  1. Wow, those are something unique and special!
  2. As you know, I’m with you Gino. Problem is, we are a shrinking breed of collectors and lovers of the medium. I don’t mind selling books here and there for a small profit to buy books I really want. Problem is, when high grade prices go up, lower grade prices go up even more. For every high grade buyer, there are 10 lower grade buyers that just want to own a copy. Trouble is, much of the stuff I want has finally reached the point for me that I can no longer justify the price I need to pay to obtain it. Thats OK though, I’ve been doing it a LONG time. So all I have to do is to open up a few boxes to enjoy all the great books I’ve put away over the years and feel sorry for the poor suckers that are paying up these days...
  3. True but at the same time, I know a lot of people who are being priced out of the hobby. The pool of deep pocketed spenders is shrinking. Sooner or later, some of these people will be stuck holding the bag.
  4. When I was 17 in the early ‘70’s I was praying that 50 cent per gallon gas would drop a little. (I was driving a ‘55 Chevy Coupe short block)...
  5. Come on now, doesn’t someone have that cool Jughead with the Creature swimming pool cover?
  6. OK ooops, guess that’s why I mostly collect GA now days. Got any cool covers to show???
  7. When you get as old as I am you might be lucky to just spell your own name right..,
  8. Haven’t seen him for several years. That’s too bad...
  9. I would also add Al Feldstein’s old “block style” sig. So classic.
  10. I like Steranko. First one is free. The rest are $5. Each with all money going to charity. A real talented gentleman and a hoot to be around especially if you are accompanied by a pretty woman...
  11. Bob and Jerry were real into monsters for a while. Even combined the Rock ‘n Roll and Hot Rod craze...
  12. I don’t buy a lot of Archie’s but had to have this one... Made me think that I had a few more in the junk pile. Show ‘em if you’ve got em!
  13. Hi Tia and welcome to the boards. I would suggest that you do some posting in groups and threads that interest you first. Build a track record and let us get to know you first. This is the best place to talk comics and learn stuff. The meet ups might come later.
  14. The Pirates did do spring training there in the ‘30’s as did a few other eastern teams. As you said, very rural and pretty well to do back then. The Angels used to do theirs in Palm Springs. As I unrolled this photo, the second guy in was Honus Wagner (as a coach). One of the first 5 inductees to the Hall of Fame. As I kept un-rolling, I spotted 4 other HOF players. Mind blowing surprise find! Sounds like you were in San Bernardino or Fontana. Both very rough areas and yes, home of the Mongols. The only time I’m out that way, is when I am passing through on to some where else...
  15. They came from a house in Colton,CA. (same area). One of the other dealers I buy from that are from that area had this one time. I about wet my pants as I slowly un-rolled it. They are not baseball fans...
  16. I just pile my pulps up in piles in a closet. If I'm feeling like I might have a good one, I use one of these...
  17. Nice book and yes, probably very rare and un-documented. Now rarity doesn't always translate to big bucks though. There has to be demand. I bet there are a few more un-documented DC publications out there. Here is one I have.
  18. Get him out of that funky frame. Lots of acid in that paper. I put mine in a mylar with a full back like a comic book. Fun find!
  19. Nice grabs Mike. I especially like the Canteen Kate. #2. Cover to cover Baker and a book that is just begging to be cracked. I did well on the bay last night too. I didn’t “win” anything but probably paid too much for 7 ECs from Comixs4Less. Can’t wait to get that package! There seems to be a lot of good stuff on the bay last night considering it was a holiday weekend...
  20. And these two toys came from the flea market. Got them from a lady that saves me stuff. Went from a plastic bin to my car as fast as I could whip out the cash. No one else ever saw them. They came from an old house in Riverside, CA. I know several dealers from that area and often get real cool stuff from them. Seems as though there are still a lot of old big houses still filled with stuff there. The are both large toys and from 1895-1910 era. VERY good prices and both real cool. I especially like the shooting gallery. Early Schonut toy with a black kid and Palmer Cox Brownies. Good thing I got them because the rest of the show was pretty much a waste of time...
  21. Had a good “junking” weekend. Comics came from a garage sale I just stopped by at random. I never find comics at garage sales. I bought all she had.
  22. I remember as a kid hitting the dumpster behind a liquor store the day after new comics came out. We usually found all the “stripped” cover returns in multiples. And if we were real lucky, we found Playboys and Penthouse. Since they were multiples, we had plenty of trade bait for comics from the other kids in the neighborhood. Believe me, we could get some good full cover Spider-Man’s and others for them. Worked out great until one of the kids got caught with one and ratted us out to my mom...
