  1. Do your listings say that you accept returns? If so, this guy jumped the gun.
  2. Let me see if I get this ... Upper management knows that even though a package is scanned as 'delivered', it doesn't necessarily mean that it has been delivered? This isn't something the public is supposed to know? ...all these threads concerning a 'lost' packages has yielded, to my memory, ZERO times of the person being informed of this. - not dissing you, just trying to figure out how the USPS system works.
  3. So if the package is scanned as delivered, it counts as actually being delivered. And the supervisor (I don't know what they're called in the USPS) knows that even though it's been scanned, it doesn't really mean it's been delivered? I wonder if there is some kind of check of the little mail truck at the end of the day making sure it's empty. Or if the mailman has to sign (or initial) any kind of document at the end of the day. Accountability ... someone has to be accountable.
  4. re: carriers scanning packages as delivered before they actually are Is this something that is taught to new carriers? IOW - is this something that is not only acceptable, but an actual practiced procedure used by the USPS (and others)? One last question ... why do carriers do this?Does it have some kind of affect on their pay? ...or length of workday?
  5. I'm far from a scientist (actually, probably the farthest one can get), but didn't they change material in the past? Something about losing their Barex manufacturer. I have absolutely no idea if that makes a difference.
  6. But remember, we're just lowly comic book collectors. "Gimmee yer money and quitcher person_without_enough_empathyen."
  7. I feel like the word "or" should be in a choice.
  8. 1st appearance = 1st appearance. Regardless if it's on the cover or in the story. Regardless if there's dialogue or not. Regardless if it's one panel or multiple pages.
  9. I'm wondering why so many slabs that need a reholder due to NRs are passed thru quality control. I wonder if QC is even supposed to be looking for bad NRs. Also ... let's say a slab is caught by QC for having too many NRs and has to be reslabbed. They would have to open the slab, right? So that means they would have to trash that plastic? Now multiply that cost by X. Mucho dinero!
  10. response ... Mike, That is correct. Ultimately it is up to the graders final decision. Regards,
  11. somewhat off-topic, but kinda related... message sent to Customer Service... After perusing the census at length, I've concluded that the census differentiates between the US & UK versions on SOME comics but not all. Can you tell me if that is correct? Example: X-men #101 - the census differentiates between the two, but Rawhide Kid #38 - it doesn't. Thanks, Mike
  12. I know I must be missing part of the equation, but why would you not bid if your suspicions are true?
  13. Newton Ring Question I haven't tried to reholder books with newton rings, but I have wanted to. A while back I got back two expensive (for me) books with very bad puddling. I contacted Christian, and after sending him some pics, he said that they would reholder them for free. They came back with the EXACT same puddling. Not similar, mind you, they were the same. They transferred the books right from my box to theirs. I remember removing them from the CGC box and thought, "Shoot, they have puddling again. And they're the same size...in the same spot of the book. Come to think of it...". After I got out the pics of the books I had sent to Christian, and my suspicions confirmed, I figured that they just wanted to shut me up. So even though I've gotten books back with excessive amounts of rings (where the WHOLE cover is covered), I haven't even tried to contact them again.
  14. Because this is caused by the two plastics coming in contact with one another, does that mean that the other guys don't use an inner well/sleeve? Can someone who knows explain how one company's product has a large amount of newton rings, while another company's doesn't?
  15. The silence by CGC is the killer. A simple statement would be soooo beneficial. Just something simple... "We're working on it." or "We hear you." or "We know it's an issue." Something real simple like that can go a long way.
  16. Does anyone know if the NRs are there immediately upon slabbing, or if they develop shortly afterwards? If the former,, that would mean that CGC is knowingly shipping these out?
  17. If I'm home when the auction ends, I do the manual last second thing. If I'm at work (or someplace else), I use a sniping program. My sniping program is installed on my laptop. I've more than once come home to find my laptop hibernating (sucky battery life) & it never placed a bid.
  18. Agreed. It appears this whole thread is about opinions and people trying to pass off their opinion as fact.
  19. I have no idea if the solution would be very costly or not, but the fact that some have them while others don't seems to point to a solution that's easy to correct. Note: 'easy' does not equate 'cheap'.
  20. When I was a kid (many moons ago), I collected wheat pennies. Believe it or not, they weren't that uncommon to find in circulation. Whenever I found one, I put it in my dresser drawer.
  21. Are people really sending these back? I messaged CGC (via 'contact' link) and asked. They asked for pics. I supplied pics. They said to send them back and they would reholder them for free. Just ask.
