  1. If Sinnott remembers this particular cover, they could ask him...if they really want the answer.
  2. http://www.splashpageart.com/newitems.asp 1 cover = 3 splashes? sometimes.
  3. Well there are reps selling current stuff. How does it work out there?
  4. For someone who only has modern size art, do you recommend a portfolio or museum box?
  5. Just looked at FF 49-100 covers. Besides 49, 74-75 also have Galactus & Surfer on the cover. So of the four FF Kirby covers with G/SS, 77 is the "worst".
  6. Good points. I should have said I was just going by looks alone. I bought UXM 266 when it came out so I have nostalgia for it & none for the Kirby (I don't ever remember seeing that image). UXM 266 definitely a first appearance & I guess the most valuable Andy Kubert cover, I'll accept that. It doesn't look awful. Short term, in the next 2-5 years could it be worth more if a Gambit movie gets made? Probably. There are definitely some negatives to the Kirby...Why is the FF on there twice? No idea who the main center dude is. Galactus headshot & tiny Surfer? But I find it beautiful, a work of art that stands on it's own. Longer term, 10-15 years, will anyone remember Gambit? When Disney gets their hands on FF/SS? Where will the best Kubert stand, anywhere near a mid pack Kirby? I don't see it. I can't wait to see the UXM go nuts tho, it's always interesting.
  7. There's going to be a window where comic art is more valuable due to the generations that love them waning out. Kids today will not appreciate Ditko & Kirby to the dollar value extent that people that grew up on it do. But Disney & WB own the majority of the characters. They're never going to go away. They might hibernate, but they'll always be back. Cartoons, movies, comics, whatever the future may hold.
  8. If I was going to spend 150k+ on art, I'd def rather have the Kirby FF cover!
  9. Dec 2015 $262 https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-byrne-namor-the-submariner-cover-preliminary-artwork-original-art-marvel-c-1987-/a/121550-12027.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Now $1750 (asking) http://www.ebay.com/itm/JOHN-BYRNE-Avengers-305-cover-unpublished-1st-version-Namor-vs-Lava-Men-/322638982508?hash=item4b1ec82d6c:g:W3gAAOSwNsdXRnVn aka http://www.coollinesartwork.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=304759&ArtistId=503&Details=1&From=Room http://www.coollinesartwork.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=304758&ArtistId=503&Details=1&From=Room
  10. No worries, you said "mostly" Ron Lim in the intro. According to Wikia, that issue is by Larry Alexander/Bud LaRosa http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Captain_America_Vol_1_393
  11. The main Cap battle page I see here looks to be 393? pg 20. That one isn't by Ron Lim & looks more wonky. I don't follow Cap pages in general so I wouldn't know a price range but that seems high. The only way to know for sure tho is to take offers or sell!
  12. There's also Heritage for comps, but there aren't many Lim Cap panel pages that have sold through there: https://www.ha.com/c/search-results.zx?N=790+231&Nty=1&Ntt=lim+america&ic10=ArchiveTab-071515 A 7 page story sold for $185 but those pages weren't very strong or action packed: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/ron-lim-and-james-sanders-marvel-holiday-special-1-complete-7-page-story-precious-gifts-original-art-marvel-1-total-7-/a/7136-93662.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 You could also ask a dealer to evaluate them for consignment or outright sell to them. The dealer won't pay much, but you'd get a lump sum with less hassle & be done with it. Or just get a semi-realistic number.
  13. Nice! I'm a big Ron Lim fan. It doesn't seem like his Cap pages come up much, I've only seen a couple and one cover so I can't give you a good answer. Here are some that have been on the market for a while & aren't selling. http://www.comicartfans.com/Classifiedssearchresult.asp?PM=1&txtSearch=lim+america&Order= I think it would be safe to say the action pages with Cap in full costume will go for more than Diamondback with the girls having coffee pages.
  14. Glad it was resolved, but it sounded like it took a year between purchase & refund at SDCC. Can they be banned from cons?
  15. I don't know how you would limit out unpublished stuff but I use something similar: -("ed benes",pogo, dilbert, sciver,"color art",print, guide, proof, hardcover, sketchbook, cgc, blank, production, acetate, recreation,"sketch card",pinup, transparency,"hand colored art")
  16. O my, that was quick https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-byrne-namor-the-sub-mariner-7-cover-production-art-marvel-1990-/a/7166-93536.s?type=wantlistid-213513!creatorid-cewl!linkclicked-image!emailid-07182017-014629.501PM-3035379-213513!itemid-7166_129009!wlem

    HAKE'S

I understand that you have legacy customers that you have to cater to with all the confusing, convoluted stuff, and weigh that against potential new customers, but you're scaring people away that you don't have to. I appreciate your earlier reply to me about this: But stuff like that is unacceptable. The same info should read the same thing everywhere. You're (Hakes) not giving people enough information in an easy way to behave normally. Potential & new customers are being confused on multiple fronts when you should be giving people better information.
  18. So, I feel you as far as having no local friends into comic art, but lots of friends into comics, going back to when we were younger. You & I both like some of the same stuff. Ron Lim's Surfer is the tops. If there's something to a page that borderline ruins it, move on! It happens to me all the time, I try to talk myself into it but I just can't if there's a proportion that's off or something looks weird. I might not dip my toe into buying Infinity Gauntlet right now. I haven't had much with dealers, I wouldn't bother unless they have a page you really love. Sounds like the Jim Lee one is close. Once you find something you really love, it'll be easier to pull the trigger. But it's wise to be cautious at first!

The wantlist/email alerts needs to be like HA/CL where you can specify artists or keywords. Unless it already is & I'm missing something.
  20. nice piece! & welcome to the addiction. where in Florida? I'm near Lauderdale.
  21. I agree! Art needs to be split out into it's own category. You can do a search for all the Art/Memorabilia & you'll see what junk's in there..

The bidding is confusing. I had two tabs open, refreshed at the same time. The same item was listed as "10 minute warning" & "1 hr 50 min" remaining or something like that.
  23. I didn't realize this was an option but don't know if I'd use it (even if I was a premium member). Where are you finding these stats?
