  1. RYesterday's arrival: There were several slightly cheaper copies on eBay, but the perfect centering (might not look it with my photography skills being slightly askew) on this copy inspired my to pony up a few extra Hamilton's. Sure it's the first Rocket comic book appearance, but the small bit of dialogue between the two also makes me laugh. Reminds me of all those times Hulk calls Wolverine "the little man".
  2. I foresee a 3.5 in the mix...
  3. Not wasting your time is certainly fair, but (bleep) their time. The denial of affiliation to pristine smacks of a scamola.
  4. I believe I heard it had some random name written on the cover too...
  5. Technically "late last week in my collection", my second GA Detective addition: In a series called "Detective Comics", Scotland Yard teams up with Batman & Robin...yeah I got a kick out of it.
  6. There's a thread about these clowns in Comics General. A large portion of their CGC books are also listed on eBay by seller pristinecomics-pristineccg, for roughly half the asking price at hollywoodmemorabilia. I don't know if anyone ever figured out what the connection is between the two though. Here it is:
  7. Looks like he changed his eBay ID (not shady at all for a four feedback member...). Click on n***a and the ensuing bidding details page will show e***a. I got a kick out of his negative that he "mistakenly bid" (7 times according to the bid history).
  8. Here's a better question -- what would be YOUR reason for submitting it? As several others have pointed out, you'd be losing money submitting this book in the immediate term but might manage to make (literally) a few dollars far down the road just based on inflation. But does this particular issue hold some special place in your heart where don't mind being in the red? Or are just trying to score a good eBay bargain (which is absolutely possible, but requires a lot of attention to detail)?
  9. There are actual sales in the Completed Listings section...
  10. The bottom line is - ignore the subjective semantics in listings, look at the photos closely, and ask questions as needed. If it doesn’t pass the eye test, move on. Everything you needed to know about the book in question was visible in the photos, this one is on you. Chalk it up as a lesson learned and put it in the knowledge bank going forward.
  11. Dude certainly stretched the definition of “nice”, but the pics clearly showed that this book was in chit shape.
  12. The perp better send that check to PGX real fast for signature verification...
  13. I would think any wire fraud statute would sufficiently cover it, but I’m not a lawyertician.
  14. You could conceivably make the argument that eBay’s willful blindness to shilling makes them co-conspirators in substantial fraud.
  15. "Once I got the ---script though, I realized that not only were we telling this amazing superhero story, but we were also telling a very personal story as well," Turner said. "One which required research into mental health issues. Because that is a big part of what drives the story. I mainly drew inspiration from multiple personality disorder and schizophrenia, as it is really about duality, this movie. Darkness and light - that's all within her. This sense of being a completely other person and her struggling with that." Yay, Jean Grey on a shrink's couch for 120ish minutes! Just what we all want to see! Who needs the Starjammers, or the Shi'ar, or any cosmic stuff like that??? Nuts to entertainment! This is really going to suck. Like epically, worse than Last Stand level, suck.
  16. My wife actually bought me a cheapie DVD copy of Logan as a stocking stuffer, so I'm inching closer to actually seeing this movie that I have severe transferal disdain for. Maybe in five years... Axel Alonso can suck it.
  17. - Stan was charging $100 apiece last year. - Let's assume Con entry was $25 for the day - Add in parking for a $10 spot - A raw VF+ of FF Annual 5 recently sold for $47 on eBay, so let's call it $35 for raw F/VF book cost - CGC grading under Economy with all fees/shipping was probably at least $60 Using my rough model, cost to a normal guy who obtained the signature would've been $230. Although pressing, facilitator fees, etc. could add even more. HOWEVER, I think I found your actual book in the completed listings. Assuming that's the case and you did buy it from (big time dealer with massive inventory) pristinecomics-pristineccg, I would bet they still came out a few bucks ahead off of that $200 sale price.
  18. Well if you click on their comic grading link on the main page, it just goes to the other guys -- https://www.beckett.com/grading As for that Iron Man 1, even the PGX folks would be justified in laughing at that...slab/Tupperware/saran wrap/Bed, Bath, & Beyond picture frame...
  19. Great comedy from their "Best Price Guarantee" too: "Does not apply to auction sites such as eBay or Amazon.com, as these sites allow the sale of items from individuals rather than reputable companies." In essence -- fair market value not welcome, 'cause we're a "reputable company".
