  1. Underworld #3 4.5 Adventure Comics #256 6.0 Spidey #54 9.4 Iron Man #55 7.5 New Mutants #98 9.6 Started off very slow (I don't have a lot of experience with GA books), but got 3 bulls on this round. 4 points.
  2. thank you everyone. i bought this advertised on the boards as a VG, so right in line with what I thought.
  3. My bad, i thought you were just being flippant. LOL
  4. Nice observations. Didn't see the parallels there as I was watching it.
  5. True it's not a straight adaptation, but many of the key scenes, the dialogue is lifted right from the comics. I guess they feel they couldn't improve on perfection.
  6. I liked the show along with the rest of the Marvel Netflix shows, with maybe the exception of Iron Fist. As someone here mentioned, he's the Punisher, he kills people, it's violent. And I never liked the comics ever... I probably bought less than 10 issues in my life. I'm not sure why I even have ASM129, since I never cared for the character.
  7. Not sure if anyone else was doing this, but I have read Sandman so many times in my youth, that I started saying the character's lines before they would speak it. After a few episodes, I noticed the dialogue was almost exactly as the comic, if not damn near close. Normally, I would say this makes it predictable, but Sandman is basically near perfect, so why change a lot of the writing?
  8. I don't think they should even make a sequel to the first Joker, let alone a third. Really, it would be very very difficult to top the first one. At least if it's a so called musical, I can trick the wife into going, saying its a musical with Lady Gaga.
  9. I really think a straight up adaption would not work. People well familiar with the comics would get bored and/or nitpick it to death. Also, there's far too much material to be faithful, what if the show never gets past a few years? Better to adapt it to some extent, change things up a bit and try to appeal to a bigger demographic besides just comic nerds.
  10. Totally agree. Buying from some dude on ebay who can go back and change orders on the fly is completely different than a large company, who presumably has a complicated fulfillment process. Besides, as a seller, I can sympathize with this to some extent. I would just eat the $8; it's not life altering.
  11. Most of the CW stuff is garbage. I couldn't watch it to be honest.
  12. Bean counters and tax advantages aside, you have to feel bad for the cast, crew and writers. You devote years of your life to putting out a great product and then the studio heads just up and cancel it for "tax purposes". You can make a case that it's not even a fair assessment, since they didn't go to post production and still could do reshoots and such.
  13. Well to be fair, this sounds like it was during the day, which draws less crowd than evening showings. Also, I never buy tickets at the box office anymore. I buy it through Fandango or Atom, reserved seating. Then I just stroll at my leisure and get my seats. To me, streaming and online will never beat a theater. I don't have the capability to match the experience at the theater. Maybe if I could have a dedicated theater room with reclining seats and the best AV technology, but even then I wouldn't be able to catch first run movies when they hit.
  14. They're merging HBO and Discover because they are realize they are losing the streaming war. HBO went all out in putting original content, but they have no idea how to create an overarching narrative, much less a long term plan. Disney knew this, mapped it out from the start and had the right guy in place to execute it. In a way, they have that in their Star Wars universe as well, as it seems like Favreau/ Filoni have that role. There's probably more consolidation to come. Consumers won't subscribe to more than a few streaming services. I myself have Netflix, Disney, Hulu and Prime. I had HBO for one month to watch Swamp Thing, so really didn't even pay for that, since it was the free introductory month. If you can't get a die hard comics fan to subscribe to HBO Max, how do you expect everyday joe blow to pay up? I predict they'll blow up their 10 year plan in year 6 or 7. They'll probably try to tweak it along the way, but they'll have to concede and blow it up and start all over again. Ad infititum. I hope DC/ Warner/ Discover proves me wrong. But I woudn't bet on it.
  15. To me, you have to take an objective look at the first film. I watched that as a teenager. I was easily impressed by many things. They did a lot of innovative techniques then, and the concept was brand new, I'll give it that. Don't get me a wrong it's a great movie, but really how do you out do it. But they had a difficult job here to bring a fresh perspective to a franchise that is like 40 years old and has not really done much since the first movie. I think they've done that, hitting it out of the park.
  16. I wish they could do a part-reboot and do Prometheus 2. Alien Convenant wasn't a very good Aliens or Prometheus movie. I had such high hopes that Prometheus was going in a different direction but they just went back to rehashing Aliens.
  17. They are saying 10 year plan. Knowing how inept Warner and DC is, it will probably take 15 years to get to the culmination of a live action event such as Justice League or Infinity War type event. By that point, I'll be retired and hopefully sold off my collection. Most of the fans now that lovingly follow comic movies are probably in the same demographic. These guys really have no clue and no idea on how to redo anything.
  18. I actually forgot that Sandman was released last night. I went to watch Prey first and then remembered about it. I was worried that I would disappointed given how much I liked Prey, but luckily it's not the case. Can't wait to watch the rest!
  19. Actually, I do want to go back and watch Predator 2, 3 and Predators. I actually liked Predators (the one with Adrien Brody) but don't remember a whole lot about it. Apparently was referenced in A DECADE OF DARK HORSE 1, so I'll have to track that down as well. Nice callbacks to previous references.
  20. Sorry but this movie ranks among the elite that have outdone their predecessors: Prey Empire Strikes Back Aliens Terminator 2 Anchorman 2 (just kidding, wanted to see if anyone is reading this)
  21. Absolutely. I like the fact they took the Predator mythos and dropped in a completely different era and culture. I'd love to see them do that maybe in the future or an alien planet, but that might too ambitious. Maybe as an animated series?
  22. I think McFarlane is a bit of a control freak. It's great in some ways, not so in others. If you look at his toy lines, he's introduced incredible detail and realism. His Sportspicks line were amazing at the time; no one ever saw sculpts and realism like that before. However, there's virtually no poseability or articulation. Same for his DC and Spawn licenses now. The sculpts and detail are great but there is something fundamentally lacking with those toys; playability. The articulation is not very functional. There's very limited range of motion and sometimes they're in some unnatural pose which hinders poseability. Also, he rarely reuses parts so you can't customize the figures easily. Whereas, Hasbro reuses many of the same parts so you can generally easily switch hands, accessories and especially heads to create new versions of figures you want. How does this relate to his movie making venture? He may be so fixated on doing things exactly how he wants that he loses sight of what makes a movie successful. Whereas a proven producer and/or director knows this and is willing to compromise in order to get the best product, in light of all other factors.
  23. Only saw Episode 1 so far. Loved it, thought they nailed the first episode.
  24. Dare I say it, I like this better than Predator 1. Yes, it's that good.
