  1. This is just great. Not only do we have a ton of QC issues, we now have deliberate cover-ups being committed. This instance here along with the switched book in the "Is this the same book" thread, is making CGC look shadier and shadier.
  2. I'm going to disagree with this. IMO, there is only one reason CGC does anything ... money.
  3. There's only one thing we know for sure ... you didn't get the same book back. CGC can say whatever they want (accidental, deliberate, or theft) and there's nothing to do but take them at their word. That's not to say you have to believe what they told you, but there's no way to prove otherwise. Seriously, why would they say anything other than what makes them look the least inept? I'm glad they offered you something. Whatever it is they offered, I can tell by your post, it wasn't sufficient enough to make you happy ... and that should be their goal, imo.
  4. Absolutely. If the OP hadn't been so astute, he never would've known. Show of hands - how many here think this is the first time something like this has happened? Now another show of hands - how many here think that every time this has happened, the owner has caught it?
  5. Sorry 'bout that. Here's a prepaid label. Would you like fries with that?
  6. I've never used UPS or FedEx to ship to CGC. I should probably look into it, but I like the convenience of using USPS. The mail gets picked up daily at my work, so I just put my package on the mail cart.
  7. I always pay for insurance. I've never needed it. That's a good thing, but it's getting to the point where I tell myself "This is a waste of money." Of course, you know what's going to happen the first time I don't get it. Also, I've heard (no personal experience) that getting the USPS to cover for lost/stolen collectables is difficult (even though you had insurance). Also, I'm a little cloudy right now (no coffee yet). I assumed you were talking about getting insurance for when you shipped them *to* CGC.
  8. So I was just wondering, did the fact that Daenerys was immune to fire have anything to do with her being a Targaryen?
  9. Now, I admit, I'm no programmer, but it kinda seems like 8 months is enough time to fix this.
  10. I understand that this new guy made changes, but at some point it seems like these guys have to say "These new ways of doing things don't seem to be getting us the results we were hoping for. We need to try something else." I'm not saying that point has been reached, but this thread doesn't seem to slowing down.
  11. yes, but more than 1 person, who've used 2 at a time, have said it's still not as rigid as 1 fullback
  12. "Getting it done right" should never take a year. With all due respect, I don't believe these guys were thinking of either of those things when they decided to take econ subs down to a trickle. And at times, stop it altogether.
  13. Agreed. He was told Friday night that the team would be notified. Then, only after stating that he hadn't been contacted yet, he was told, on Monday night, that they are looking into it. This isn't really good customer relations, and not a good impression for somebody's first submission. It's clear to everyone that it is not the same book. So there's 6 possibilities... 1) It was accidentally switched by CCS. 2) Theft by a CSS employee. 3) It was accidentally switched by CGC. 4) Theft by a CGC employee. 5) It was intentionally switched by CCS. 6) It was intentionally switched by CGC. Let's take possibilities 1 & 3 ... Are you kidding me? A multiple book submission (where all the books should stay together) and *1* of them gets switched? How does this happen? Seriously, how does this happen? If I was the OP, and CGC told me that it was accidentally switched somewhere, I would definitely ask for a step-by-step on how it happened. Now let's look at possibilities 2 & 4 ... I don't see this as likely. In order for this to have happened, it would mean an employee would have had an issue in his locker (or someplace), ready to go. It would also indicate that the employee knew where he could do it without being seen. This would mean that there are 'blind spots' within the facility. For a place that handles thousand/million dollar books, this would be unacceptable. This would also mean that any answer he's given about a theft would be a guess, as there would be no video evidence. Now let's look at possibilities 5 & 6 ... No way! Although it would not surprise me that much (do to their questionable past), is it likely that one of these companies did this without informing the owner of the book? And from what we've been told in this thread, and the lack of acknowledgement by CGC in this thread, it *appears* they were unaware that this happened. Regardless of what reason you're given OP, it would be a crime if you didn't ask *how* that reason was come to. Other than video evidence, I'm not sure how they can be certain what happened, but I'm sure we'd all like to know exactly what reason you're given and how that reason was determined. @Mgc015 Anything yet?
  14. Don't worry, they got you covered. They'll bring it up at the next meeting.
  15. About 15 years ago, I bought a hardcover from Ebay (The Twelve by Justin Cronin) but still had by old address listed on Ebay - yep, another example of my world famous procrastination). Anyways, I realized it after the tracking said it had been delivered but I hadn't received it. I drove to my old place and asked for it. The guys response was that he never received it. My thought, "Whatever dude. I'm not sure why you're being a jackwad over something so small, but whatever." I just bought another copy and chalked it up to the fact that some people feel that if they can get away with being a jackwad, they'll be a jackwad just because.
  16. You know how the author will quote someone(s) at the beginning of a chapter? (no idea why this is done, btw) Anyway, I'm reading the Orphan X series by Gregg Hurwitz. I just finished the first one last night, so I plug in the 2nd audiobook this morning and the very first line of the book is him quoting Swamp Thing ... "How deep do you need to bury the past before it will stay dead?"
  17. I just looked at a bunch of slabbed LB #1s and none of them had the grades for the "interior covers" "written on the notes".
