  1. Having the book authenticated would open him up to fraud...makes perfect sense. In other news...
  2. Bah, just make the switch to the vernacular units: $1 = bone $100 = bill $1000 = stack Just don’t mix them up. “I’ll give you 2 bones for that X-Force 1” will leave you a lot richer than “I’ll give you 2 stacks for that X-Force 1”.
  3. S-K-A-M. Such a scam that it doesn’t deserve proper spelling.
  4. Hopefully your friend declined to participate in the transaction, sounds like the "buyer" was either planning on using a hacked PayPal account to pay or was going to attempt a chargeback in relatively short order. I'd guess the former as paying outside of eBay would void eBay's seller "protection" (for whatever that's worth) as well as avoid the verification of the eBay and PayPal accounts actually being linked. Definite scam.
  5. "Does read minor restoration but still blue label" Still pretty disingenuous on the seller's part, especially since he's seeking blue label money.
  6. Yep, I think he paid like $40 for an alleged SS 9.8 ASM 252.
  7. You can see the crease in the back cover. Good chance it would also press out.
  8. A bad joke on the industry. You pay them 12 bucks or so, and they put the equivalent of a smiley face on your book to tell you it looks pretty.
  9. "CVA's proprietary, tamper-evident holographic sticker provides assurance that the comic book you own has met our strict standards for outstanding eye appeal and superior structure within the numerical grade assigned by CGC. CVA's distinctive sticker allows collectors, dealers and investors, with any level of experience, to easily identify these premium-quality examples in any grade. A CVA endorsement adds value for anyone interested in the CGC graded comic book market, buyers and sellers alike." I think Butters once came up with a similar criteria...
  10. We're reaching for the politeness scale to find a difference? Fine, in that regard I'll grant you that the other guys' politeness is superior to Currently Verifying Anything.
  11. Both are telling you the exact same thing. Both are hype.
  12. A CVA sticker is applied once you've paid your $12.95...I mean, only after the book is reviewed through the case. Meaning the cover looks nice for the grade. They have no idea if its "superior" for the grade since the inside could be a mess. A check mark says the cover looks nice for the grade, but there might be some shirt going on inside the book. In either case, dear consumer, buy/look-up the notes if you'd like to know more. Same shirt, different display method.
  13. The other guys already make their grader's notes free to anyone, do you really think anyone who already can't be bothered to take 2 minutes to look them up is going to be swayed by a check mark on the label?
  14. Just send it to PGX, they'll give it a 9.8. And they'll label it with an authenticated Steve Ditko signature for good measure.
  15. I didn't even realize the other guys had their own in-house CVA. Just more nonsense for the market. "Oh sure we only gave it a 6.0, but its a really nice 6.0! Don't be mad at us. "
  16. The pause button also helps when you're having beers during the movie. I always end up missing a few minutes in the theater.
  17. The last movie I saw in the theater was Rise of Skywalker, so that pretty much had ruined me on movie theaters anyway. Kidding, just need to dog that tripe whenever possible. I would go back for a flick that I’d really like to see. I personally don’t worry much about the COVID for myself, but I still follow all mask and distance guidelines out of respect for those who are worried (it’s really not that difficult all you nay sayers out there ). Plus I guess I’m used to being around dim wits anyway, attend enough cons and you get that way.
