  1. Picked this up at the Rose Bowl Flea Market yesterday. Nothing high grade or earth shaking but just a very random fan bound volume of comics all from the same time period. These are always just so surprising to find out in the wild. There are quite a few more in here, these are just random ones. Fun reading matter.
  2. Looks like you got all the good titles! Still need The Laughing Dragon of OZ.
  3. I have a lot more of the premium ones. Just picked them up when I found them. Some are pretty scarce. I have the ice cream ones as well as Pan Am Gasoline ones.
  4. I have a lower grade copy and am glad to have it. Just never see this one very often. And I used to have. WWII era Hitler push cushion but gave it to a friend as a present.
  5. Wow, cool! Been a while since I’ve seen books like that at an estate sale. Did you get all the comics or were there more? Any deals? We need the back story...
  6. Tightly organized. I only collect GA so I don’t want to wade through other eras only to find nothing. You better have some eye candy for me or I just pass you up...
  7. My first one was #2. Was shocked to see how much old comics were worth! I’d been collecting for a few years but never paid much more than maybe $2.-$3. For any if they were “old” or MADs I needed for my collection. I remember going to small Elks club or church basement comic shows, early SDCC and seeing GA books just laying in piles, un-bagged on tables or under a plastic sheet. The big superhero books were pricey to me. Barks Ducks and ECs as well. Usually $3-5 for horror and $5-7 for sci-fi. Under the tables were unbagged books for usually a buck apiece. I scoured these boxes grabbing PCH, Crime, Sci-Fi and “weird” books like Rulah, Seven Seas and Avons. Didn’t know much about them but they sure were cool! My $25 bucks went a long way when I spent the show on my knees. On the tables were early books like Prince Valiant, Tarzan and Flash Gordon priced the same as Batman, Submariner and Action. They were highly prized at the time. Sadly, there just isn’t much market for them now. Sure glad I bought so many “dollar” books under the tables and hung on to them!
  8. Was giving the mongrels a walk this morning and just by chance hit a local garage sale. Found a small stack of 10 cent cover price comics from around 1960. Unusual to find in my neighborhood. Usual suspects, Looney Tunes, Archie, Ritchie Rich, a couple of minor DC superhero ect. Paid $20. For about 25 or so comics. Most will be given away to kids. But these three are keepers! How weird are these?
  9. The Chitty, Journey into Center of the earth and the Hanna Barbera ones sell pretty well too.
  10. 10 bucks to “cancel” your lottery parking tickets? This is just one of the many reasons I have to stop going to this “Comic Con”...
  11. Sold a book to Peter. Prompt payment and great communication! VERY Recomended board member! Thanks!
  12. This thread has been a little slow. Here is a weird 1958 MAD ripoff item. Man, there are a million pieces. It is based on the Advertising business and is a lot of fun when you figure out how to play it...
  13. When I was in Europe many moons ago as a young hippie, we stayed in some real sketchy Paris hotels. No peeing in the sink but you had to go down the hall to hit the rest room. Real funky but when you had no money... And, best time of my life!
  14. Chuckles would rather not sell his comics. He loves claiming he has the biggest stash of comics in the world. Quite the tale of a guy that rose up with nothing I guess. How for the life of me I have a hard time understanding how he stays in business. Maybe a lot of out of country customers? But he still around and doing well...
  15. You are missing all those great Kelly Freas covers? The Golden Age of MAD my friends...
  16. EC war is always top of the heap to me. DC is a close second. In addition to Enemy Ace, the Unknown Soldier is always a great read.
  17. Thanks for mentioning this. I will never forget D Day. My uncle survived the second round. He rarely talked about it. I know it had a profound affect on the rest of his life. Sadly, it has just become a near forgotton footnote in American history...
  18. Presents so nice "in the bag"! Make no excuses Raze, what a great book for the price. Everything you really want is there and it looks nice. I agree, the war books get very little love but are some of the best art and stories in the EC line. I love reading them. I'm just down to a couple to finish of the EC war run.
  19. Big Little Books might be making a little upsurge again for the right price. I have always liked them. Other than a few, never really sought them out specificaly but have bought quite a few over the years if in real nice shape and priced cheap. The All Picture ones are my favorite, Just like a little comic book you can hold in your hand. Problem is other than just few few, there are very few real superheroes in them. But a very wide selection of titles and the spines look so cool lined up on a book shelf.
  20. Yeah, one of the weirdest covers I've seen for sure. Just wonder what the dame is for...
