-
Yes, the 'what' is very clear. The 'why', however, eludes me. Fantastic Four #153 (12/74) is a Value tier. Fantastic Four #154 (1/75) is a Modern tier.

I just did a manual count on Ebay (which is about as far from an accurate study as you can get). Current listings of Wolverine Limited Series #1 CGC 9.8 (universal) Direct = 23 Newsstand = 1 Sold listings of Wolverine Limited Series #1 CGC 9.8 (universal) Direct = 42 Newsstand = 6 * Disclaimer 1 - I only counted universal. There's a bunch of SS. * Disclaimer 2 - I only counted those listings in the Bronze Age category. There could be more in wrong categories.

That's what I was thinking, but wasn't sure. If I were in the market for a 9.8 Wolvy, I don't think Direct/Newstand would make a diff to me.

Anyone ever go down a grade after a resubmit?
Gaard replied to Gruson's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
I've had numerous books rejected from a 9.8 prescreen that eventually passed (after including them in subsequent 9.8 perscreens ). And they weren't pressed either. -
I don't understand... How can the seller relist the book, while also stating that she got it back w/o a cover? (not to mention the fact that she stated she had a buyer all lined up, but relisted it instead)

Overstreet guide - grades not listed?
Gaard replied to GlennSimpson's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
I am intrigued. I have a few thousand comics, so going thru and pricing all of them would be a daunting task. There are not too many, however, worth more than a few hundred. Could you define 'expensive books'? -
If I'm understanding you correctly... I'm right there with you. I don't understand the different TATs. I would think a 50 year old issue of FF and a 1 year old Spiderman would take the same amount of time to grade. As far as the different costs, I think it has something to do with insurance (although I don't fully understand it), but why should a FF 153 cost more to grade than a FF 154?
-
For me, no insurance = too much risk. Unless it's a cheap book, UPS and FedEx are out of the question.
