  1. Thanks for mentioning this. I will never forget D Day. My uncle survived the second round. He rarely talked about it. I know it had a profound affect on the rest of his life. Sadly, it has just become a near forgotton footnote in American history...
  2. Presents so nice "in the bag"! Make no excuses Raze, what a great book for the price. Everything you really want is there and it looks nice. I agree, the war books get very little love but are some of the best art and stories in the EC line. I love reading them. I'm just down to a couple to finish of the EC war run.
  3. Big Little Books might be making a little upsurge again for the right price. I have always liked them. Other than a few, never really sought them out specificaly but have bought quite a few over the years if in real nice shape and priced cheap. The All Picture ones are my favorite, Just like a little comic book you can hold in your hand. Problem is other than just few few, there are very few real superheroes in them. But a very wide selection of titles and the spines look so cool lined up on a book shelf.
  4. Yeah, one of the weirdest covers I've seen for sure. Just wonder what the dame is for...
  5. OK anytime with me. Pretty soon, you will be changing your name to GOLD I suspect...
  6. I went with my grandmother. She was a true antique collector. Probably where I got my collecting gene. She would buy me old comics when we found them. She was happy to see me excited and instilled the "thrill of the hunt" in me. I miss her, great lady and we had some fun times...
  7. Classic in a sickening way. Damn I hate them. Brittle and rat chews are just something I won't do...
  8. This hobo has been saying it for 45 years. Up to now, I’ve been wrong. I do see corrections and resistance. Those with easy to get books in 9.8 will be left holding the bag...
  9. How would you know in a slab? Heck it could even have white blank pages...
  10. Not comics but was lucky at the Flea Market on Sunday...
  11. Picked these up at the Flea Market on Sunday. Love the green Argosy baseball cover! There is an older guy that often brings a box of random pulps to this show. He always keeps them in the truck until I get there...
  12. Just came in. Bloody Japanese flyer cover by Schomburg from 1943.
  13. Picked this one up right here on the boards. Pretty cool huh? Maybe it’s time for me to do a “hot for nurse” subset...
  14. Picked this up from Brad Sloan of F-VF comics on Sunday. It didn't sink in until I got home and looked again that it might be a pedigree. Are "Eldon" books considered official pedigrees by CGC?
  15. There are obviously more than one copy of Church books. I have this Jumbo #155 that I bought directly from Chuckles right when he brought the collection to market at Casual Con in Anaheim. I was into censhorship books and this one was a Parade of Pleasure entry. I noticed that there was a Chuch copy already on the census a few years ago. I KNOW mine is legit but have no idea about the other one. Mine is yet to be entoumbed.
  16. I collect mostly GA so one cannot be too picky condition wise. My collection runs the entire gamut condition wise but that is my “sweet spot”...
  17. I almost always have a small pile of comics on the dining room table. New finds to process and read. They don’t stay long but usually get replaced with a new batch. As long as I remove them when people come over, she is cool.
  18. It’s all about ego and bragging rights. I would be willing to bet most people couldn’t tell the difference between a 9.6 and a 9.8 out of the slab. CGC is making a killing off our egos. I like raw books in the 7-9 range. Books I can actually read and present great. I couldn’t care less what others think and my wallet is a lot happier...
  19. Nice run Mike I’m still needing a #2 to be complete. And mine are no where as nice as yours. A challenging little run in any grade.
  20. I wonder what a nice mid grade issue with three first issues and one second issue would go for... I guess it might not matter since all most people get to see or care about is the cover. And, I will probably never know because my kids will be sending to auction after I’m pushing up daises...
  21. That Jumbo is one of my favorites!
  22. Seemed like a decent buying crowd. Dealers said they were doing OK. Even the older guy said he sold a lot of Big Little Books! Was glad I didn’t see a lot of Moderns. I mostly have GA/SA. Depending on the day, I might give it a try in Sept. PCC was a bust comic wise. Haven’t found many for quite a while. Neither has anybody else I know of. I guess you never know though. Luckily, I look for a lot of other stuff as well.
