  1. At a quick glance, it seems to me the only place Adyen will supposedly save merchants any kind of significant money is if payments are made using ACH: Adyen: https://www.adyen.com/pricing/full-list PayPal: 2.9% + $0.30, regardless of payment method This is assuming Adyen's interchange++ works out to roughly 2.9% (wonder if it could end up being higher though...).
  2. Any of these folks ring a bell as eBay insiders? https://www.adyen.com/about The company is privately held and based in the Netherlands, so even if eBay owns a stake I don't think Adyen would have to divulge that information.
  3. Well eBay's announcement has managed to drop PayPal's stock 6ish% today. And when you think about it, this upcoming Adyen switch really fits into their business model of screwing everyone they do business with.
  4. The dice giveth, and the dice taketh. Sometimes, you just gotta avoid the urge to plop your chips down on the pass line.
  5. Probably not, having a totally idiotic opinion isn't fraud.
  6. It's probably been said before in this thread, but IMHO no copy of this book should make a 9.8. The production defect is too profound. Plus, it would stop me from buying copies out of the $1 bins, getting my hopes up that I finally found "the" copy, and getting a 9.4 or 9.6 in return. You suck Wolverine 35!
  7. I had a look at the completed Hulk 181, Hulk 5, and All-Star 58 as well as the currently running X-Men 94. If it is Kaftor, it doesn't appear he's gotten back into bid shilling on eBay (not yet anyway, who knows what the future holds).
  8. What, the masterpiece that was "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" didn't do the trick for you?
  9. I know I'm sleeping good after taking OP's advice...
  10. Taking a page from The Simpsons, I recommend a financial panther -- "Mr. Smith, your file books are two months overdue. Get him Sheeba!"
  11. My final thoughts to him on the matter: "Sorry, but pictures can and do lie, and your photos paint a starkly different picture than Heritage's. While theirs appear to have been generated by a hi-res scanner, yours appear to have originated from a phone or digital camera and were then fed through any number of commonly available distortion effect filters. Again, best of luck to you, but any experienced collector is going to see right through your listing."
  12. Well he added some photos of Heritage's supposedly awful 9.4 to his own eBay listing. It is the same book I referenced, however his photos have been thoroughly manipulated to overexpose or invent extra flaws.
  13. Well then, I guess the real question is...will he add the photo of himself with the porn 'stache and the leopard drawers to his listings to try and drum up some bids?
  14. Well here he goes again (emphasis added by me): "It had rusty staples the ink was bleeding through the front cover I’ll send you them image i went there in person the book was awful! I would never own a book with rusty staples the rust will get worse not better and destroy the paper as it’s spreads! My book is beauftul condition the small color pull/scrape on the leg doesn’t bother be at all! The book blows away the one with rusty staples graded at 9.4"
  15. OK, I went for it. Without the help of my favorite soda no less. - Me: So in you're grading opinion, the only flaw on this book is the front cover damage along Spider-Man's leg? - Homeboy: That’s the reason the book was down graded from at Cgc 8.0 this book was most likely a file copy with a publishers glued on the cover. The former owner removed it thinking it work improve the condition of the book! - Me: Making sure I understand - this book used to be a legitimate, actually graded by CGC, 8.0 when the sticker was still attached to it? Despite the excessive amount of spine wear and color breaking creases which are easily visible in your photos of the front cover? - Homeboy: Heritage had a Cgc 9.4 with rusty staples spike Wear and marvel chipping last auction that’s sold for 0vet $114k as I recall! I saw the book in person and the ink from the first page was showing through the cover! At best it was should of be graded at 3.5 ! I have no idea if this book was graded before! It’s my opinion that the book is a far better grade then Cgc had graded it - Me: Interesting...because the most recent CGC 9.4 copy showing as sold on their website doesn't show any of those defects. Maybe it should've been a 9.2 with some of those spine stresses, but a 3.5 is simply absurd. (This is the Heritage book I reference btw -- https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/the-amazing-spider-man-1-marvel-1963-cgc-nm-94-off-white-to-white-pages/a/7169-91011.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515) ---Will he respond?? Oh, and what is "spike wear"?---
  16. You guys should team up with my new collector’s support group - People Excessively Needing Inspection Services.
  17. 1999 - Man, who wants to own a book in a picture frame? (Wolverine 145 had just thrown me back into collecting in earnest) 2000 - Hey, you know...if I'm planning to buy a top grade book and not read it and store it for the future...maybe this "CGC" isn't such a bad idea... (First purchase, Wolverine LS 3 in 9.8 - now a triple signed SS 9.8) 2011 - I haven't bought a book in like two years! Stupid trip to Afghanistan! Hey, what the (bleep) is this Signature Series thing??? (Yellow labels, bah! Like I'm going to take a whopping five minutes to research THAT...) 2012 - Wait, why not have a bunch of my favorite books signed by their writers and/or artists?!? Brilliant! (I went a tad bit overboard at first, but have reached a happy medium)
  18. If I ever bought a book with a CVA sticker affixed to it, the first thing I would do is have it re-holdered.
  19. Yes indeed -- http://comicswatcher.com/top-15-comic-book-sales-august-2014/amazing-fantasy-15-comic-book-sold-for-41000/
  20. It would appear sale #1 fell through: https://www.ebay.com/itm/amazing-spiderman-129-featuring-the-punisher-graded-9-4-REPRINT-/253387287156
  21. Worst comic seller alive, or someone looking to run a quick scamola. The latter seems more likely.
  22. One minor point - did Middleton show up for the signing date as planned (if so, yes a year is too long), or was it kicked down the road a bit? Cancellations do happen.
