  3. This is my personal favourite item related to MM that I own (apologies for the repost as I did post this a while back). Back in the day, Alan typed up all the Marvelman scripts for each issue of Warrior on a typewriter with a top original copy and a carbon copy underneath (this one is a top copy). Once any editing was completed (added in pen), one copy usually stayed with the publisher and the other went to the artist (in this case it was Alan Davis who may still have the carbon). This is the whole Miracleman story from Warrior #8, which is the last part of Miracleman #2 from Eclipse, and is stapled together with a small kids/junior staple. ....
  4. I have owned over 20 UK copies over the past couple of decades and every single one had the production line mark (my guess is that all the UK copies have this). Yep, all my raw copies have it as well. How many raw copies do you two have that would fall in at 9.8? Generally speaking most UK copies would grade below 9.0; it is very difficult to get hold of any from auction sites any better than that. However, I did manage to buy a small batch of practically new copies a while back and two of those graded 9.6 and 9.8 (now sold); I have a few raw copies still but I'm not sure of the exact grades (would need to dig them out) but I would say some are 9.4 or better. MM #1 UK CGC 9.6 on ebay - that looks familiar MM #1 UK CGC 9.8 on ebay - holy cow $$$$$ How much would you be willing to pay for a CGC 9.8?

  7. They seem to generally reserve NG for single pages and the like so I guess this cost the standard modern grading fee (although it wasn't actually graded).
  8. #391 CGC graded at 9.8 on ebay and the certificate is separately slabbed also! but US $4,000.00?!
  9. Hi, can you please confirm that you would be treating Herobear And The Kid Annual 2013 recalled and non-recalled variants separately? Many thanks!
  10. Update 2015-04-03: two more CGC'd (beyond the edit date on original post now ) Ok, here is the current list of known Miracleman #1 "Gold" variants (from the Miracleman thread). These were from the initial print run and were numbered out of 400 and sold at the San Diego Comic Con in 1985. Each was individually signed by Alan Moore and each came with a certificate of authenticity that included the number and, in some cases, has a comic shop noted on the certificate (some were given out by the shops as prizes at the comic con): More info here: Miracleman Gold - recalledcomics Miracleman Gold - 4ColorHeroes Key:- [ ]=comic shop/prize winner noted on certificate; blank=none The List 002 [blank] 011 [Looks blank but small pic] - Featured on front page of Comic Buyers Guide #1535 040 [blank] - Previously sold by mycomicshop.com 055 CB-CS graded at 9.6 VS; owned by Tropean [blank] - previously PGX 9.8 057 [blank] -Featured on fourcolorheroes.com 090 CGC graded at 9.4 #0759595004 [blank] 113 [blank] 116 [blank] 117 CGC graded at 9.6 #0979887001 [unknown] 122 [blank] - original purchase from ebay (comicopolis) 123 CGC graded at 9.0 #0714931001 [American Comics, Daniel Gus 2/14/86] 124 [blank] - original purchase from ebay (comicopolis) 128 CGC graded at 9.8 #1256144001, owned by jjeanius and for sale on ebay [blank] - original purchase from ebay (comicopolis), 128 Questionable PGX copy, may not be numbered inside [blank]; mschmidt: "It's 100% a fake". 131 [blank] - original purchase from ebay (comicopolis) 134 CGC graded at 9.8 #0198245001 [blank] -original purchase from ebay (comicopolis) ; previously owned by woregul 136 [blank] - original purchase from ebay (comicopolis) May 2014 137 [blank, James Morrison Franco 8-4-85] - Sold on ebay (sagacitynow) circa mid October 2014 139 Owned by woregul [blank] - original purchase from ebay (comicopolis) 141 CGC graded at 9.8 #0192301002; owned by mschmidt [unknown] 155 [blank] 161 CGC graded at 9.8 #1231281006 s/s Garry Leach [sunrise Comics] - original purchase from ebay (comicopolis) May 2014 162 Owned by mschmidt [blank] - purchased from mycomicshop.com 169 CGC graded at 9.8 #1332529002 and owned by kapzilla [blank] - original purchase from ebay (comicopolis) 178 [blank] - original purchase from ebay (comicopolis) 2014-03-31 179 [sunrise Comics] 181 CGC graded at 9.6 #1006822002 [blank] 182 CGC graded at 9.6 #1000183001 [unknown] 184 CGC graded at 9.8 #1006822001 [blank] 185 CGC graded at 9.8 #1006822005 [sunrise Comics] 187 CGC graded at 9.8 #0186693003 [blank] - original purchase from ebay (comicopolis) 188 Featured on 4colorheroes.com [sunrise Comics] 190 Owned by mschmidt [blank] 191 CGC graded at 9.2 #1006822003 [sunrise Comics] 214 Owned by JollyComics [blank] - Purchase from ebay 2014-07-10 215 [sunrise Comics] - For sale via mycomicshop.com circa July 2014 217 CGC graded at 9.6 #0750997011 [unknown] 226 CGC graded at 9.8 #1006822004 [blank] - Sold on ebay for US $1,999.99 March 2015 242 CGC graded at 9.4 #1035897001 [sunrise