Comic Book Marketplace Memories
Robot Man replied to Ricksneatstuff's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Yes he did. It was amazing. I saw Danny’s collection once and I give a slight nod to Gary. Danny had more stuff, but Gary had better stuff. Harry Matesky also had an amazing collection but no comics to speak of. All 3 great guys and very passionate collectors. -

I’m with you. A lot of people are just jealous of Chuckle’s good fortune. At the time the collection was found and marketed, it was always referred to as the Mile High collection. No one really knew about Edgar Church. One look at one of these books and I didn’t care what they were called. You just knew these were probably the best copies on the planet and history has pretty much proven it in general. At this point, I refer to the collection as the Edgar Church/Mile High collection. Edgar should get top billing for having put it together in the first place and Mile High should get second billing for finding and saving these amazing books for us to marvel at for all this time. If not for lucky Chuck, these books may have never made their way into our collections...

“Pointing out the faults” is the oldest trick in the book. As if the seller doesn’t know it? I would tell you the price reflects the condition and if you want to do that dance. I would ask you what it would go for in better condition? If we are reasonably close, make me a fair realistic offer. You will probably get it with out the stupid “condition dance”. If you don’t like the price, the ball is in your court. The only time I might even consider shooting myself in the foot, is if I can live without the book or it isn’t a high demand book. But of course every pulls this with the “good stuff” or “keys”. That stuff I am more than willing to wait on.
