  1. Thanks Forbush-Man. I'm not trying to impress here. Just introduce some other cross collecting material that is not usually seen by comic collectors. Hope you have fun! Everything in this thread is impressive.
  2. Thanks for the clarification Richard. I heard the story many years ago from Terry. Guess I got them mixed up. Sounds like something that would happen to Terry and David. Either way, a classic story! Got any good stories you can share? The stuff comes and goes but the back stories are what makes it fun!
  3. Oops, Sorry one more. Large Tin Bugs Bunny. I don't know who made it or what it's from. It was just sitting there begging me to take him home and I did.
  4. Last one for today. Got a request for Capt. Marvel. Here are a couple rare ones. The puzzle is English. Got it when I was overseas. The bag is also pretty hard to find. You see the Supermans from time to time, but not this one. Enjoy!
  5. I don't remember who asked for Rock 'N Roll stuff. But here is a nice 1967 San Francisco Avalon Ballroom New Years Eve poster. Great image! I've got a lot of these put they are put away right now. Enjoy!
  6. Next in line is Porcupine. I've got LOTS of old Felix stuff. Here is the picture of the large composition yellow figure. Also a cool red plaster carnival statue. I thought I also had the large black compo fig but guess It is gone. But, my favorite Felix item is the large curved glass, hand colored photo from the 1920's. My wife pointed it out to me at Brimfield one year. Probably one of a kind. Enjoy!
  7. Next up is for Griff: This is all I have for Don Winslow that you don't already have. I did forget that I had the DW Honor Coin as well. Will try and do that some other time. Enjoy!
  8. OK, made some promises and now I have to deliver. Ladies first. First up is for Sharon. The Sensation Comics pin and Valentine are from the '40's.The other pin is from a local LA library. Only the 2nd one I've seen. Not much WW stuff from the '40's. Only other thing I know of is the Infantile Parylisis postcard which I have never owned. Enjoy!
  9. Hi Cat. That ship puzzle is awsome. I love those early pieces. The printing is so vivid. My wife gets those from time to time (not like yours). The Marvel Mystery painting is breathtaking. It is one of my favorite MM covers. Is it a Schomburg recreation? I had to manup for a nice copy a few years ago. But, I've sure got a case of the Lil PP's now!
  10. Bang! Wow, welcome to my humble thread! Good to see you back here. You are part of the reason I am here. You inspired me to do this. In my humble opinion, your thread was by far the best thing on here. In the immortal words of James Brown "Please, Please, Please" show us some more of YOUR wonderful stuff!
  11. Speaking of stories, have any of you ever read the book "Between the Panels"? Hard to put it down. There is a story in in that Terry Stroud told me years ago. He and David T Alexander answered an ad in the newspaper about a guy with multiple ECs for sale. They drove over to guy's house in a sketchy part of LA and met him about 9:00 at night and rang the doorbell. An older fat guy answered the door drunk and naked! The guy invited them in. Terry said they had thoughts of getting stuck in a back room with a drunk guy with a knife or something. They discussed it and the lure of old funny books won out. So in they went. They checked out the books which were multiple copies of high grade ECs. They made the deal, scooped up the books, and hightailed it out the door... Check out this book. One of my favorite books on comics. Has another story by David T about a huge score of comics out of the Midwest. Also one about Malcom Willitts from Collectors Book Store buying an amazing collection of GA books. It was an amazing time to be a comic collector...
  12. That is one of the first GA books I ever got. I got it from a friend's dad who was a pawnbroker. I got about 25 books. I remember a beautiful All flash#16, a beautiful Batman #9 a Subby #6 and that one. There were a lot of others but it was a LONG time ago and I can't remember the others now. I had never seen books like that. Sadly, I traded them all away for ECs but still have that one. Congrats!
  13. Wow, that's a hard one. Kinda like what is your favorite book in your collection? I have already told you probably the most significant one in my intro. Manning up as A kid any paying Bert Blum 2 bucks for a MAD #9. Sounds insignificant now but that was the book that started me on this crazy journey. Yes, there are lots of stories, one in particular. But since you asked how about you give me one to get me motivated? I know you got some too. I believe you even shared a couple when you came on. You've got to give to get...
  14. Nothing wrong with that beater! Tough book. You can even read it on the can!
  15. Are these rare or scarce? How many issues in the Canada run? I have #3 and maybe #4
  16. Way to go! My kind of books. I've been looking to complete my Speeds and that one is close to the top of the list. Those 20's numbers are impossible to find in any shape. Wait until you open up that Four Favorites. It's got a Classic L B Cole Hitler story that is hard to top.
  17. Cool! Last one I need to complete my run of Mystery Tales. (figures it would be this one). I just never ran into one.
  18. Looks like it could be. Do you know when and where you got it? I never saw any of the bulk of the Friction House books. I did get a beater Fight #10 I believe. (the underwater one).
  19. Thought you guys might like this unusual Pulp item. It's an original 1950's photo from an unknown crime pulp or magazine. Love the dame's "bullet bra" and the fake bloodstain on the dead guy!
  20. Found a few more things in my photobucket that might be of interest: First up is a 1920's German Distler Wind-up Coupe with working headlights: Next is just a little newer. Cragstan, Japan 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner removable hard top, battery operated, car with original box. Early "remote control" car. Goes forward and back and steers. Also has a feature where the top opens and closes. I have since sold this red one but kept the blue one that I got at the same time. Any Yankee Baseball fans? Here is a scarce Roger Maris nodder from 1961. The year he broke the Bambino's record. How about an unknown 1950's Pulp Magazine original art photo. Got it from Terry Stroud years ago. Love the "bullet bra" on the dame and the guy's fake bloodstain! Picked this up for my wife who likes dolls. I like the radio advertising. So we are both happy. It's a die-cut store stand up counter piece from the late 1940's Bought this at the Brimfield MA flea market (google this show, it is amazing). Anyway, was there with a friend and this guy pulls in with a truck of old store stock from a general store. I got this and a tin Roy Rogers Marx horsetruck in the box. What blew me away was when I tried to open this it wouldn't open. My friend then exclaims "Dude, it's still stapled shut!". I got it home and wanted to open it soooo bad but re-considered. It's one of the rarest Marx playsets. Maybe the only one left sealed? It bugged me so bad, I finally sold it on ebay for a pile of money (which is long ago spent...) Last one for today. 1939 Art Deco Marx train set (complete and working): I believe my bucket has run dry so I will re-load it this weekend.
  21. If that was my place, my wife would kill me in my sleep and burn it. Funny thing is that you might actually know where everything is... One day I'll show you a pictures of "the closet". Yes...
  22. "You'll shoot yer eye out" Hi Marty! I've been following your thread for a while. Glad you are here and posting your stuff. I thought I was a "big cheese" buying the first Marvels at cover price!
  23. Nice Griff! I love the "checking copy" stamps. I've got a couple other Fawcetts, Mary Marvel I think with those stamps. Some may not like that but I love the providence!
