  1. Not desirable to me but not a deal breaker. They look just like the blue line photocopies artists sometimes work off. Some artists will draw digitally and print out a blue line copy to ink. Not the same thing of course but they look the same.
  2. I only have four commissions but this was tough. Went back and forth between this one and one by Frank Miller. I went with this because it’s come a long way since 2010. Dave Sim did this commission for someone else. At some point he used it as a print called Marital Bliss for one of his Kickstarter projects. I bought it last year but thought it looked unfinished so I commissioned the logical choice and honestly the only choice. Gerhard originally did not want to paint over Dave’s original. He didn’t want to make a mistake and there were some rough areas on the original like old tone that was peeling. I was all for it though and eventually he went for it. He removed the tone from Cerebus and added subtle additional inked background detail along with a beautiful “frame”. Then he painted over it. I really enjoyed talking with him and following the process and that propels this above my other commissions in which I had very little to no interaction with the artists.
  3. I prefer inks over pencil. I’ve got one Frank Miller piece where he purposely didn’t ink over all his penciled lines creating a unique detailed face.
  4. Close to a half hour of new footage. Also some of the footage you know plays out differently in sequence. Tarantino still states the film version is the cut he wanted but this miniseries is definitive and superior. I watched the four episodes which were about an hour each over a weekend and it was a new experience.
  5. I should have bought that Miller Detective 1000 when it was for sale as a commission. 26k already.
  6. I can honestly say I have a love/hate relationship with this movie. The “villains” are such comical stereotypes. “Let’s go burn down some villages, Murika!” Please hate us and love the wide eyed Smurfs. Hammered subtlety. I like my villains with depth and real purpose to the point where you could almost understand their motivations. Cameron gave me Terminator, Aliens and the Abyss so he gets a pass for life but I hope he delivers better Avatars than the original in the future. Oh wait, didn’t Avatar make like two point google at the box office? I am just an ant, don’t listen to me. Deliver to the masses, I would.
  7. Or they could just give us a proper Dark Tower series on HBO or Netflix. How they screwed that up, I have no idea.
  8. Oh I love Burtons Batman but that’s nostalgia talking for me. Has a special place in my heart but Dark Knight just transcends its genre and becomes a top tier crime Neo-Noir film. Iron Man was great except the weak end battle and Black Panther was on par with at least four other good Marvel movies in the top half of the pack.
  9. I’ll pass. Funny how I would have given it a chance if NETFLIX flashed before the preview.
  10. The Brute! I know that will probably not happen unless they make it with a horror theme and R rating. I wore those three issues out though!
  11. I consider it a DC flick as much as Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. This Joker would have been right at home with Bale. I wish DC would get back on this path of real Gotham crime stories minus flying capes.
  12. They already have with Nolan’s Dark Knight which is above any comic book film Marvel, DC or otherwise. The question is when will they do it again? I’m not holding my breath so I’m waiting for Marvel to make something on par with Dark Knight. Winter Soldier is the only thing that’s impressed me so far. Other Marvel flicks have been good fun but Winter Soldier is the bar.

    Crawl

It’s been a while since we’ve had a good creature feature. Looking forward to spending a Saturday afternoon in the theater with this one. Looks great.
  14. Majority of my collection is published with only three unpublished pieces left. A gift from Sam Kieth and two commissions: Frank Miller and Sim/Gerhard. Absolutely love those unpubs.
  15. I love Stranger Things but they rode the nostalgic coattails of IT, E.T. and the 80’s teen wave. Stranger Things is actually the copy. And it’s near perfection.
  16. I just posted about comic movie fatigue setting in for me but I am so down for this.
  17. Avatar sucked. Lots of dumb things going on I didn’t like. Story was of course straight formula. And I still found myself getting sucked into the visuals and enjoying the experience.
  18. Honestly the fatigue of comic book movies has set in for me. I wouldn’t care if Marvel and DC took a year off at this point. Looking forward to seeing Wick.
  19. Many actors have not appeared in comic movies. I don’t foresee Daniel Day-Lewis or Sean Penn ever doing one.
  20. I’m glad for Keanu, he worked pretty hard on his tactical training for this series. Taran Butler is the perfect trainer for target shooting but lacks any real world experience from military or law enforcement and it sometimes shows. But stylish is what they are going for and they succeed.
  21. Whatever this movie (or any movie) makes has no affect on me. I only care if the movie is good. I enjoyed it and I guess it was a critical success as well.
  22. I was going to wait until this movie neared the end of its run but I know one of you turds is going to spoil it for me. I don’t like tip-toeing around the forum. Off to see it tomorrow morning.
  23. That’s a shame to me. I wish we would have gotten a solo Blade Netflix run like Punisher.
