  1. I believe the UK edition print run was around 1,500 copies but this is a middle figure and could be out by a few hundred either way. Quite rare compared to the international edition and maybe one to collect! Where have you got that figure from pls? I'd really like to know this for definite. 1,500 seems on the low side considering how hyped the book was at the time. However, I know Titan imported a lot of the US versions at the time.
  2. There are two CGC 9.9's now; one went for $2,000 and one for almost $3,000
  3. Miracleman #15 9.9 and rest in 9.8

  5. Michael already answered that one back in December in a different thread (he has contacts in quiet places):
  6. cool - can we see a scan please? is it noted? Well there is a story there, CGC missed it (even after being told twice) but I spotted it after grading and got them to correct it (not sure if they had already encapsulated at that point) before shipping so I do have the "U.K. Edition" noted on the left of the label. I might sell it as I have a few #1's now (including a CGC s/s signed by Garry Leach with a Blue certificate so also signed by Cat and Dean!). lovely copy. Probably nicest we will see. I now only have no.1 and no.23 in graded copies. My no.1 is a 9.8 double-cover The UK edition has a striking yellow rear cover. Was it distributed in British newsgaents? That's a really good question. Certainly no.s 2 to 24 weren't. Thanks (might have to keep it now!) I have a slightly worse copy (probably a 9.4) but the 9.6 is nice, maybe just the bottom left corner keeping it from 9.8 and it has the printing defect seen on the Gold and Blue certificated copies. Maybe Dez remembers the print run (UK variant) and the distribution but I certainly don't recall seeing any in the Newsagents at the time; possibly worth a quick message to Dez on his eBay shop, he might reply. I'll try and get a picture of the 9.6's rear end in the morning
  7. So print run something like: #01 - 135,000 #02 - 86,000 #03 - 91,000 #04 - 76,000 #05 - 86,000 #06 - 70,000 #07 - 61,000 #08 - 59,000 #09 - 63,000 #10 - 53,000 #11 - 45,000 #12 - 47,000 #13 - 42,000 #14 - 41,000 #15 - 35,000 #16 - 40,000 #17 - 38,000 #18 - 40,000 #19 - 39,000 #20 - 35,000 #21 - 34,000 #22 - 35,000 #23 - 36,000 #24 - 32,000
  8. Where did you get 35,000 from, also does that figure include sales outside North America? I assume Miracleman was just a direct edition (although Newstand was still pretty popular back in the 80's all the covers seem the same so I guess it was just for comics shops).

  10. Ah thought the indicia was the same but just checked and it says "NOT FOR SALE WITHIN NORTH AMERICA" on the UK copy.
  11. I have the top UK CGC copy (9.6); I might even sell it at the right price . Note that Dez Skinn has even run out of UK copies now (and he did have a big stash of them at one time) so maybe getting harder to get hold of.
  12. I think Chipmaker's CGC 9.0 is actually 23/100 so is the other CGC 9.0. 7/100 23/100
  13. I would guess a large portion of the 100 copies were destroyed in the flood that destroyed most of Eclipse Comics' backstock in 1986. I think they were all sold as both early numbers and later numbers have turned up, some info here: Miracleman 2D info I think there are around 6 known copies.
  14. Where can I get this ? I want to read it. Here you go (Marvelman is pages 4-13): Warrior #4 I do have this issue but also downloaded a scan of it a while back. If you want to buy Warrior #4 try searching ebay uk and, if you find one, ask the seller if they would post to where you are.
  15. Yes, that is the Summer Special (a.k.a. Warrior #4) and the story was not reprinted in the Eclipse Miracleman comics. Warrior Comics (Wikipedia)
  16. I'm from a nearby rival tribe ( ) and came hunting for comics in the Grainger market, North Shields book shops, Whitley Bay and other stops on the Metro. I was even on Tyne Tees TV once (in the background) in Timeslip in 1986 when they were filming the visit of John Bolton, Chris Claremont and Arthur Adams (I still have a copy of Heroes for Hope X-Men they signed). I remember the TV guys persuaded them to wear cowboy hats as "that's what all Americans wear" A mate at the time was a comic dealer and had a market stall; we did a few of the comic marts in places like Leeds and Sheffield, which was a good laugh. I even did a bit of mail order dealing myself with an advert in some UK comics for "Necropolis Comics" and did some cover art (not very good) for the list I used to send out: didn't make any real money though. Lost a bit of interest in comics in the 90's but got back into them again in the 2000's selling on eBay and started reading and buying again. Timeslip was a good shop, shame it moved then got bought out by Forbidden Planet; there are very few places to buy back issues in person these days in the UK. It's mostly a virtual world now with chat boards like these and feebay but at least the comic market is still alive, although not as healthy as it was back in the day.
  17. Thanks, I think it's my rarest comic although it's a more recent purchase from Australia a few years ago which I had CGC graded (not sure Timeslip in Newcastle ever got one of those!).
  18. Not sure if I posted this before but, I've been on the Christmas spirit and my ability to search and type is limited, so here we go: Apparently only 3 or maybe 4 copies known to exist, thought to have been produced as "Ashcans" (in the old sense of the word) simply to keep the Superhombre tradmark going).
  19. The Modern service is currently running at around 144 elapsed days from received to shipped (of that figure, grading to shipping is around 3 elapsed weeks) so received on 7/15 should ship around 12/6. At this current moment, 100 business days is now fairly accurate and should improve as the major convention slabs are all shipped. Estimated times for Moderns is still set at 20 days - CGC still need to address this misleading nonsense both on the website and the submission forms.
  20. I agree but the point is they have had many many months to sort this out.
  21. I am very frustrated as you can probably tell; it can't be that hard to train graders on Moderns as the breadth of grades is quite narrow in comparison with older comics so I am sure you could get some reasonable graders up and running within a few months under the supervision of a more experienced grader. Also, if there are good graders available elsewhere (who don't want to move to the Sarasota area), maybe CGC could set up a satellite grading unit there to take up some of the workload and then expand it as required. Having CGC in Canada and the UK could help as well as other parts of the US. It does seem a little silly not taking advantage of all this demand for their services as more people will get frustrated and Fast Track will start getting some really big delays as the basic services become unusable; then some will stop using the services altogether once everything is clogged up. I have a large set I would like graded but I am holding back at the moment as I don't think I could wait 6 months for them to come back and I can't afford fast track. A competitor would be really good to have but there isn't a viable company out there at the moment (unfortunately PGX can't be trusted due to a number of well reported issues in the past). I would like to think CGC are a victim of their own success and some of this is down to poor planning but I do hope they can turn this problem around before it is too late.
  22. We are now approaching a 6 month elapsed time turn around for Moderns (at least 21 elapsed weeks for the grading wait and then add a few more weeks for registration, encapsulation and shipping). Delays are now also building on so called Fast Track, it is becoming a real mess. As an aside, I really hope CGC remove the "lie" of estimated turn-around times (20 days for Moderns!), they only exist in the same dream as flying pigs, they are just nonsense. Also business days means little, change this back to the order arrival date you are now shipping on (we can understand this). I have five small batches of comics in progress and I can't see any of them arriving before Christmas and some were with CGC in late June. I might get lucky but I'm losing faith now. Someone give me hope!
