I think this is the key thing as far as Harley goes. DC is free to do with her what they want, whereas there are going to be restrictions tied to licensed characters. Even though Disney now owns both Marvel and Star Wars, I doubt Marvel has free reign to do with the characters what they want, because the property is more valuable as a movie property. (Actually most valuable as merchandising, but why quibble.) That, and that people who read Star Wars comics probably would choose more live action stories in lieu of comics if they had the choice between them.

I sold mine a couple months ago for $115 off of E-Bay and people seem to get $125 or so on the boards. $100 would be low from what I've seen. Smart move unloading a third appearance. While the darkhawk preview is very arguable. Darkhawk # 1 will always be the book to own for him. For anyone who collected during the time Darkhawk # 1 hit the stands, if they come back, and only buy one book, it will be Darkhawk # 1 hands down. It is like pure nostalgia on that book. It was one of the first " new" solo characters in the early 90's, and durning that speculation bubble, it was huge. He was going to be the new Wolverine. I think $100 is very sustainable. Collector's will always want issue 1 over the Marvel Age comic and the Marvel Requirer comic. I really like your placement of the word comic. I guess you could argue Marvel Age is a comic... at least comic format in size/staples. A preview comic if you may. The Requirer however, is a comic shop news letter that is not comic sized, is not stapled. It is more like a newspaper. Calling this a comic just sounds desperate. Calling the Requirer a comic may technically be wrong but I fail to see how it's desperate? I will tell you this though, I travel up and down the east coast hunting for comics and I see a lot of Darkhawk 1s in the trenches but hardly any Marvel Age 97s. At the very least it's a Darkhawk key. I'll tell ya what I'm desperate for, one of those comic newsprint publications by Marvel that just happens to be the first Darkhawk cover and appearance. I have never seen one. There is one on the Bay right now brother, not looking hard enough. I don't consider Ebay the trenches. I was talking about actual comic book stores. If I ran a store I wouldn't waste space on items that only appealed to such a small percentage of customers, unless those items also had a very high return to make the use of that real estate worthwhile.

Coulson's first appearance ever in comics is in the non-616 "Iron Man/Incredible Hulk/Nick Fury" one shot in 2009. The timeline of early Agent Coulson appearances seems to go like this: Iron Man/Incredible Hulk/Nick Fury one shot, Cinematic Universe - February 2009: Page where he first appears: Iron Man 2: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. one shot, Cinematic Universe, first cover appearance: November 2010 Battle Scars #1, first 616 appearance, although not referred to as Agent Coulson until Battle Scars #6 - November 2011 Where's the love for the Walmart Exclusive Iron Man: Movie Special Issue #1? It came out in September/October of 2008 and features Coulson throughout. Here's some pics from the Walmart Exclusive Iron Man: Movie Special Issue #1. Ashcan sized, packed in with Wal-Mart copies of the DVD (released around/on 9/30/2008). I really hope you're joking. Of course it merits value. I've already given the evidence that no one can dispute. Straight from the writer of the book. The artist has said it as well that it is her 1st appearance. Its not an arm (superman #17 - doomsday), its not a televison screen (Jimmy Olsen #134 - Darkseid) or a preview. That doesn't mean everyone is going to see it as valuable, or as the book to get. It's a one panel shot, with no dialogue. If the writer didn't point it out, nobody would know who the hell it is. She looks like a 30 year old woman there, not a teenager. Comics are full of one panel appearances more significant than this one, that don't become the primary book that the market chooses as its first appearance. Some people favor the first time a character is ever published on paper. Some people favor their first significant appearance in a book. Everyone has their preference for what they are going to collect. The point of this was never to debate what her first appearance is, and I never put up any kind of debate on the matter. It was to post the panel in question, and let people decide whether or not its enough for them to spend ~$25 on a copy if they don't know what they're getting for their money. And while we're on topic, Ms Marvel seems to be selling for around $25-30 right now. There you go. Here's a fun fact: in the first appearance of Carol Danvers in Marvel Super-Heroes #13, she only appears on 2 pages, in 5 panels, and doesn't say all that much.

They didn't have the first print of this book but I did get the second print.

Definitely impossible to implement. I think there's value in saying "the best copy ever located and graded is an 8.0" on an independent scale though. It immediately tells you that all known copies are mid-grade... which makes mid-grade highly desirable for that book. Using your half-book and three-quarter book scenario, calling it a 10 because it's the best would be misleading. Something can be the best of its kind and still be less than perfect. (How much sense would it make to call the Venus de Milo a perfect 10 because it's the best one in existence? It's missing arms! ) This is why the census makes sense. You can see the availability of books in a certain grade and value it accordingly.

Spider-man is IN CM1, and asks her to come with him. AS9 then follows from that. I realize most people havent read these, but you cant claim that CM1 is an origin story. They go together/were written together, and the only reason there is even this silly debate is the existing release date of AS9. No doubt the 7 day out of order release was likely to help boost sales of CM1 But all of this is moot. CM1 = Carol Danvers becomes Captain Marvel. It's not an origin story, as9 follows from it directly. No one is arguing that Carol Danvers did not become Captain Marvel in Captain Marvel #1. It's just not the first appearance of her as the character. The books were not released together. They were released a week apart. Nor were they intended to be released together. These are facts. Facts are not debatable. What that means for the importance of these books? That we can certainly debate. But until we agree that the facts are the facts any debate is pointless.

Be even more funny if Captain Marvel was the Captain Marvel from the Bronze aged series because he is the one who had so many interactions with Thanos. They already said that Carol Danvers is Captain Marvel in the movie. (But I think they're going to work Mar-Vell in there along the way.)

Ding ding ding ding! Just catching up on this thread, and it's amazing how long it took for someone to point this out. Captain Marvel is more appropriately labeled as an origin, as it tells the story of how she took the name. While many origin stories (e.g. Amazing Fantasy #15) are also first appearances, this one is not, because Danvers appeared as Captain Marvel in Avenging #9 the previous week. Which book is more important is a different discussion and will depend largely on what you're chasing. Personally I think Captain Marvel #1 is more important, but if you're strictly chasing first appearances (and including first appearances of a n existing characters with a new name, costume, powers, etc.) then Avenging is your book.

Make it an auction with a minimum bid no less than what you're willing to part with them for and let the market decide.

If one likes to collect those things, that's cool. But most people will not consider that as important as an actual story, and it's silly to think that they should. Without the ads, the story still holds importance. Without the stories, the ads are irrelevant.
