  2. Iv been watching this for weeks seems like a solid page at a fair price, but I am new to all this so what am I missing? Overpriced? Poor Content? Fake? https://www.ebay.com/itm/EARLY-JACK-KIRBY-FANTASTIC-4-PAGE-HUMAN-TORCH-LARGE-ART/323480941516
  3. SOLD PER PM! AMAZING FANTASY 15 1st SPIDERMAN CGC Graded Blue 3.0 OFF WHITE PAGES 0143304002 NICE BOOK NEW CASE NO ISSUES RULES The first I will take it wins! The updated board software does not display precise thread post times (either in PMs or in sales threads), which can result in the inability to determine whether a PM post or thread post came first. One thing remains certain - it is easy to tell whether one post in a thread came before another post in the same thread. So, the first "take it" wins No PL/HOS members Price: 16,500 Payment: PayPal only Shipping: Free USPS Signature Required
  4. So thrilled to have picked this up today (HA) one of my all time fav covers and Conan stories as a kid. Stoked on so many levels.
  5. Like to throw in my 2 cents on these points...... Only 35,00 copies per issue during the 1980s. The list I just looked up put Cerebus at avg of # 70 of the 100 books per month being sold, Which imho pretty darn good for an independent self-published book. Nope no movies 100% dead on but why????? that was never the vibe of this book or its creator as Dave was approved several times by DC & Marvel over the years to sell out the grey bunny and make a lot of $$$$$$ Groot is more popular but as per the topic not as rare as a 9.4/9.8 Cerebus #1 thus the reason for the continued price increase & demand by some collectors to own a high copy of said Aardvark # 1 If you ever read Cerebus you would know he's no Pogo ( nuff said) The Book is not a sleeper among longtime comic collectors ( I understand where a new collector may have or maybe never will know the character) but the reason high-grade examples go for some real $$$ is because they never show up in any kind of high-grade condition, I would even bet there is no 9.8 copy that exists. Cerebus from day one was and always will be Dave's to do with what he will. Love him or hate him you have to respect that.
  6. 100% nailed it & this too............................The cost of something does not equal to its importance.
  7. Hi, thanks for the info, I am just learning & after doing some research I think your 100% dead on. On a side note, the dealer who sold me this never said that JK touched the page I just assumed it. The only good thing was another board member sent me to the Heritage archives and two similar pages in 2014/15 sold for apx 700/800 with the bp so I guess I overpaid a bit but it's a cool first page to own and has taught me to look before I leap ( way different world than comics huh?) Thanks again!
  8. My first entry into a whole new world got this at a local toy show. I have been looking to dip my feet and the $799 price tag seemed fair to me( I really have no idea what its worth) I mean the king drew this so I am stoked even if I paid to much
  9. 100% correct its a niche market with a limited number of interested buyers & also just as important a limited number of high-grade copies existing thus the reason Cerebus #1 is currently listed in OSPG where it is. Which I think was the initial topic & discussion of this post? However, that has nothing to do with the historical importance, influence & impact of the book. Meaning I think right now most people would agree Hulk 181 looks to be the top key book of the Bronze age that doesn't mean the character ie Wolverine ( whom I love) is even close to being as groundbreaking as Cerebus was to the industry & thus the reason for continued interest in a low print run self-published Canadian comic book about an aardvark with a sword ( I mean 99.9% of the once HOT independent books are not worth the paper they were printed on today) So In my opinion, when taken into the context of when and how the book was published & the evolution of the book creatively its a very important part of comic history just like Detective 1 is not 27 it is still a very significant book to our hobby. Side note just think about this Dave was selling apx 30/35k books a month at one point with much of the content being political & religious story arcs! Now that's some Mad Max sh# right there!
  10. 100% off on Cerebus first the book is very historic and has had a huge impact on many of the mainstream & independent books being published today. So if I understand your thinking it's less important & valuable because you don't think its impact was significant & isn't as popular as Wolverine? However, the historical facts just don't confirm that statement. The truth is when looked at as a purely original concept Cerebus & Dave Sim are among one of the most important characters creator-owned books of the Bronze age or any age. Having grown up with the fuzzy guy I can not emphasize enough how important this book was/is to our hobby & when taken into the context of the era that it was SELF-published it's simply an amazing achievement. I mean think about this it was a 300 issue independent comic that was published from 1977 - 2004 & at its peak was selling 36k copies an issue! If there was a Comic Hall Of Fame the badass Aardvark would have his place right next to the man with the claws.
