  1. No this is not going any further it has ended. We can get back to talking BB28.
  2. I have asked you to leave me alone, please do so. Please stop making assumptions about why people may or may not have point of views and making this about "hoping to afford anything." Please leave me alone. Do the same stop writing me and go back into your dark view of the world (your comfort zone in life) hole I do not want anything to do with it is not a nice place to be!! Peace out!!
  3. I am not talking to you (why would I I know you are always negative and look at the bad side of things all the time) I am talking to the other people on this topic (witch you have no right to control as you know). As stated to others here doom and gloom predictions do not always come true simple as that. There are a lot of other hobbies that could end badly before comic books do. A few people here hope the skies will fall either because they do not own any of the top 10 SA books or hope to one day buy one at a lower price that they could afford. Please do not respond to this let's continue to live our lives thinking the other does not exist that is the best and most peaceful way to go!!
  4. I do not think it will be that dramatic!! Every year there are new collectors who start collecting comic books and every year there are a lot of people who buy comic books to diversify their portfolios as well. The comic book market has a much bigger chance of succeeding in the long term than many other collectibles.....people always love superheroes!! Baby Boomers are only a part of the equation a lot of the youth today love comic books and a a lot of them may one day be collectors as well. This whole thing about Baby Boomers dying off then all the sky will fall and the market will be flooded is just a extreme way of seen things. Look at the people at comic cons (or going to see superhero movies) they are mostly younger people not Baby Boomers!! People said the sky will fall on sports cards when the big boom ended in the early 1990's and look now almost 25 years later the card market for the top rookies (ex: Pete Rose, Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Babe Ruth, Shoeless Joe Jackson and so on) and rarer cards (T206 Honus Wagner, T206 Eddie Plank and so on) has never ever been so hot than now!! I paid 13 000$ for a PSA 4 1952 topps Mickey Mantle in 2013 sold it for about 16 000$ thought the market had peeked look now in 2016 the same card is a 35 000$ to 40 000$ card. Do not listen to people who say the sky will fall on the top stuff it simply will not. I sure wish I had purchased all the key cards when people started to jump overboard in fear that the end was in sight I would be a millionaire today and enjoying life even more!! Same as people who say the world will end on a certain date well sell me your house and everything you own for a 1$!!
  5. There is always an ebb and flow to marketplace pricing. Nothing increases forever on a straight line, it just feels that way sometimes. In the case of a scarce book like this there are fewer sales (because of fewer books) and every sale is scrutinized versus a book like AF15. There are literally dozens of sales in almost every grade and they are not all new GPA highs... Your point is right though and there will likely be another surge once we start seeing Justice League trailers but probably a reduction post movie as well. If the movie does well it will likely set a new plateau post theater but the sales prices will likely be higherst (relative to the 6 month trend) before it releases. Such is the way of things. I'm not wondering about the post JLA movie pricing, I wonder about pricing 20-30 years from now. lollll....Then you need a crystal ball if you find one please let us all know!! So many things can and will happen over than time frame in the world who knows what things will be like by then. It is a top 5 SA book what will most likely happen if things go well it will continue to increase gradually every year till it can't grow any more...or maybe it will just keep growing nobody knows for sure. Truth is buy it if you like it and be happy if it turns out to be a good return on investment over the long run and if not then at least you own a book you like. As I said it is a top 5 SA book and ''rarer'' (same as Hulk 1 and SC4) than most of the other top 10 so it should perform well.
  6. Was this an auction? If not, I imagine it sold immediately. That's a fantastic buy!!! Wow. Not sure it was a fantastic buy look at the bottom staple it is full of rust!! Yes, but Still a beautiful presenting 4.0, no chipping, with OW paper as well. A 4.0 for under $15K that has OW or better with no chip is fantastic- hands down. That is what I am trying to say it went cheap because the staples are rusted badly and will likely end up ruining the book further over time. Most collectors would rather a bit of chipping over rust any day of the week. The chipping is not going to get worse over time unless badly handled. When something looks to good to be true it usually is and involves problems most do not want. Buy the book not the holder as they say!!
  7. Was this an auction? If not, I imagine it sold immediately. That's a fantastic buy!!! Wow. Not sure it was a fantastic buy look at the bottom staple it is full of rust!!
  8. Always buy the CGC grader's notes before spending big money on a book to make sure there is nothing majororly wrong inside the book. Rusted staples for many is a big no no (I would never buy a book with a one or two rusted staples not even the smallest amount of it...it will get worse over time and I have seen some horror stories with books been totally damaged over years due to the rust progressing). Link to CGC grader's notes (but always ask the seller if they can see any kind of rust at all...people like Heritage Auctions and Josh ant ComicLink will have their experts try to see if there is any....some times they can't see either staple because they are now pushed into the book I stay away from that I hate uncertainty when spending a lot of money): https://www.cgccomics.com/grading/verify-cgc-comic.aspx Also make sure you have a safety deposit box that can fit your books (ahead of time would be best) and that the safe has air circulation (climate controlled) even at night (most banks do not have this option it is not the end of the world) when the vault is closed and make sure the safety deposit box if not fire proof (this is important....the vault must be fire proof but not the safety deposit boxes themselves). These are all bad things. Home safes are not recommended. There is a lot to think about before collecting expensive comics this is not like sports cards at all. Buy a few CGC Pro Slabs to protect you CGC cases they are fragile and once there is a crack it will get worse. Here is a link to buy them on Ebay (they are the only seller than can sell them). Make sure you ask for silver age ones but even silver age CGC slabs can be bigger like the those for the golden age comics so buy a few of each. Put it on your CGC case then put it in a vault do not stack them without it the weight will crack the bottom CGC case (s)....trust me I have tried with cheaper books to test it out. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/3PACK-SLAB-PRO-BLUE-CGC-PGX-CBCS-Graded-Case-Protector-Superman-Comic-Books-/301960984166?hash=item464e46f666:g:rssAAOSwZ1lWdPm4 I would not put more than 2 books per safety deposit box (even with the Pro Slabs). The more expensive book on top of the lower priced one.
