Sorry, meant to come back to this yesterday but work just kind of blew up. I was born over the weekend, so I'm a little torn between what was on the shelf already (first week in Sept) or what hit the shelves right after (second week), but am leaning more towards the first week. Mainly just the Marvel and DCs; I'm less interested in the indies. I checked out the Mike's Amazing World link and it looks like that could work, I just need to click through each book in that month to check the on sale date (it lists them on the individual book's page). Thanks for the help!

What year are you looking for? It will be easy to track down which Marvels and DCs were distributed which week but the indys could vary depending what distributor a store used. Glenwood might distribute a Comico book one week, and Capital would release it a week later. At one point, there were about a dozen big distributors and dozens of sub-distributors and most used trucks. Then some switched to planes and the rush to be the first to the stands was on.

Hi all,
Does anyone know of a site that lists what comics hit the shelves on a particular week years ago (like the 80s)? I've been tossing around the idea of a side goal of collecting all the books that hit the shelf the week I was born. I tried searching around online, but I couldn't find any lists/schedules older than 4ish years ago.

Oh wow, that's great! Just the sort of oddball stuff I like.
Same! This is going right into my "random X-Men stuff" collection.

It's plastic, so it counts! Picture of the box only showed it from one side (front), which didn't give a sense of the damage to the back (that, or it got a bit trashed in shipping). And it doesn't have the coupon book or sticker sheet that it came with originally (no idea how/if I'll be able to separately source those...). But still, the price was right.

13th place! That's probably the highest I'll ever see on these rankings

Ahha! I don't own any other Whitmans and hadn't actively sought them out in the past, so I had no idea what distinguished them from others. Sweet, good to know. Thanks!

Now that I finally signed up for CLZ and copied my personal DB there, I was going through my UXMs to note which were newsstand and which were direct...and realized I have no idea what's going on with this issue of UXM #118. I can't find any info on a variant for this issue (it's pre-newsstand/direct distinction...the only "variant" I can find is a British Pence edition, which this clearly isn't), and so I have no idea why the UPC is blank and the price box and upper right corner boxes are different. Does anyone here know anything about this?
Normal cover, for comparison--

Thanks for the opinions! Yeah, it's more of a curiosity really; I didn't buy it specifically for the signature. It's a folder of the Marvel First Quarter Report 1993, I got it because the outside front and back look like uncut card sheets, with the front having 3 X-Men along the center row and the back being all X-Force (Fleer sets). Finding the sig (which is inside, yeah) was just a bonus.

Sigh, that's kind of what I was hoping wouldn't be the case. Still, is there any way to view the CLZ Core? That would at least let me match what I have to what's in their system.

I use CLZ but don't know which DB they use, but if I were them I'd be using MySQL since it's open source.
Sorry, that wasn't what I meant. What I meant was, does anyone know where is CLZ getting its comic information from? Like, what comicspriceguide labels as the numbering for a particular variant isn't what CLZ is referring to it as, and I'm trying to figure out where CLZ is getting its series name/issue numbering information from so that I can match the data in my Excel up to it. My issue isn't field mapping, it's finding out what they call, like, the Wizard edition of X-Men 1/2, or the Dynamic Forces version of UXM 560, or the FCBD edition of Suicide Squad: King Shark, things like that, so that I can match everything up and import it in smoothly.
Does that make sense?

I've decided to go back to my Michael Moorcock/Eternal Champion Sequence read-through, after getting abandoning it a few years ago when I reached Mother London (I just...absolutely could not get through that book. At all. And I hate not finishing books). Skipping that and re-starting with the next book, King of the City...which...is not going very well either, lol.

Hi all,
I currently have all of my comics tracked in my own Excel sheet, mainly using comicspriceguide.com for specific title naming and variant numbering. I'm looking at getting CLZ (probably the desktop program and app) and copying my DB there, to have it be more accessible while at cons/stores.
I did the free trial period for each to try them out, but found that a huge chunk of what's listed in my Excel was coming out wrong going into CLZ...some instances could be fixed by pointing CLZ to the right book, but in a lot of instances, it wasn't even letting me do that, or search in any way for what it was supposed to be. (And it wasn't all variants...I couldn't get it to recognize my Saga of the Swamp Thing #37, and I have no idea why it wasn't registering that book right.) For 99% of the entries that it wasn't recognizing out of my Excel, I couldn't figure out any way to pinpoint it to the correct title/book/variant.
That brings me to my question...can someone point me to whatever CLZ uses as an underlying database? Like, whatever it checks to pull book info from to list it in their DB? I'm willing to put in the time in my Excel sheet to tweak the titles/numbering so that it flows better into CLZ (and then fix one-offs after that), but I don't know what it's pulling from to know what to renumber my variants as, for example, or to specify book titles that it wasn't recognizing.
Thanks in advance!

Anyone else have this first world problem?
I got a great deal on Vol 2 last year from CGN's "Nick and Dent" Sale. Then I saw a good price last week from Amazon for Vol 1. It said it was the 2020 printing, and therefore it would have matched the spine format of my Vol 2. Made sense, as the latest reprinting of Vol 1 at CGN was only supposed to be available starting Feb 2. But clearly Amazon got an early shipment in, since what arrived yesterday (the top book above, still in shrinkwrap) is the latest printing, the newest format.
I've started a Wanted to Trade thread here to see if anyone wants to swap out Volumes 1. I'm wondering though if this is a big enough problem with a large enough community who have one version of some omni, but want a different version to match what they have on the shelf? Would it make sense to ask for a sticky thread in the WTB section where people could post what they have / what they want?
Ugh...this has me concerned. And already annoyed. I pre-ordered the new printings from CGN for X-Men Omnibuses v1-2 and Uncanny v1-3 (and ordered a v4, which was still in print) back in like, July. So far, I've gotten Uncanny vol. 2-4 (2-3 just arriving yesterday)...and my vol. 2 is like you're vol. 1 (while my vol. 3-4 are like your vol. 2, the better spine). Now I'm dreading that Uncanny vol. 1 is going to come back the same as my vol. 2 with the smaller spine font...and who knows with the X-Mens. My shelf is just gonna be all over the place

My core collecting is Uncanny X-Men and X-related...
I'd say my #1 grail outside of that would be Adventure Comics #247. I always enjoyed the Legion...
