  1. When I was a kid, I traded a dozen or so old X-men for a set of '75 baseball cards. We both walked away happy.
  2. Graded a few days ago - haven't even received the package yet. FF53 graded universal 8.0 with no notes.
  3. I realize CGC isn't obligated to supply notes, but it seems kind of odd that an 8.0 doesn't have any. Surely this isn't typical.
  4. I waited too long for those FF 40's (45 &46). Now, they are at unacceptable prices. I think I must be in the miniscule minority who have absolutely no desire for a Hulk 181. I was never a big fan of Wolverine.
  5. Is it typical to not receive any email alerts for my saved searches for a few days? I have always received about 20 emails (usually around 5:00 am EST), but haven't received any for close to a week now.
  6. Can't remember the last time I took a bath ... always showers. Sorry about your books. Glad it wasn't worse.
  7. It'd be nice if they listed a 'date sold' for their books.
  8. Can you explain how you do this (figure out what each grader gives it)? Do you have to call them?
  9. I'd be too nervous leaving packages out for the mailman to pick up. I have 'questionable' neighbors.
  10. I'm going on vacation tomorrow. Should I take all my listings down? ...Add a week to my handling time? ...What?
  11. +1 Just because you like one more than the other, doesn't mean you have to dislike the other one.
  12. When I was at the post office on Monday, I asked if it was ok to ship to Sarasota. She looked it up on her computer and said there weren't any problems. FYI - Shipped/Safe, from what I understand, means your order has either shipped (if you want it shipped back to you) or put in their safe (if you are going to pick it up).
  13. Is it standard to get verified immediately when using the online form? I just sent a 2 book value submission a couple of days ago and it just today was entered into the system ... as verified. The previous value submissions all took about 2 months to get verified, but this was the first time I used the online form.
  14. Would it be prudent to wait a few days to send books down there?
  15. Some listings have text (smaller & not as bold) under the listing title. Is this option available after gaining certain status? examples
  16. Not exactly sure what you mean by 'serious', but I'm going to assume you just mean someone who loves the hobby. There are certain things I've read/done/bought over the years that I would consider an important part of having comics in my life. (probably too many to remember) First of all, I'm glad I got to know the owner (and employees) of the LCS I frequented as I was growing up. He was actually the first adult friend I had when I was a kid (back in the early70's). Back then you got a lot of eye rolls when people found out you collected comics. It was nice to be around other 'nerds' and feel comfortable. I'm also very happy whenever I see threads here (or on other boards) concerning the best written comic stories. I don't care who you are, you can't know of every book out there - especially when the majority of your life was before there were computers. I think, and this is just my opinion, that the younger you are, the more emphasis you put on the art. Whereas, the older you get, the writing becomes more important. I've found/read so many great stories as a result of those kind of threads. I've also found it immensely informative to read the many books out there dealing with the history of comics. (All topics: publishers, artists, covers art, etc) I just finished rereading this. (I have this in the bathroom ) Even though CGC, et al. isn't essential, I'm glad that I know and understand about them. Without these forums, I'd be scratching my head whenever I saw a graded comic. One last thing (for now) - re: those Gerbers - why wasn't there ever a DC set put out. I'm not really a DC guy, but it'd be nice to know what's out there. Having the 2 sets that were published has definitely impacted my comic collecting. Mike ps - We've all heard it a thousand times, but the most essential part of this hobby is to collect what you like.
  17. That's exactly how I do it, and I charge $12.00 shipping in my listings. If it costs a little less, I refund the difference - if it costs a little more, I eat it. (It's usually within a couple of bucks either way.)
  18. Anybody have any experience with this? I realize it has no affect on the comic, but it's rather unsightly.
  19. I was able to afterwards. I think I went to "see details".