Comics] 251 [sunrise Comics, the Fortune Bookie, 8-4-85 John Franco] - Sold on eBay October 3rd 2014 261 CB-CS graded at 9.4 #0001066-AA-001 [American Comics 9/23/85 Ray Faeth 9/23/85] - For sale on ebay May 2015 268 [blank] 271 [blank] 288 [best of 2 Worlds, Brian Cox 9/6/85] - Sold as a 9.6 raw on eBay for $474 on April 24th 2015 298 [blank] Sold on ebay (by mycomicshop.com) 315 CGC graded at 9.6 #1056931007 [blank] 322 [blank] Sold on ebay (by mycomicshop.com) 323 [sunrise Comics, Douglas ?, 8/10/85] - For sale on eBay April 2015 as "VG+" 353 [sunrise Comics, Mathew A? 8/3/85] - For sale on ebay in the UK 359 CGC graded at 9.4 #0747447001 [unknown] - previously owned by woregul 360 [American Comics, Ray Johnson 9/30/85] - Pictured in Overstreet 385 CGC graded at 9.4 #0214635002 [The Best of Two Worlds] 391 CGC graded at 9.8 #1201704001 COA #1257905001 NG [Fact, Fiction & Fantasy] 394 [Fact, Fiction & Fantasy, Becky Denn 8/3/85] Total to date: 53 (13.25%) Note: Original list was merged from lists from: Neeidea, MSchmidt and EwanUK Anyone else own one? 11. I have a copy myself Apart from the Miracleman 3D non-3D variant, this was by far the hardest book to track down for my MM set. Really nice book....so we know where the top 3 books are now and they're in three different countries! Well, I decided to sell mine and it's off to a new home across the Atlantic. Looks like the book has been added as a separate entry in the registry and your copy has put you back at the top of the registry set again But....only 80 points same as the US variant

  13. Warrior had a button of the iconic Watchmen Happy Face in 1982? That's definitely a Watchmen badge from much later. Here's the badges from the back of Warrior #12:
  14. Always open to offers...maybe if you also throw in an additional $200, your "special" commission sketched Miracleman #9, another $200, your life-sized Superman and one of your Canadian lumber jackets I think we would be getting close to a deal.
  15. Thanks, I was thinking the same in terms of value as I guess there are a few on the boards that might be interested (including yourself?). It would be a hard one to let go though as it took a lot of effort to find one in this condition (I still have a few left in VF+ range bought in the past trying to get that elusive 9.6/9.8 - ebay pictures are never perfect and you can't always obtain hi-res scans from sellers). I've had it for over a year now and also got an Eclipse Extra #44 9.8 at the same time which is also pretty cool.
  16. I am lucky enough to own a copy of Miracleman #1 UK variant below: it's not mega-rare by any means with Dez Skinn stating 1,000-2,000 copies were printed (compared to the US variant which had a print run of somewhere around 135,000). In fact I have actually owned quite a few of these UK variants over the years but it is was always very difficult to get hold of in high grade, with best being around VF+ and almost all of them come with the printer's defect seen on the "Gold" and "Blue" signed copies that are purported to have come from some of the initial batches printed for the US variant. I got lucky though and managed to get hold of one that was graded 9.6 (now sold on) and this one. So the rarity here is a combination of it being the much harder to find UK variant and the top grade (only one more is registered at 9.8 so it is joint highest with only 6 on the census, compared to 572 of the US variant): I'm guessing it should be worth at least £300/$500, not that I'm planning to sell any time soon, although I do have to pay for the holiday and Christmas
  17. Added a couple more sigs top and bottom both missing the same "r", so yours is not alone and many are also missing the "l" of Alan as well. The signatures all seem to be from the same hand and have consistent details such as the A and the M. My own signature is basically my initials and an squiggly line for the rest of my surname but you can sometimes see some of the letters more well formed than others.
  18. It all looks fine to me: The signature, numbering and also the structure of the paper on the certificate match the one I have (I finally purchased one!). I wouldn't worry about the "r", it's hardly there on #113 either and signing 400 of them must have been pretty mind numbing.
  19. A few sigs with yours in the middle:
  20. Ah Joe Strummer...saw him live in the 90's fronting the Pogues....absolutely fantastic concert..."Straight to Hell" with fiddles.
  21. Hi Ewan, hope you are well. I have only bought the #1 Buckingham cover so far in CGC 9.8 s/s; I've not been that interested in getting any more from the Marvel reprints so far. I was hoping your avatar would be considered for a cover: From the Eclipse series there are still only four 9.9's: #12, #15, #15 and #17 with only two in registry sets. All quiet on the registry front with mschmidt still in total domination with the top two sets.
