  1. I think I must've screwed something up. Used to be, nearly every listing I looked at, I would hover my cursor over the picture and it would show a closeup of the product. I doesn't do that anymore. Did I screw something up, or did Ebay change something?
  2. I'm not the biggest Spider-man fan, but I am a fellow run collector. Congrats!
  3. If he hadn't informed the buyer that he was at a convention, none of this would have happened.
  4. Not all IT departments are made equal. Maybe it's time for an upgrade ... IOW, get smarter people. Afterall, this problem has been an issue for a very long time, now. And before this, there was that stupid little problem with subs falling off the page after 8 months ... which seemed to last forever. Before that, there was/is the issue with having to logon to the forums too frequently. Was that ever fixed? I'm sure there's more, I just can't think of them right now. My point being, CGC's IT seems to be less than stellar.
  5. For those that were told it'd be years to do the job, I'm going to go ahead and assume that the length of time was due to an estimated TAT based on the number of customers ahead of you? If the actual work took even close to that, I'm not sure restoring comics would be a career that I'd be interested in.
  6. I was one of those kids way back when) who took markers to those ugly spine bends to make my comics look better. Still have some of them. Do I care that they aren't worth as much as those that I didn't take a marker to? Nope. It's not always about money.
  7. My hope is that someday my bank account lets me think like this.
  8. I've seen this theory many times over the years and never fully understood it. I guess I could understand it more if specific examples were given of checks that are required of older books that are not required of newer books.
  9. Communication is key. To leave people hanging while you have their books (worth $1000s) is very bad.
  10. and don't forget the part that says after they pay you, you are never to speak of it again.
  11. I've never done an SS before. Don't you say who signed it somewhere on the submission form?
  12. Isn't changing out the inner sheath part of the process? That's what they've always said, anyways. Kind of makes you wonder why they would need to put in a note.
  13. This helps to solidify the theory that CGC wants to boost their bottom line at the expense of quality/care for our comics. Among the plethora of pizz-poor decisions that support this theory are the pizz-poor QC issues that users have had to endure for years and this recent pizz-poor ME policy. I guess we can now add pizz-poor wages for the people entrusted to handle our collectables.
  14. Let's say Mary is a QC tech. A ME comes back, that Mary originally inspected, due to heavy newton rings plastic shards. What is Mary's probable response... "Oh shoot! I can't believe I missed that!" or "Whatevs. When's break time?"
  15. I kind of hope there isn't a QC department. It'd be a real richard decision by CGC, but if there was, I wouldn't want people like that (noncaring, apathetic, etc.) anywhere near my comics.
  16. Two possibilities: 1) There is no QC. 2) There is QC, but it really sucks. According to @CGC Mike, he actually saw them inspecting every slab. I guess they really suck.
  17. Mike said that they looked at both the front and back for the hours he was watching them. Could they have been told, "Hey, this guy from the boards is coming to observe you. Do everything right. In other words, not the way you usually do things."?
