  1. I press books -- mostly for myself, but have pressed for others. A lot of collectors hand me a very nice modern book and want it pressed -- they are shocked if the book does not come back as 9.8. Or someone hands me a book and says, "This is a 9.2. You should be able to get it to a 9.6". Really?! Grading is subjective. However, take a silver or copper age book that has been in a box for years -- give it a nice press and they have tears of joy --> taking a 5.5 to 7.5 is significantly easier (and more gratifying) then taking a 9.0 and making it a 9.4. As odd as this sounds -- pressed books always look better. They might has so many unpressable errors that the grade will not bump, but they will look better pressed.
  2. Thanks -- it's the 3x shipping that I am trying to avoid. I will just be keeping it simple.... a stack of 25 at a time... for now. I appreciate it!
  3. Hope this makes sense -- if you submitted the book 10 times 9.2 - 5x 9.4 - 4x 9.6 - 1x Really depends on how the smudge is judged on the front cover -- nice book!
  4. It has been a while since I have re-newed my membership. I have way too many books that need to be submitted and I just need to start getting it done. I have a variety of books that I would like to get graded, all eras -- Modern / Copper, Silver, few Gold, and magazine. I'd like to ask the community what is the best strategy to be the most effiecient --> cost over speed. I am not wanting to wait 6 months for books, but I don't want expeditited services to save a few days. Hope this makes sense, but was hoping for some feedback / opinions on the following: 1. Is there an optimal number of books to ship at one time (I am speaking mostly for the Modern and Vintage tiers)? 5 / 10 / 50 / 100? 2. I am assuming that it is best to ship all the same tier together, but wanted to ask? 3. Can you specify a single book in the submission for pre-grading? If I had 10 books and one of them was a crusty Hulk #181, could I ask for the pre-grade on only that #181 or is it applied to the whole shipment? 4. Same question as #3, expect for pressing services ? 5. How are books that are on the border of $400 handled? Some books are only worth $400 after they are graded and if they are high enough --> would I get a call and someone say "This book is a $500 and we have charge."? Thanks in advance -- sorry for ramble. I have procrastinating long enough -- got too many books and need to get them slabbed.

  6. BTW -- eBay has a glich -- on a couple of the auctions the first photo is a "stock image". CANNOT remove it -- ugh! Go to the second photos and you'll see the real books.

  8. I just heard the news of his passing on NPR. Tells you his impact when it makes national news. Just sad.
  9. The inside picture looks a little odd. Is that a tear? Is the green ink bleeding through to outside? Nice book. Congrats on the get!
  10. I think I am seeing some small color breaks on the spine....here's my guess. With pressing --> 9.2 (1:10) or 9.0/8.5 (50:50). The corners look awesome, just think you'll get dinged on the spine.
  11. I have a couple of books that I'm offering up. If you have any questions please PM me. I have not sold a lot here, but please see my eBay feedback --> look for redgar-atx. First gets the book over any PM. Payment by PayPal. Shipping is FREE within the continental United States. I am OCD on shipping and packing. I will take returns up to 10 days after PP transaction, you will have to pay for the return. The WWBN 32 is a one-owner comic, I bought this at the age of 12. The Thor is pristine. Both are newly slabbed and the cases are flawless. Thanks for looking! Roger WWBN #32 -- $825 $795.00 $775.00 Thor #225 CGC 9.6 -- $325 $295.00 $275.00 Thanks again for looking!
  12. It looks to me like a 7.5-8.0. The bottom corner is the biggest issue. IMHO
  13. I have a Seal 210-MX. Very happy with it. I looked on Craigslist for about 8 months.
  14. sigh....did not take one. I did it for a friend. ugh - bush league.
  15. I have graded 2 1997 Deadpools. One SS 9.6 and the other 9.8. There are a lot out there. These books seems to grade high, when you find the right one. If you are patient -- I would be on the look out for another candidate.
  16. I like pressing. I am biased that way. I think your book will present better and get a bump or two in the grading. Hero Restoration is very good.
  17. I don't think this is a "double cover" like rarity. I think it is a printing error that does not get penalized in grading. IMHO.
  18. I would see what it looked like after dry cleaning and pressing -- I would think it would be in the 8.0 range. Maybe I'm too generous, but it is a nice looking book.
  19. Fineas -- I think you are at a 6.5 - 7.0. It could bump to a 7.5 if the grader is having a good day. The pages are very nice. Bummer about the rip.
