  1. Glad to see this thread revived. So many awsome and beautiful books being shown. A humble guy like me can only live vicariously through you guys! And kind of funny, I look back on my original post and still see very little I would change. I guess if you really love some books they just stay with you...
  2. Stunning books and so refreshing to see them raw. A true collector and lover of the medium!
  3. Yep, there you go. I love getting little piles of GA books. Fun to figure out what they are. Often there are hidden surprises. The "Married" thread is a great place to post them. If you just want to sell them, the gay is a good place. Lots of people out there not on these boards search for parts. I'm often amazed what they can go for. A few months ago I sold an Action 15 just like yours for decent money. Somebody must have needed a centerfold...
  4. Got a nice email from the seller with an apology and an offer to make everything right. My apologies to him and everyone here for my rant. I will be leaving nice positive feed back for all 6 books. I still think eBay as a whole stinks though... Back to your regularly scheduled programming. Somebody please show some nice ECs for us to enjoy.
  5. Yeah, #59 (Headless horseman Halloween issue) is right there with it. So is #32 (Egyptian tomb) as is #64 (slot machine) and #69 (AEN Joker card hand). Heck, it is hard to find a bad Kelly Freas cover!
  6. I went there once when I was in town. I didn’t buy anything but the sheer magnitude and size of this store is incredible. Gotta be the biggest comic book store in the world. That alone is worth a visit!
  7. Even though I have not gotton any response from the seller, I filed just to get a shipping label. I never see any reason to have to pay for a seller’s own mistake. Both books are in the mail. I really think the professional thing to do when a mistake is made by a seller is to respond promptly and own it. I have had several cases where I have had to return books due to seller error or sloppyness. I have had everything from a snarky reply to none at all. My carefully thought out and accurate feedback is always left. Again, I’m not outting or condemning this seller. I have bought a good amount of books with no problem from him as I assume a lot of you have. I’m sure he is just busy and will do the right thing. But two out of 6 books is pretty bad. eBay, has just gotton to be so disappointing to me as both a buyer and a seller. I have never had any problem with the good boardies that do business here on the boards.
  8. That is true, but as has been said, third party books sell for more than raw, therefore worth more...
  9. eBay purchase. Sadly two of them have to go back... The WF16 was not the one I bought. I bought the later one and got this one by mistake. The Crypt 39 was graded fair-good because of a detached cover. I opened it up and it was water stained, rusty staples and MOLD! Not noted in description, nor shown in the photos. Some might call this “fair”, I call it disgusting and unacceptable. I bought these from a well known and respected seller that I have bought from several times in the past. I won’t put anybody because I am sure it will get taken care of. Just VERY disappointed and now have to deal with it because someone’s sloppyness. I’m not a big high grade buyer but this is an on going problem I have had with the bay in the past couple of years. When you have to return 25-30% of your purchases because of things like this, maybe it’s time to rethink where I get my books from. I thought I had mitigated it by buying from better sellers. In order to get my bids, a seller needs to provide a full description, including interior photos and have a solid return policy or I simply won’t go there. Very few people are “professional graders” but we all have eyes and are capable of describing and showing what our eyes see. Sorry for the rant...
  10. We have no one to blame for changing grading standards except our selves. We have collectibility lowered our standards to line our pockets and The grading companies have happily followed on for the same reason. And to even have a grading company do it in their own building is a bit shameful in my opinion. The market has spoken and probably isn’t done talking as long as short term profit over takes all.
  11. Big mail call today! Not to often I get this much EC goodness all at one time!
  12. I get you Fifties. We are a rare breed in this hobby. I’m not trying to be one of these “old guys” whining about the “old days”. Just an observation from many years of collecting. Comics have always gone up. I feel that they are rising a little fast for the good of the hobby. If we were selling, we would be laughing all the way to the bank. Luckily, I don’t need the money all that bad. Nor do I need that “quick Instagram thrill” to dump the books I love so much. Just gotton REAL hard to fill in those holes that I still need. At the end of the day, I really don’t NEED to do it unless the price is right. I don’t think I will live long enough to re-read all the great books I already have...
  13. It’s not just comics, it’s everything. I remember 50 cents a gallon gas, A new Mustang for $2500 and a nice 2 bedroom apartment by the beach for $150 a month. I was making $2 or $3 an hour. It’s all relative. I believe a lot of “rich folks” are just as broke as the rest of us just at a higher level. True comics have gone up in price on a slow and steady pace as long as I have been collecting. But they seem to be going up much faster than most other things. A high price paid today seems to be a steal a few months later. I attribute it to flippers trying to make a fast buck. Sadly, the thrill of making a quick profit seems to far out weigh the enjoyment of the book it’s self. A lot of the fun if this hobby has sadly left me...
  14. Nothing but the highest praise for the Axmen. Bought a book from me, paid quickly, and perfect communication. First class all the way!
  15. My wife sold a lot of Chinese antiques for stupid prices a few years ago at local shows. Now with the tartiff talk and a bit of a bumpy Asian economy, she has moved away from that market.
  16. Horrific #3 is one of my top 5 PCH covers! You have a nice green one Hap. Most as you know are for some reason fairly brown.
