  1. I often hear that Wesley is kind of a dbag but there is no denying he is Blade. And his forgotten contribution to Marvel is immense.
  2. I really enjoyed the last several X-Men so I’m looking forward to seeing this one.
  3. If you enjoyed The Hateful Eight, the extended 4 part series is on Netflix.
  4. Yup, the Chow trilogy of Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer and CJ7 are loved in my house.
  5. Rented it and watched for the first time today. I think I skipped it before due to some negative reviews here. Anyway, it was pretty good. Dumb fun and that finale set to the theme music was great. Watched the ending twice. Depp was great, didn’t have to get used to him at all. I think it helped that I was a fan of the tv show as a kid so it got the nostalgia bump.
  6. John Hamm is pushing fifty and would be great for a DKR role but Hammer is perfect. Not even 35 yet and is taller than Hamm. He could carry the film mantle for a decade if he knocks it out of the park.
  7. I did enjoy it. I thought it was much better than Aquaman. However, can’t say I was blown away. And I understand this is the starting point for the character in the DCU. I’m sure his full potential/power will be realized in the next movie. I did get what I wanted, an empty theater. There were less than a dozen people at the evening showing.
  8. Would love to see Marvel give us a real Fantastic Four movie with SS and Galactus. Just kick off the next stage/phase with dropped jaws. Go big.
  9. Going to see this in an hour, it BETTER BE GOOD or I’m coming back to this thread like Eastwood riding into a town with vengeance on his mind. ok that was a bit much but I’ll trash this place like TwoPiece in a Captain Marvel thread. ok that was worse.
  10. Only about 15 movies on the 2019 list I’m looking forward to with IT: Chapter 2, Doctor Sleep and Joker in the top three spots. For those that may not be aware, Doctor Sleep is Kings sequel to The Shining and is being directed by Flanagan of The Haunting of Hill House.
  11. Can’t be stated enough, this is required viewing.
  12. I’m still seeing it today over Avengers. I prefer to catch movies as they near the end of their run. Then I can pretend the theater is my own personal entertainment room. Watched Pet Semetary yesterday but could have skipped it. Regardless of reviews, I will see every Stephen King movie and hope for the best. Avengers is taking up half of the cinema screens in the one I go to in Vegas so it’s a great time to watch other movies that are ending their runs soon. Near empty theaters.
  13. I’m going to wait another week or two to let the crowds die down before watching this. So tonight will be a horror double feature, US and Pet Semetary. The theater should be nearly empty for those today.
  14. I subscribed to YouTube premium for just a month so I could download this season. I’m sure there are places online where I could do the same for free but I want to give a little support to this show.
  15. Way more excited for this than Avengers. Dennis did a wonderful job on Blade Runner. I’m now convinced he needs to remake TRON.
  16. I’ll check it out in a month once the crowds die down. I like going into a movie on a Monday morning with a half empty theater. Infinity War was good but wasn’t even the best MCU movie to me but still looking forward to watching this.
  17. The Raid is a movie that definitely doesn’t need to be remade. Not a lick of cgi and 90% real stunt work with real injuries. Watching The Raid, I cant help but cringe wondering which scene resulted in accidents putting stuntmen in the hospital. You really feel their pain. If anything, Hollywood already remade it and called it Dredd.
  18. My initial thought was that Trimpe was the penciller on this panel recreation and that Dave inked and colored it but of course it could be a print as well. Dave’s on CAF, send him a message and inquire.
  19. I’m actually looking forward to this one.
  20. I didn’t like the original film because it was so tame compared to the novel. I’ll still give this new version a look keeping in mind I will most likely be disappointed again.
  21. Great action sequence. For me, it was Olson in the hospital scene laying in bed recalling how the girl died in the snow that stood out. Now I remember where I’ve seen her before that. Oldboy.
  22. I don’t think she has a large catalog of movies under her belt yet. I can’t remember her being in much. She is awesome to watch as Scarlett Witch though, a character I know nothing about other than from the MCU. The only movie I recall Olson standing out in is Wind River, she did an excellent job there with Hawkeye.
  23. She won Best Actress that year while DiCaprio won Best Actor. (Sorry, my OCD) And she deserved it, she had a quiet yet powerful performance. She has also had great performances in bad movies. I think she was just off her mark in Captain Marvel for me. Plenty of great actors and actresses have delivered mediocre performances including De Niro. Jared Leto is one of my favorite actors but he did not deliver the right Joker. I think the director has a big responsibility in bringing out the right performance from the actor as well. But Larson obviously knocked it out of the park for the majority in this thread so it worked for many of you. Just don’t use box office as a gauge for film quality. It’s not like Transformers, Fast and Furious and Aquaman will be getting a Criterion release anytime soon. My daughters haven’t seen it yet so will take them soon. I watched it online in Afghanistan. They are fine critics as well for their age, they loved Dark Knight and disliked Batman V Superman. So they are on the right track.
