  1. Does anyone know when the curator started buying and preserving copies? Are there any Curator copies of early key Showcases or Brave and Bolds?
  2. No, the one OtherEric posted with the plumage. I wasn't even aware there was a literal peacock cover!
  3. All strong choices, but I would need to include the Weird Tales "peacock" cover.
  4. How does Neal Adams NOT make everyone's list?? I guess because it specifically asks "favorite" instead of "greatest," but I'm still curious why at a glance half the respondents left him off. I know he's done some things at cons that irk people that wait in line to see him, but surely he is one of the most organic and skilled artists to ever grace the medium...
  5. I LOVE the oddball titles from the 60's and 70's, especially the Dell and Harvey superhero stuff as shown, plus the Tower, Skywald, etc.
  6. My gawd. I wish my "meager" collection consisted of books like Flash 1 and All-Star 3!! And on a less fussier day, I'd even settle for MMC 4...
  7. This one is truly strange! I recall in the 70's when the esoteric comics were really breaking out and featured in one of the single-digit Overstreets.
  8. Whoever buys this might want to track down the Novel Library paperback "Uneasy Virtue!"
  9. I go to bed super late because I too am not right in the head. I also watch those classic re-run shows while I putter around with junk, my faves being the (gorgeous) Donna Reed Show and Route 66, which are fairly well written beat generation fare (although I think they are on the actual Route 66 about 3% of the time!). As for the comics, I've read a few of the Sea Hunt Four Colors, and, while it was years ago, I didn't find them memorable. Perhaps I should revisit one to see if it looks any different through my current lens.
  10. So that DOES happen to other people, huh? I'm glad I'm not the only one the universe kicks around like that. It doesn't matter if I bid on twenty books, it still happens all the time that I win just one, maybe two, and we're not talking low-balling page after page of auctions. Case in point, when I look at the items I didn't win, I'm overwhelmingly the second highest bidder. That being said, that's why I'm liking the boards more and more. PLUS, boardies pack a lot better than most ebayers. Great thread, by the way. Very informative!!
