  1. Bring ‘em on Steve. We all love pulps in any grade and any title here. Welcome to the boards!
  2. Beautiful colors on a beautiful copy Corey. This is every bit as good as any of his romance covers. On a lot of Bakers, this is a unicorn grade wise.
  3. That’s the way I look at it. A great deal is a gift. Take it and say thanks. I have paid full price many times when the Gods smile down on me.
  4. I have seen a fair amount of these over the years and I’m pretty sure yours is the lowest number I’ve seen. Value wise it probably doesn’t make much difference to those who like and want one of these kits. Seems the pin is the toughest part to find and the most desirable piece of the kit. This kit and the 3 photos are the only fan club items produced by EC. I love the comics but these were a must have for me. I enjoy the heck out of mine. Great piece, and I would keep it if I were you.
  5. I think in general, lower grade Bakers have met a little price resistance lately. Still strong but prices seem to have stabilized. Considering that high grade ones are usually 6.5-8.0 for the most part. Nice looking 1.5-3.0 copies still sell well because sometimes that’s the best you can find. I have cooled off on them as well as LB Cole. I have a lot of them and am now just holding out on the few I really want. I’ve given up hope on a CL #25 unless I get lucky. Great book but my personal #2 Baker cover. You bid stiff on that TLP #11 but it is just one of those Baker standouts that everybody wants.
  6. Wow, small world and books sure get around. Got it from boardie dreamtoreal1 (Pablo) at a local comic meet up a couple weeks ago. Always liked it and have been seeing the prices really spike on it so so figured I’d better grab it while I could. It’s probably found a permanent home in my junk pile...
  7. Great book. I bought one years ago at what I thought at the time, was a pretty aggressive price. Ha, ha, ha... because it was great art and so suggestive.
  8. Wild horror books have been heavily collected since the dawn of fandom. The romance boom has for the most part been a more recent thing. Probably because of the lower prices. I have always loved the horror and crime books. So wild and over the top. It’s hard to believe kids could just buy them for s dime. It’s not just about the covers either. There are actually pages beyond those graphic covers with stories that are fun to read. I have loved Baker art long before he was so popular. But for the most part, romance stories leave me flat. The few romance books Ibuy are for covers mostly. You get a lot more bang for you dime with horror books.
  9. Very cool Mike. I had ‘em all at one time but they are all gone now. I think this title was probably bought by people who bought romance comics.
  10. You hit the nail right on the head with every point!
  11. I’m sure you would. Stand in line. It is a photo discovered many years ago by a well known comic dealer. He made a bunch of copies of it that have been floating around for years.
  12. I will never have every GA book I want. Pulps are just a “supplement” and always will be.
  13. Pedigree fever. As has been said, as nice as Yakimas are, they aren’t all the same uniform high grade like the Church books are. People love pedigrees and there are very few pulp ones I can think of. Yes, pulps have been gaining some steam lately. Compared to comics, pulps are a real bargain. Comics are VERY cover driven. There are more pulps with better covers than comics. The argument I get is that pulps are just text inside as apposed to illustrations. But when a comic is slabbed, it becomes the same as a pulp. So I still say: “If it were a comic book what would it be worth?”. Seems some are getting wise to this...
  14. An inherited collection is usually more of a burden than a legacy to most people. And once big dollars get mentioned, most people tend to get greedy. Buying from people like this can get very difficult and a lot of work. Explaining condition, market values ect usually ends up with a no sale. Why not donate it to an institution like a college or library if you want lovers of the medium? Nice tax deduction. But the lure of big money tends to change people’s views. Yes, PayPal by all means. Both parties get protection. The original poster did not mention the book. Is this something he cannot get anywhere else? Might be better to wait until he finds a seller with what he wants and can feel more comfortable with.
