  1. Strangely, the coolest scene in the entire movie for me was seeing Sarah and John circa 1991 near the opening. That was some flawless CGI or however they put it together. I really wanted to see more of 1991 Sarah. I did not like the content of the scene, just the tech. Dark Fate was a fine Terminator movie to end the trilogy with. The actors that play Grace and the REV9 easily steal the show from Linda and Arnold though it was great seeing them again. Dani was fine but forgettable. At this point, I don’t think the franchise can be revived. Not when you have guys like Denis Villeneuve who may be taking the quality of sci-fi films to the next level.
  2. Watched it on iTunes tonight. Brilliant period piece. Loved the DiCaprio/Pitt dynamic. Soundtrack was so good I bought the album right after viewing.
  3. Episode 2 was great. Has a Lone Wolf and Cub vibe going on. Makes Disney Plus worth the $5.83 a month for this show alone.
  4. I don’t recall seeing much advertising for it. Could be just me. Also, The Shining is required viewing as this is more a sequel to Kubricks movie rather than to Kings novel. Younger audiences may not connect with it.
  5. I watched The Shining again yesterday and went in to Dr. Sleep today not expecting much. I thought it was truly fantastic. There were definitely some things I had some issues with but not enough to take away from the experience. From what I understand, quite a few bad reviews for the film were due to the violence inflicted upon children. The main scene in question was definitely hard to watch. I did not read the book though, and heard there are big differences. Ordering it on Kindle now. But this is a must-watch if you have any nostalgia for The Shining.
  6. Did not like the scenes where he showed compassion. Wanted him to be more ruthless. Like when he asks the droid if he’s ok after the fight. Come on. Or when he tells Nolte to take the money because he deserves it. I wanted him to be more consistent. A lone cold gunfighter like he was in the opening scene which was the best part for me. But I guess that’s not what they are going for here. Still really enjoyed it but hopefully the Mandalorian doesn’t turn into some big softie with his current bounty in future episodes. I like how he upgraded (level upped) his armor. Maybe he’ll do that with each reward he claims.
  7. I’m two episodes in so far. It’s ok but out of all the new Apple shows, I put For all Mankind at the top so far.
  8. I still can’t believe he passed on Return of the Jedi. I would have loved to have seen that one.
  9. The Blade Runner sequel could have easily failed under any other director including Ridley. Denis pulled it off and created an incredible film that does not need the weight of the original classic.
  10. And this is precisely why it would NOT have worked for me if they went that route. He’s just not that Joker yet. Can’t go from Arthur Fleck discovering and embracing his dark side to criminal mastermind in one film. It ended with him finally being comfortable in his skin and leaves me wondering how he transforms from there. Ledgers version is fully formed and goes full Joker on us right from the opening.
  11. That’s unfortunate, I’ll still see this in the theater as it may be the last one. They tried and tried and could never pull it off. I just wanted a true third film that brings us back to 1984. Or one that ends with Kyle entering the time machine.
  12. Great points. Yesterday, my daughter freaked out when she heard me watching the intro to the original tv show The Munsters on YouTube. Apparently the tune is used in a current song from a group she listens to. She had no idea and thought the catchy tune was original to the new song.
  13. Cameron owned the 80’s much like John Carpenter did. I hate to say it but I’m not looking forward to any projects by either of them. Avatar was an amazing visual spectacle that almost fooled me into thinking it was a good movie. Poor writing, rehashed story and bad dialogue which was surprising coming from the guy that made Terminator/Aliens/Abyss, movies I have rewatched countless times.
  14. I doubt Todd will ever replicate this success again. As much as I enjoyed Joker, it was an anomaly that really shouldn’t have achieved the box office it did. I’ve never been one to follow the numbers but this one has been a wild and interesting ride since it defied/exceeded expectations. It had a lot going against it as well. Joker could be brilliant if you never watched a Scorsese movie. But I have so to me it's not. Too many elements copied whether in tribute or not. I felt like this is Todd envisioning a Scorsese Joker and then directing it in that manner. But I forced those movies Joker borrows heavily from out of my head when I watched it and I enjoyed it mainly for the powerhouse acting ability of its lead.
  15. Just because he brought some wacky comedy to Thor doesn’t mean he’s not capable of bringing the dark when appropriate. I never would have thought the guy who made the Hangover trilogy could bring us this latest iteration of the Joker.
  16. Just noticed this thread, really could have used it a minute ago. Anyway, this is the guy that needs to helm the big three as far as teams go. Reboot the Avengers to connect with a new X-Men and Fantastic Four all under his direction. I’d be a Marvel fanboy again.
  17. Just give the X-Men to Tahiti Wifi (I’m not looking him up). After the last Thor, I’m sold he’s definitely the guy.
  18. I lean with Scorsese on this but it’s disappointing to hear Coppola describe them as despicable. That’s of course extreme. These two are legends in their field and can express any opinion they have though. But at the end of the day, let’s not pretend that our fun capes and tights adventures are anything beyond that.
  19. Seriously, I could have written every word above. I agree with each example you made from 2001 to Ford and even Ang Lee’s Hulk.
  20. CB fans may not want to accept it but he’s right. Keeping in mind there’s nothing wrong with theme park rides. Turn off your brain, hold on and wooo! I’ve rewatched Dark Knight and Winter Soldier more than any flick by Scorsese but I’m well aware they don’t measure up against his best.
  21. I didn’t consider it a masterpiece or trash. I think people calling it a masterpiece are just caught up in Phoenix’s amazing performance. He alone carries the movie. I didn’t find anything offensive but then again I don’t get offended easily. The violence was not over the top as I read in some reviews. I was expecting The Devils Rejects level violence when I went in the theater. None of the Jokers kills will stick with me like the aluminum bats near the end of Casino. Overall, I enjoyed the movie and hope they continue making quality stand alone one-shots.
  22. Well hell, I should have became the Joker thousands of times then.
  23. I took my daughter who is 15. Of course she’s desensitized to violence from Netflix. She went in thinking she would not like the movie and told me she loved it after. Said it was sad and awesome.
