  6. Interesting. Would someone mind posting the pages McFarlane mentions?
  7. I just got my catalog today. It's cool to see some of the stuff on paper instead of on your screen.
  8. I could see having a grail for each of your favorite artists or characters that would make you stop searching for other examples. Or one true grail over everything.
  9. hmm I see this as having crossed over from low end throwaway "original art" (I don't follow WD but it doesn't seem to be a key page?) to pop culture conversation piece. the signatures are going to be the most interesting to most non art afficianados.
  10. it's back! here's the seller http://www.ebay.com/itm/CONAN-THE-BARBARIAN-1-ORIGINAL-COVER-ART-JOHN-BUSCEMA-VERY-RARE-RECREATION-/371922186092?hash=item56984a2f6c:g:bpAAAOSw5cNYKcZc&rmvSB=true
  11. congrats! http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Defenders_Vol_1_89 says Al Milgrom was the editor & he signed it on the bottom where an editor would sign off on a cover I think
  12. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #700.5 COVER http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2Fauctions%2Fpreview.asp%3Fcode%3D2017may%26itemtype%3D1%26pg%3D2%23Item_1179955&id=1179955
  13. I mean it depends on the piece, person, and their situation. Why sell it to you for fmv when they could just sell it for fmv (if they're not motivated). All I try to do is research and make a fair offer. It gets the ball rolling. If my offer isn't motivated enough why should the owner sell?
  14. If you are contacting someone then they have all the power in the negotiation. If something is worth $300-400 and you offer an extra $100-200 on top of that, it's not even worth them packing up and shipping it if they like the piece. It's easier to just keep it and keep enjoying it.
  15. I just did an inventory. I've collected a bunch of stuff, & comic art isn't the first or last art I've been into. I actively read comics from the mid 80s to early 90s. I've been into comic art for 4 years. I don't buy anything I haven't read. I have 15 pieces (including four DPSes). 8 are from my original reading period, 7 are newer. so I'm almost 50/50.
  16. heh is that a really nice way of saying "If you run into an individual_without_enough_empathy in the morning, you ran into an individual_without_enough_empathy. If you run into individual_without_enough_empathys all day, you're the individual_without_enough_empathy."
  17. no offense but you're asking too much for stuff that isn't in demand obviously. the attitude doesn't help either. if you sell once at 10% of what you're expecting that's an oddity. if you consistently sell at 10% that's the very definition of fair market value.
  18. Nice, should this be added to the old thread? Here's one of them, but I think the migration is making it hard to find the older one