  11. 1000% dead on with over saturation on the music front " I love G&R but can't stand Welcome to the Jungle for one minute at this point lol. I also think we will see the Disney/Marvel /Star Wars properties have highs and lows in the future ( SW is at a bit of a low right now due to the last movie). However, with the Mouse owing those properties, I think we would all agree that both properties have a bright long term future. Disneys aggressive promotion via their monster mouse media machine is not something I would bet against. The current bang for your $$$ is at the youth pre-teen level, get these kids hooked on Darth Vader & Wolverine and you have endless generations of new customers just waiting to give you their money. Now, will this be good or bad for comics values over the next 20 yrs I really don't have a clue but it seems to me we are now in a much more global market than even a decade ago so I would think Hulk 181 and its like have some room to grow in terms of value. People are paying $2000 for a signed NM 98,5 yrs ago it was a $300 book & $60 bucks raw all day at any show.
  12. Could not have said it better, it is THE silver age book to own over the long haul ...........period.
  13. Suger & Spike #1 is a tuff book but not a key imho
  14. $ 343.00 Why? or ..........................who would want this for more then $20 at best?: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Incredible-Hulk-181-Vol-1-Almost-Coverless-Low-Grade-1st-App-Wolverine-No-MVS-/202433472495?hash=item2f21f9a7ef%3Ag%3A4OMAAOSwV45blzki&nma
  15. Its hard to believe that so many of the characters we grew up with are on there way out, I think the only reason kids know who the Flintstones are is because of the cereal, but here's the thing from the hey I grew up with Westerns, Looney Tunes ect & I love them and I can now buy these cheaper then they were 20 yrs ago point of view that's great but from a hey you think I might even break even on these in 10 yrs point of view it sucks knowing your buying into a fading genre. I guess its part of getting older but I have to admit I never would have thought some of these iconic characters would someday be all but forgotten. I mean dude the real Lone Ranger was badass, Bugs Bunny will run circles around Pokemon any day. Ahhhh I think I might watch some Johhny Carson reruns today and pretend its 1975
  16. Its so funny you say that I mention Lone Ranger to my class a few years ago and they just looked at me like I was talking in Russian
  17. Just picked up some clean DC 1940s MUTT & JEFF & WESTERNS and I can't give them away at the store, Got me thinking what one-time major GA genre or characters time has come and gone & 10 yrs will really have little to no fan interest in your opinion?
  18. A longtime comic collector with no, nada not one bit of experience in the original art market. .I am working on finally slowing down a bit and having a comic man cave ( kids are grown up & the house has a lot of room) so I finally get to see some of my 45 yrs of collecting outside of the long "heavy" white boxes.. Anyway, I am hoping to add some nice OA to my comic lair & since I started with Conan in the late 1970s ( really Archies but we don't talk about that ) I am just trying to get a general range for what some of the projected Heritage OA pieces in February auction might bring& figure this is the place to ask for an honest evaluation? There is a nice John Buscema and Joe SinnottMarvel Treasury Edition #23 Conan the Barbarian Cover and two BWS early splash pages from issue 5 & 7 just trying to see what some experts think any of these might bring. My take on the BWS pages is apx 25/35k the #23 cover I have no idea any help would be great. So out of my realm this feels like I am 11 yrs old again and walking into Passaic book center for the first time asking if they have any old comics
  19. I am not sure the AC#1 vs SM #1 Applies here as both ASM#1 IN 5.0 & AF15 1.5 are plentiful in either grade, ASM #1 is moving a bit right now but over the long haul & a year from now that may not be the case, it does run in cycles. I would still go with the AF#15. ASM #1 will always be the secondary book IMHO. AF15 has so much going for it Arguably the most iconic Marvel Character, a classic badass cover even your grandmother has seen plus all 3 legends are represented as Kirby, Ditko & Lee all got in on the action, it's his first Appearance, I mean it has everything you want from a major key. Let put it this way I never meet an AMAZING FANTASY I DIDN'T LIKE LOL
  20. Just picked up a reading copy of DC ALL-STAR COMICS # 7 1941 & on the last page Superman & Batman make a Cameo appearance in the same story, how early is this for them to be together in the same story ( same panel?) How many other stories pre-date this issue for them to be in the same story arch. Just wondering??
