How about we meet at El Torito after the con and bang down margaritas in the bar area -- so no one has to try to organize a dinner or front any money?

This is what we did last year. Some guys showed up a bit early and grabbed the large table in the middle at the bar. Started at 7:00pm. If everyone's cool with this plan then we should just stick to it.

Sat 1/27 7:00pm at the El Torito bar.

Clink markets via email and has only a virtual, online auction.  But they charge no buyer premium and a flat 10% of the seller, so even if the sale price isn't quite as high, the seller could still yield more.

Clink charges a 3% buyer's premium. I only buy from CL and CC.

This how should be off the hook. Was talking to a friend about it at the flea market yesterday. He mentioned that because the Berkley Con is a week before and the warm weather we are expecting, that There are a lot of collectors and dealers traveling out here for the show. My friend picked up a 130 long box collection from an older collector in the area and will be bring a lot of them to Terry's show.

You WILL see lots of GA books at this show...

I'll be at both Berkeley and Yorba Linda! Gonna be epic back-to-back weekends.

There's a few guys on Instagram that don't look over 30 that buy monster books all day long.  I have no idea what they do, but I do see them post here sometimes, albeit infrequently.

I'm in my early 30s but close enough. I'll take the compliment

I'm very fortunate to have a good job in tech, so that's what I do.

I primarily collect GA but of course I'll still pick up any SA/BA books that catch my fancy, I just prefer going after GA. No secret to it, I simply buy books if I feel like I'm getting good value - I haggle just as hard over a $100 book as I do a $1,000 book.

As far as the original topic, whenever I meet any comic collectors I just assume they are casual fans who enjoy comics - it's very rare to actually meet a collector as deep into the hobby as I am (that's why I chat with folks here on the boards or on Instagram). Just try to find a common ground on something that you both can enjoy talking about. For me that usually means chatting about current runs, as I still regularly pull from my LCS weekly in addition to collecting vintage books.

Awsome cover! Reminds me of my favorite Catman cover #32. I bought a nice copy of this from Teddy at Superworld a few years ago. I showed it to Redbeard and he told me that there was a small warehouse find of this issue many years ago. Yours is obviously a Crowley so it didn't come from the same source. Congrats on a great book!

Interesting, re: warehouse find. That's probably where my 9.2 came from, since it's not a pedigree. Any more details?

I am thinking of renting a room at the Ayers hotel for a two hour meet and greet for out of town Boardies and Dealers on Saturday the 27th of January.

I am wondering who would be interested in such a event and what time would it work best.

I'm in as well. Sat late afternoon or evening preferred - driving down from NorCal.
