  1. It's been slightly over a year since CGC implemented this 'only FedEx' rule. You'd think that with all the horror stories and complaints, they'd reconsider. But this is CGC afterall, so I'm sure this 'only FedEx' rule was all about money. And when it comes to these guys, money trumps all things. Your comics? Who gives a ... ?
  2. I buy from thrift.books quite often Never had a problem. Of course, I only buy books from them that I want to read, I would never buy a book that I wanted in condition from a place called thrift.books.
  3. I love that issue. I'll also recommend the Dangerous Habits storyline in Hellblazer (also by Ennis). The tpb might be a little more than $5, but certainly can be had for less than $10.

    Quality Control

I'd suggest to check the videos, but...
  5. Seems a tad unscrupulous to still be charging for images.
  6. Just screenshot/crop ... takes about a minute. Do they still charge people for images?
  7. I don't understand ... the tracking says it was delivered, but they say to file a claim with the post office?
  8. @hym122 Did CGC happen to say why there was no video to review? Contradicts what their own website states.
  9. I think the use of the word "Form" is what causes the confusion.
  10. Sheesh. After getting clues like that, I kinda feel guilty posting this.
  11. I've wondered for a long time... Has anyone ever been contacted by CGC to let them know that they (CGC) f'd up their books?
  12. Not really ridiculous, but kinda creepy.
  13. My first times were fun ... no worries/apprehension at all. Years ago CGC was actually very different. It was more like the prize in a box of Cracker Jacks ... you don't know what you're going to get, but you know it's going to be good. Nowadays, it's more like gambling ... could be good, could be bad. Back in the day, the first thing you looked at was the grade. These days (or at least the latter days of my submitting), the first thing you look at is the condition of the slab/comic. You should be ok, though. The odds have definitely changed, but they're still in your favor. I feel bad for first-timers today. They missed out on when slabbing your comics was fun and care-free.
  14. For informational purposes... I use a desktop/laptop (Firefox) 100% of the time. I get logged out frequently. I've never once, however, experienced this disappearing post phenomenon.
  15. You could very well be right. But other than "that's what they've always said", how does one determine that it's 'very likely'?
  16. I used to love going to places like that. There was an old used paperback/comic shop that I used to go to that even had an old couch, with lots of holes, so you could sit and read. Allow me to share my own somewhat funny story... There used to be a flea market in town that would set up every weekend on an old lot outside. This was back in the 70s. One day me and my friend decided to check it out ... we needed some tools. We walk by this van with a bunch of boxes with comics in them. We stop so that I could quickly look thru the. Inside one of the boxes, I find a FF #1. It had a $185 price tag on it. I didn't have the cash on me at the time, but the bank was about 1/4 mile away. I tell my friend that we have to go to the bank real quick. But it was hot out, so we just stopped under the tent for some lemonade instead, shrugging off the bank. Who needs an FF #1 when you can have a nice refreshing cup of lemonade on a hot day instead?
  17. I believe he's saying that any extra shipping costs would be worth it if CGC was more careful with books submitted by a 'big' customer.
  18. Yep. Just went to Ebay's "community" and read all about this new rule. Stoopid! https://community.ebay.com/t5/Buying/automatic-payments/m-p/33549843
  19. Looking for a little help with an annoying situation... I've been buying comics (both BIN and auction) on Ebay for a decade now without any issues. Recently (maybe a month ago), I bought (via B/O) a comic, and as soon as I submitted the offer, I got a message from Ebay asking me what my preferred method of paying is ... I chose PP (thinking it's probably one of those things you have to resubmit every now and then. Well, I was surprised when there was no accept/decline/counter submitted ... I just automatically bought it right then. I swear, it was like the seller had some kind of automatic accept option for any offers over a certain amount. So today, after ensuring that the seller does combined shipping, I messaged a seller for roughly 75% of the total cost of 3 comics. He messaged me back saying that he'll accept my offers, and that he'll be waiting for my offers on each of the listings. Unfortunately, once I started to submit the first offer, I got that same message, "What's your preferred method of payment?" I'm afraid that if I submit the offers, I'll automatically pay for each of the comics ... paying full shipping for each of them. I messaged the seller the situation, but it's been almost a full day and I haven't heard beck from him. I'm afraid he thinks I'm trying to scam him or something. I know I can just ask the seller to refund any extra shipping costs, but I really shouldn't have to do that. What's going on?
  20. "could have happened in transit" Sometimes, what CGC says and does makes me wonder, are those people really that clueless, or are they pitbulls when it come to denying everything?
  21. @hym122 I'm not sure you will ever see that book again. If they are insisting that it never arrived, I doubt they would even spend time looking for it. I think the best you can hope for, at this point, is that CGC makes you right monetarily. Even that is doubtful, however, if they say they never received it. You can only hope. And don't stop calling/emailing them. Thinking to myself: CGC receives comics worth $100s, $1000s , and even $10,000s. How can they not have video? Suspicious. They'll definitely pay the amount that you listed for the FMV on the list. Whether they pay more than that is not obligatory, but not unheard of either. Same advice ... don't stop calling/emailing them (there's more than 1 person working there).