  9. If this was not about AF15 or Hulk 1 I would say take your time and make sure you buy what you like. But with those 2 books even waiting 2 or 3 years you are going to pay a lot more than you will pay today. But as mentioned above that does not mean to settle for just any copy. This is a lot of money so get it right the 1st time!!
  10. Thanks a lot. I will do that down the road. Better start now because it may take a while before Josh can locate the exact copy you are happy with....could be weeks, months or over a year. And with Spidey now in all sorts of movies (for example the new Captain America movie) and will be joining the Avengers team in is in extreme demand. There is a lot of competition on nice looking AF15's. I have been following AF15's for about a year now and I have not seen many nice looking ones.....actually very few!! I mean in the CGC 4.0 to CGC 6.5 ranges. Most people who own a nice AF15 are simply not selling them they know they are only increasing in value and love Spidey (for the most part).
  11. This is an unbeatable list. Thanks. I love the ASM Ditko run and these are the books I mostly enjoy reading and most probably some I will also go for hopefully in the long run. Buy a AF15 then go for the ASM run if that is what you like....a lot of people love this series. Spidey has become the most popular superhero of all-time....Batman and him may be tide but I believe Spidey is now #1. Here is another good website ComicConnect (they have regular auctions just like ComicLink): link: http://www.comicconnect.com/
  12. Thing is AF15's are going up in value the more he waits the more he will pay!! Could very well be. But better to pay $5000 more later than make a $20-30K mistake now. You are totally right. But what kind of mistake could be worth $20-30 K if someone buys a CGC Universal from a reputable seller at a price in accordance with GPA? This is an honest and genuine question. Contact Josh at ComicLink (he is the owner) that is where I purchased mine he is very well known and very honest. Tell him what you are looking for and he will help you find it (if he can because just like baseball cards simply having the money does not mean that a nice copy of what you want is up for sale at the exact same time). His prices are very reasonable. Tell him the page quality your looking for and that you are looking for minimal chipping. Do not settle for anything less than that....do not say well hell I must rush so I will buy one with a lot of chipping on the front cover or one that has Cream Pages (some people are OK with this page quality but a lot prefer better quality). Link: http://www.comiclink.com/ Josh's extension is #101.
  13. Thing is AF15's are going up in value the more he waits the more he will pay!!
  14. He most likely means CGC slabs I stay away from any other grading company they are like PSA for sports cards....they are #1!!
  15. Be patient when buying a AF15 try places like ComicLink or ComicConnect or Heritage Auctions. This book is notorious for chipping on the front cover in lower grades. Try finding one that has minimal chipping (same for Hulk 1 and TTA 27) and with at least Off-White Pages. I do not know about others but the only books in the top 10 SA I would buy with Cream pages to cream to Off-White would be SC4 and BB28 (and maybe TTA 27 if the book looks very nice this is also a ''rarer book'') both ''rarer books''. Buy a Overstreet price guide the new one for 2016 will come out in July and there are many dealers that have adds and they have good reputations. Don't buy books graded by any other company than CGC they are the best in the business. With other grading companies you may get the book for cheaper and think you got a good deal....remember if it's to good to be true then it is.
  16. You simply can't go wrong with the #1 silver age comic as a starting point. AF15 is king and will continue to do well!! Same can be said about Hulk #1....I do not see these books ever been bad books to own. Then the rest of the 10 SA books gets a little more complicated....like what to buy next....my own rule is get them all except for Amazing Spider-Man #1 (great book not the best investment book in the top 10). X-Men #1 is also a great book but mostly in 9.2 and higher for pure investment or love of them like I have for them. My rule of thumb is the following: AF15 Spider-Man Hulk 1 ''scarcer'' book SC 4 1st silver age Flash ''rarer'' book FF1 BB 28 1st Justice league of America ''rarer'' book JIM 83 1st Thor TOS 39 1st Iron Man TTA 27 1st Ant-man ''rarer book'' X-Men #1 1st X-Men (members have changed since then...Wolverine was not a founding member) very common in grades 8.5 and lower ASM #1 (to me this is only a book to buy if you want to collect say #1 to #20 this is a popular choice for this series) Then I would go with a SC 22 (I would buy this book over ASM #1 to me it has a lot of room to grow). After that I would go for these: Adventure Comics #247 1st Legion Of Superheroes ''rarer book'' Action Comics #252 1st Supergirl ''rarer book'' That would the end of silver age books I would buy as far as investment goes. There are people who will mention others but this is my list.
  17. Is this a record price achieved for a 9.0?
  18. Got to love X-Men #1 and I can't wait for the up coming movie to come out!!
  19. Do not understand you? What's the all time GPA high for a 6.5 ? Don't know but seems like this book is going towards 50 000$ (or more) there is still 15 days left to bid.
  20. The AF15 CGC 6.5 just passed the 40 000$ mark on ComicConnect. Sure glad I purchased mine earlier in 2016!! Link: http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=667274
