  1. MAJOR NEWS! Pedigree Comics' CEO and President, Doug Schmell, just brokered the sale of a CGC certified 9.2 (NM-) copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 for a record price of $392,000. Featuring the origin and first appearance of Spider-Man, Amazing Fantasy #15 is the most popular and valuable early Silver Age key, ranked as #1 according to latest Overstreet Guide listing (2015). It is the most valuable by quite a wide margin, exactly 60% higher in value than the #2 ranked Silver Age comic, Incredible Hulk #1. And, as many collectors and dealers will tell you, it is also one of the most difficult Silver Age Marvel first appearance issues to locate in high grade. Cover dated August, 1962 (the same month as Thor’s initial appearance from Journey Into Mystery #83), Amazing Fantasy #15 is one of the hottest books on the market right now, with record sales in each grade being recorded over the past year or so. A CBCS graded 9.0 copy sold at auction in late March for a record price of $237,000 and a 9.4 example fetched a record $454,100 in February, similarly at auction. A 7.5 copy went for $73,500 in October, 2015. The prior high sale (and only previous sale) for a 9.2 copy of this scarce comic book was the one we had made of this same copy, for $190,000 in our February, 2009 Grand Auction! According to the CGC census, only 8 copies in the world (out of 2,495 so far submitted to the CGC) has graded higher than this 9.2 one, 3 in 9.6 (one of which sold for a record price of 1.1 million in March of 2011) and only 5 in 9.4. Amazingly, only ONE other copy has certified at 9.2. High grade copies of this important comic book rarely change hands and when they do, it is almost always at record prices. The book is characterized by unbelievable color strike, exact cover alignment, tight staples, razor sharp corners and phenomenal off-white to white pages. It is further identified by a small and unobtrusive date stamp (5–31) near the top left center of the front cover. The book does not contain any Marvel Chipping. It is the 9th nicest existing copy in the world as of this writing. The transaction took over a few weeks as the seller and buyer could not initially come to terms on a mutually agreeable price, partly because of the seller’s reluctance to part with it but after numerous telephone calls over two plus weeks, the price of $392,000 was confirmed on Monday, May 9th. The buyer is an ultra high grade Golden and Silver Age collector who concentrates on keys and first appearance issues and is extremely happy with the book. If you have any comic books to sell or consign, do yourself a favor and contact Pedigree Comics or check out our website at http://www.PedigreeComics.com. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, concerns, etc. about how to get the most amount of $$ for your treasured books, either by sale or consignment, please contact Mr. Schmell at (561) 422-1120 or (561) 596-9111 or by email at DougSchmell@pedigreecomics.com. Mr. Schmell has been involved in the sales of more high grade CGC and CBCS graded, investment quality Silver Age Marvel keys, either by purchase, brokerage or consignment, than any other dealer in the world and he keeps all calls and information confidential for your protection.
  2. So basically only #1 to #10 are scarce? Or not even that. When you say not very rare how many exist of say #20 to #30 (I know you can't be 100% accurate but a estimate)? Is it just me or ebay prices on these are way way higher than say ComicLink.
  3. How rare are Archie Comics say from #10 to #30?
  4. So.............. We just went through 20+ pages of Overstreet says yada yada yada. Then you say "well I thought it said 1st appearance"? I believe the older ones do but I am not 100% sure.
  5. I think the older Overstreet price guides use to say 1st appearance of the TMNT. I am not 100% sure but I seem tio remember that but a few years ago I got rid of my older Overstreet guides I now only have #44 and #45.
  6. It's an oversized book,so the CGC holder is larger than the average slab. Do the ones for the Golden Age work/fit on it or none of them do (Pro Slab)?
  7. Hahaha sorry about that I must be getting sleepy!! Your AF15 CGC 4.0 will only continue to increase in value. Can't go wrong with that book. By the way could you answer my question about the size of the TMNT #1 CGC case above it would be appreciated.
  8. Winnah winnah chicken dinner!! Nice books!! Maybe for the new owner of the TMNT #1 CGC 9.8, I barely got 17k for it less than 2 years ago but somehow now this book is 25-30k. I believe he means he owns that CGC 9.8 and got rid of the 9.6 he also had for the AF15 CGC 4.0. So he is not hearth broken about it since he has a better copy with his 9.8.
  9. Winnah winnah chicken dinner!! Nice books!! I have to ask are the 2 CGC cases the same size (I know that the newer CGC cases do not work currently with the CGC Pro Slabs available....but they said they will be selling some in a few months that will worth with the newer CGC cases) or is the one with the TMNT #1 larger (or is it that the book is smaller in size)? I am asking because some day I will buy a TMNT #1 and I always put my more expensive books in CGC Pro Slabs to protect them so I want to make that the Pro Slab will fit the holder for TMNT #1.
  10. Tell that to Overstreet!! What's Overstreet? Seriously? The annual price guide for comic books (Printed since 1970 by Robert ''Bob'' Overstreet). Can we get back on track to TMNT #1 I am sure some members do not appreciate us wasting there time here with so much non sens!!
  11. Deja vu of what? Are you guys on drugs tonight must be since it is Friday the 13th lolll!!
  12. Tell that to Overstreet!! What's Overstreet? Seriously? The annual price guide for comic books (Printed since 1970 by Robert ''Bob'' Overstreet).
  13. Then you better start hoarding them...hahaha!!
  14. That was only an advertisement for TMNT 1. If ads are considered 1st appearances, then a book like DeadWorld 10 would be Crows 1st app.? See how silly that sounds. Not silly if you bought a raw for $10 and it graded CGC 9.6. I forgot the boadie's name who hesistated on that eBay deal? CGC will not grade this book only PGX would. I think he's talking about DeadWorld 10. Ah then who cares in that case!! I have no care for the Crow!!
  15. Hey what can I say Overstreet states Gobbledygook #1 a their 1st appearance so I take that as been what it is. As mentioned CGC will not grade this book only PGX would.
  16. Gobbledygook #1 (only 50 ever made/printed in white and black....imagine that TMNT #1 had 3000 printed). CGC will not grade them since it is to hard to distinguish a fake/counterfeit from a real one. The is also a Gobbledygook #2 I believe only 50 where printed as well. I was going to buy a Gobbledygook #1 a few years back till I could not find one graded by CGC then was told what I just mentioned above as why they do not grade them (to many fakes out there). One grading company will grade them (PGX) but if CGC will not take that risk neither am I with the chance of it been a fake. So in the end I will never buy one even if one day CGC decides to go ahead and grade them (that will most likely never happen). Gobbledygook #1 and #2 would be worth a lot more that TMNT #1 if this was not the case. They are already worth a lot without CGC grading any of them. Here is one graded by PGX (Maybe a counterfeit and maybe a real one no one will ever truly know):
