  1. Love Zack Snyder ✔️ Captain Marvel mediocre ✔️ Love TFA and hate TLJ .... Just the reverse for me. Maybe not love for TLJ but I really enjoyed it. TFA was just another Death Star being blown up.
  2. Agree, just took me out of it. Disappointing writing there but maybe it was a Disney thing. I’m still in but come on.
  3. I have a soft spot in my heart for SJ in Lost in Translation. She was directed very well there. Can’t think of any other role where she wowed me. Gorgeous and popular and will continue getting big roles. But not even a tenth of an actor like Frances McDormand.
  4. It doesn’t measure up for a Best Picture win to me but Best Actor is not only deserved but attainable.
  5. Spent the day sick in bed and I watched The Godfather and Godfather II (First time viewing the Coppola Restoration editions). Over six straight hours back to back. Suddenly the Irishman loses some luster. Then again, there really isn’t much out there that can stack up against a perfect film and a perfect sequel.
  6. I agree, my daughters even laughed at that. They only address each other by name or something derogatory.
  7. I have never liked SJ’s portrayals of BW. Love her in different roles in other films but she never nailed BW for me. This trailer is a step in the right direction. The superhero landing is such an eye-rolling moment for me though. It’s played out to the point of being parodied in Deadpool. The only one who ever pulled it off was Blade. And not even Blade could pull it off a second time because it was only cool once! The rest of the trailer looks great and I’m very surprised I liked it. I hope they don't borrow too much from Red Sparrow, Anna or Atomic Blonde.
  8. If historically inaccurate (which it may well be) it follows the accounts of the events in the book. Sheeran’s confessions may be filled with lies but the film still represents the book.
  9. To me it seems there is much butthurt about his Marvel opinion. Some just can’t seem to get over that. Scorsese didn’t “go after” Marvel. He was asked a question and honestly gave his opinion. If I tell you about the movies I don’t like, does that mean I’m going after them? What does that even mean? Everyone is entitled to their opinion including him. If anything, Coppola was the one that made the over-the-top comment that just seemed mean spirited. These guys are legendary film makers but their opinions are exactly that. As valid as yours or mine. This reminds me of a funny Bill Burr moment where he talks about the guy from Duck Dynasty that got a lot of hate for his homophobic views. Bill said, “What did you think he thought? That he would have progressive ideas about gay marriage?” Well, what did you think the guys who made The Godfather and Taxi Driver were going to think about men in tights movies? Personally I’m still going to enjoy the mob and the capes.
  10. That’s definitely a valid criticism as far as the characters looks and age. The CGI was off and distracting at times. Once in a while it looked flawless but there was no consistency. The tech is definitely there where a better job could have been done but I imagine the budget wasn’t up to it. Definitely easier to age actors via practical effects like they did for Deniro in Once upon a time in America. A favorite of mine. I might add that Deniro and Pacino played Deniro and Pacino while Pesci was completely uncharacteristic. I hope he gets an Oscar nom for this.
  11. I loved the MTV Oddities show with Maxx and The Head. I don’t see this working in live action though. Would have preferred a Netflix animated series.
  12. With over forty films and documentaries he’s done maybe five mob movies. Hardly the same film over and over.
  13. Just finished it. I don’t think I would have enjoyed this sitting in the theater. You really need the comfort of your home to wrap yourself around it. Its another winner for Scorsese. Epic. It’s definitely f-ing cinema. It does not have the pacing of Goodfellas but has those familiar touches. It’s long and slow and I loved every minute of it. Pesci stole the show for me. His intense quiet presence dominated every scene he’s in. Especially the one moment where he gives that CGI glance without saying a word and I was grinning ear to ear. You’ll know the scene when you see it. Now for the CGI. It’s uneven. There are moments where it’s perfection and moments where it looks like a video game. For some reason Pesci was done better than Deniro. As in he looked more natural in the majority of his younger scenes. It’s initially distracting because I was looking for it and then became focused on it but eventually the story takes over and I became less focused on the tech. Honestly, this is the perfect film to get the Lucas treatment in ten years from now. The faces are already digital and could be improved in the future as the film is remastered with more natural looking CGI. All in all I put this in the top three of Scorsese’s best. It’s not re-watchable like The Departed but I can’t wait to see it again after some time has passed.
  14. Brie Larson can act so I don’t know why she had that cardboard personality in CM. For me she just wasn’t directed properly. I know the movie worked for the masses so the director got it right in that regard.
  15. I hope they do something better with CM2 as the first was completely forgettable to me. The only thing I enjoyed was the de-aging tech for Sam Jackson.
  16. Really have no idea but like RMA said, it just missed the foil stamp process. Doubtful it was a red or blue. But no way of knowing for sure.
  17. Nice to see Amazon bringing a big gun into the streaming war even though Prime Video is not a critical portion of their business. I pay for a Prime membership solely for the free two day shipping which by itself is worth it over the course of a year.
  18. Episodes 2 and 3 were absolutely great. Better than the first one for me. Even with that eye rolling moment with the flying salute. Just going to pretend that didn’t happen.
  19. I think the show was perfection as it contained the opening and best parts of the 35 issue run. Don’t quote me but I think the show covers the first twelve issues. Much of it was a page for page translation. The story gets sloppy later in the run. The animated series ended on a high note.
  20. It’s being compared to the Spaghetti Western genre because of the thematic elements. Lone gunfighter hero or antihero roaming the wastelands moving from town to town with purpose. (Very basic description. The genre also gives you a unique feeling that you are not watching a traditional Western popularized by the likes of John Wayne). The most well-known in the genre is The Man with No Name trilogy with Clint Eastwood which you can see shades of in the Mandalorian.
  21. I remember buying bootleg dvd’s on eBay with the originally aired content which differs slightly from the official home releases that came on VHS, DVD, Amazon Video and iTunes. I’d rather they just remaster the original show in HD than make a new movie.
  22. Sounds like he’s just producing. Too early to tell. I don’t see this really working as a live action movie though. Should be animated like it was on MTV’s Oddities.
